Its a good ukulele for a start.
It's a good ukulele for a beginning. I took off the strings and put Martin M600 strings. I've had to tune it once a day, but each string has only been off by half a note, so it doesn't take very long to re-tune it. I've had it for one week. The paint job is excellent, no problems with the saddle or nut. The neck is very narrow and I have big hands. I was not expecting that. It was easy to restring. The intonation is good, low action. It looks like a toy, but feeling underneath I can tell its made of wood. I would buy it again for a first ukulele. I read many reviews before buying it. Most people complain of tuning. As long as you switch out the strings for quality strings, then you'll have no trouble keeping it in tune. I'm using an android app to keep it in tune. I plan to buy a snark next. The gig bag it comes with is made of cloth. Nothing to keep it protected. You will need to buy an additional gig bag to take it out of the house. The tuning machines are well made.

A very nice ukulele
I love this cute, little instrument. It came in good condition, and the color was way more prettier than how it looks online. The only thing was the strings looked pretty cheap, but once it's tuned it sounds very nice. I'm very pleased.

Makala Dolphin Soprano Ukulele
I was looking for a 'beater' ukulele that I could leave in the car/take to the beach/let my grandchildren play with, and not worry about it getting scratched (or stolen!) This 'uke got good reviews from the forums I read(Ukulele Underground/Flea Market Music) as being a decent player, especially for the low low price($35 to $40). Sam Ashe got it to me quickly, and well-packaged. Unfortunately, it had a deep gouge in the fretboard, making it un-playable. Also, the fret ends were sharp enough to hurt my fingers when playing.. Maybe I was expecting too much for my $35, but I returned it for a refund. Sam Ashe paid for return shipping-no hassles. I would have opted for another(hoping the next one might be better), but they were out of stock with an indefinite date for a replacement.

Great starter Uke
Want to play the uke but know nothing about it? Look no further. This is the best entry level ukelele for the price. Just buy it and have fun. I got new aguila strings because everyone recommended but to be honest the ones that came with it sounded fine to this untrained ear (and looked cooler because they were black). After it arrives, I suggest downloading a ukelele app for your phone that has a tuner. Until your strings have stretched it will not stay in tune for long so be prepared to make tuning adjustment a lot for the first two weeks. Then go on youtube and search for uke tutorials. You will be playing songs the same day you get it!I love the sound, the red color, and the dolphin. The papery bag that is supposed to protect it is a joke.

Perfect for kids
I bought this uke for my daughter when I bought a Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele for my husband. I knew she would want to play, too, and I didn't want her beating up Daddy's (she's only three). She absolutely LOVES playing with it. The bright color is great for kids, and the finish stands up to some pretty rough handling. And by no means is this some kids toy, it's a real instrument that anyone can play and it sounds great. It's adorable to watch them play together, and it's easier for my husband to teach her because she has her own. I would definitely recommend it as a beginner instrument for anyone.

Inconsistent manufacturing
I ordered a used Dolphin as a Amazon Warehouse deal. It arrived in brand new condition, but the neck had a hump in the middle (halfway between the headstock and the body) and therefore the strings buzzed terribly. After returning it I went to a local store to try other Dolphin Sopranos. They had a about a dozen in stock in all different colors. I played all of them and noticed significant differences in sound. The thickness of the plywood and even the thickness of the paint applied varied quite a bit, as seen on the soundhole edge. Some of the bridges were glued on with gaps or gobs of glue showing. The sound generally lacked clarity and brightness on all of them, the thicker the paint and the plywood the worse. There is a lot of praise for this ukulele on the internet, but frankly I think you get what you pay for. I would recommend spending more money if you are serious about wanting to learn to play the ukulele.

Great for a Musical Novice
This is a great little ukulele for beginners. As a non-musical person, I found it easy to pick up and play right away. After a week, I did switch out the strings to Aquila Nylagut Soprano Ukulele Strings as suggested by other reviewers. The higher quality strings do make a difference to the the overall sound of the instrument - less "tinny" sounding. Now that I've had the ukulele for a month, with it's new strings, it's staying in tune consistantly. My pre-school students love to hear their favortie songs on the "little guitar"! I would suggest buying good strings and the snark clip-on tuner at the same time. The tuner is worth it's weight in gold!

Great little first ukulele and excellent delivery from the German supplier.
For the money I am quite impressed with this little ukulele which I bought for my grandson. I took the advice from other reviewers and purchased some "proper" strings at the same time. As soon as they arrived I re-strung the ukulele and the sound did immediately improve and the tuning became more stable. As a little bit of fun to hopefully get my grandson interested in the ukulele and music generally (I have a really good collection of guitars which one day I hope he will be interested in playing) it is good value. It came from Germany very quickly and arrived in perfect condition.

Ukulele beginner
Received the Ukulele well within the time stated and have been enjoying learning to play it. That's why this review is late, been too busy strumming away. I like it, being new to playing any instrument is probably unfair to go into too much detail but it tunes in and gives the correct sound as far as I am concerned. My fat fingers aren't used to adopting the shapes the chords require and I am never going to play in public but for entertainment value it must be hard to beat and I will master the tunes I want to play and for that this instrument is a good buy. My grandsons like it as well. I recommend it. You can see it played on Youtube not by me.
