Sculpey S31-042 III Polymer Clay, 1-Pound, Black, 1/pkg

Love this clay. It is soft and wonderful to use. Great for the projects I need it for.

We needed a lot of black clay for an Egyptian cat project. My 11-year old daughter was able to get an eight inch high cat made with this amount of clay. We purchased a 2oz gold package too for the accessories. Once the sculpture was done, it was baked and came out wonderfully sturdy. I highly recommend purchasing the larger packages of clay for bigger projects. The 1 lb package was easily broken down and provided enough to complete a detailed 8 inch tall by 3 inch wide sculpture with a small cardboard core covered by clay in the center for stability.

I really love using sculpey. It's very forgiving because it doesn't dry until you bake it. I can work on a sculpture and return to it when ever I want without fear of it getting hard or drying out. And even after it is baked, you can still use sand paper to create new textures or smooth out any unwanted bumps. It arrived well packed and earlier than expected.

If you need more than the 2oz bricks this works well. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that when I went to reorder this item 8 days after my first order, the price was 68% more! It went from $10.55 to $17.80! What a ripoff! And I can get it at Walmart for $10.55 too! So, I'll be heading there today. I just liked the convenience of Amazon. I'm a Prime member so I get my orders in 2 days without having to battle traffic or people congestion. Sculpey is a great product. It doesn't shrink and holds details fairly well. The only down side is I have to use alcohol to clean it off my hands after I've been working with it for a while. Also, I bake everything I make for an hour in a mini-oven I created from 2 roasting pans clipped together. This is NOT recommended by the manufacturer. Also, I lay everything on a layer of thin batting and use it between layers. I've done up to 3 layers this way. I started baking this way after I'd done some research online. I have had no problems baking this long. Again, this is NOT recommended by the manufacturer. Everyone's oven is different so test, test, test. Good Luck with your crafting!

SUCH a great product and price for it's value! I immediately jumped into my new block when it arrived,to make my clay jewelry! ANOTHER great thing, was that it was actually soft upon arrival so I didn't have to do a ton of kneading to get the clay consistency malleable enough to use! I'm super happy and will be reordering!

Easy to handle and shape! Baked very well as a second layer for my figurines! Strong, sturdy and smooth.
