Healthy Origins Cognizin (Citicoline), 250 mg - Brain Supplement for Memory with Citicoline CDP Choline - Non-GMO, Vegan & Gluten-Free Supplement - 60 Veggie Capsules

I have severe ADHD, and because at one point my dosage for adderall became so high, I had gotten very sick with seratonin syndrome. I had been having to keep increasing my adderall dosage as my body developed too much tolerance to it, and it was the only way I could function at work. When I became sick because of the Adderall dosage getting so high, my doctor had to bring my dosage way down. For months I was barely functional: the high doses of Adderall had messed up my adrenal system. I was unable to work, and, for six months, spent the majority of every day in bed, while recovering. I discovered Citicoline when I tried the 5-hour Energy Shot; it is the main ingredient in it. The product helped me sooo much, without the bad side effects of adderall. The problem was, those Energy Shots are too expensive. $4 a day, which I could not afford, because I wasn't working. Also the Energy Shots had caffeine as well, which is counterproductive to your adrenal system trying to rebuild itself. I googled and read that the Citicoline in the energy drinks is a natural psychostimulant, meaning the benefits are very similar to Adderall, but it is non-addictive. I read some doctors used it to help patients come off of cocaine. I wanted to be able to take just the citicoline by itself, without the caffeine in the Energy Shots, but I couldn't find any locally, except for at one store, where the same product was $45. Before, I had miraculously come down to 30 mg of Adderall a day. I was barely functioning on that. I received my order of the Cognizin yesterday. Yesterday and today, I have only needed 10 mg of Adderall, which is hardly anything, seeing as how I used to take almost 100 mg a day. I also had had damage to my short-term memory as an adverse reaction to another drug I had taken two years ago. It was a real hindrance. I noticed on the Cognizin, it is suddenly better than it has been in two years. I used to reach my hand into my purse for something, and literally, by the time my hand was in my purse, I would have forgotten what I had been reaching for. It was terrible. I'm not going to exaggerate and say I no longer need any Adderall; however, not only has this supplement dramatically decreased my need for it, but I feel so much better, because it doesn't have the side effects Adderall has. Adderall was causing me to feel jittery, to crash, and I always felt too hot, because it is a vasoconstrictor, meaning your body is not as efficient at cooling itself off. The past two days, because I only needed 10 mg of Adderall, I barely feel any side effects now. I feel so much better being on a combination of mostly Cognizin, and Adderall only when I'm studying, as opposed to needing it constantly just to function. I also don't know at this point if my short-term memory will completely heal or not, but it is better than it has been in two years, which is more than I had hoped for. Overall, this is one of the best products I have ever come across. The Adderall was so expensive too. By needing less, I can probably get what I need every month for $25, as opposed to $100, or $300 for the XR.

I've been taking Healthy Origins Cognizin Citicoline for almost one year. I have run out a few times and decided to wait to reorder, to see if I noticed a difference when not taking Cognizin Citicoline. After several cycles of not taking this supplement, I discovered it does indeed make a difference regarding my memory, particularly short-term memory. I find I have better recall of random things - particular words, people's names and generally improved clarity and focus when drafting emails or other writing. I have recommended this supplement to family and friends and make my husband take Cognizin Citicoline on a daily basis. I believe I benefit from my husband taking this supplement even though he is not sure if it improves his memory. :-) One other thing I have experienced and it is not something I've read about regarding benefits of this supplement, is an improvement regarding nerve pain. I was aware the pain I experience had improved. I realized if I was off Citicoline for a period of time, the pain was more intense. This realization was in hindsight and not something I expected. After multiple cycles of not taking this supplement and then starting again, the pain was subdued noticeably after a couple weeks of daily dosage. It was not something I expected but now, it is another reason I include Citicoline among my daily supplements. I would not recommend it as a pain management supplement but I do believe it has helped to improve my pain issue. edit: 03/04/2014 - After reading some of the other reviews, I thought I should post a comment regarding dosage. After reading through some of the studies regarding ciiticoline, which tested a much higher dosage, I had decided I would increase my dosage from a single capsule daily to taking three capsules in the morning. I did not notice much improvement with memory or focus at the lowest dosage. I increased dosage to two capsules a day and noticed some improvements. I decided to increase to three capsules a day and definitely notice a difference. All the studies appeared to be testing a much higher dosage than what is suggested as a daily dosage on the bottle label.

I have purchased this supplement numerous times in the past. First, for my Dad and now for the mother of my sister-in-law. It works! Someday, I could be taking this myself...hopefully much later than sooner!

Don’t go a day without taking them. Been a few months now taking these supplements and I couldn’t be happier. Helps me get that edge I need throughout the day as a student with my studies in a healthy fashion. Anyone you might find themselves struggling at times, recommend these along with good nutrition and balanced diet to help improve cognitive function. Was recommended to me by my doctor. And I’m happy they did.

I think this product helped my memory, but the headaches and heartburn are too much. Stopped using g it

I'm not sure if I've noticed any positive effects yet, but I haven't gotten any negative ones. I will update this later on if I notice anything.
