Such an underrated figure!
Got my NECA Godzilla 1984 in today, my god does he look fantastic! which is sad all I hear is how NECA messed it up, Look Godzilla 1984 is a very difficult design to get good reference of. plus We should be happy to to get this figure at all, with all the companies that hold onto the film to this day that prevents it from being released in english dub (and leads me to pirate the movie, I hold no shame). This figure stands at the 6 inch scale. so it should scale well with most Bandai Godzilla figures, he's pretty damned durable and a lot of fun to pose and display. he's nicely sculpted, has decent paint, Mine came out looking quite nice in my opinion, but I just really hate the green paint they used to highlight the details. while most believe Godzilla is green, he is not, he's a really dark charcoal grey, and adding green just looks really bad on him, one thing I shall have to fix in a repaint, perhaps with a black dry brush to add details. of which, while NECA isn't as super articulated or detailed as say, S.H. Monster Arts, I have to say the figure benefits from it. Sometimes Too much articulation can hurt the sculpt. Now on to what I hear so many people Bitch about. First off we'll talk about the head. when NECA originally showed the prototype the head was tiny and was very cat like. upon the cry of fans they sculpted a larger more screen accurate one. while that was awesome of them, I feel the head may have been made too big. though as I look at photos from the film, Godzilla 84 did have a rather big head. but it's hard to say. Next is the Chest, many have said the chest is too small and not broad enough, While I agree, I do think they may have been counting the shoulder and arms into account. the many videos I've watched the reviewer had the figures arms splayed out out, often sticking straight up. however in the films Godzilla isn't known to sprawl his arms out, this figure is best displayed with the arms closed to the chest, and wouldn't look as goofy. Then there is the tail which is rather short, even I can't get past this. it seems to be an issue with all of NECA Godzilla figures, but what I like is they are using the four segments that are connected by balljoints, with the last half of the tail being bendy wire articulation. I think they should do the whole tail that way so it's more cohesive. or do it all segmented. either way will work. Lastly, is the dorsal plates. they aren't as bad as people think, it's all about how you angle the body. which I've showed in the pictures. most reviewers I see arch the body back, making the dorsal plates look too small. but if you lean him over so the plates are properly spaced from each other, they look alot better. i will say they should be bigger but otherwise I think they look fine. In the end, I love this figure. but in the end it's not my choice. if you want to buy it, get it.

Affordable Awesomeness!
This is my first NECA Godzilla figure. The only other NECA figure I have is Knifehead. Both are phenomenal. NECA makes very study, durable, and well made figures with pretty decent detail which is somewhere between Bandai and S.H. Monsterarts. NECA is now above Bandai as my favorite Godzilla figure supplier, even though their variety isn't exactly huge as of yet. But I LOVE this guy and he fits right into my collection. They are awesome and far more affordable than S.H. Monsterarts.

Godzilla Returns 1984
All I can say is WOW! At first I was not sure what I was going to get, but am I glad I got this figure. They did a fantastic job with this and it is not something your going to find from SH Monster arts for this price. You would be a fool to pass on this one. The Picture they show here is not at all what this figure looks like. I love this figure, well done NECA. If your a fan that is looking for a good representation of the 84 Godzilla then get this figure. AAA+++ Outstanding!!!

Amazing Discontinued Figure
Inspired by the 1985's Return of Godzilla, this NECA toy meets almost every one of my expectations. The sculpt is beautiful, and the paint job is pretty good as well. Articulation on this toy is about as good as any NECA articulation really. My biggest concern are the dorsal fins. Because the figure has two separate pieces that make up his torso, the dorsal fins are stacked on top of and in between each other meaning, if you turn your Goji in any way, his fins will hit each other causing damage to your figure. Favorite part: ONLY 1985 SCULPT WITH ARTICULATION and unfortunately it is now DISCONTINUED so get yours while you can! Lease favorite part: Dorsal fins and price (but you can't find it cheaper elsewhere esp with it's discontinued status).

2020 Boxed - Revised Version
I have gotten all of the Neca Godzilla figures so far, as well as most all of the S.H.Monsterarts figures (minus the repaints). Of all of the Neca figures, one of them that I was most looking forward to was the 1985 version. It has been one of my favorite Godzilla films and one of my favorite Godzilla costumes since I first saw it in 1985. This is probably why the figure was such a let down when they first released it. The resculpt that they did on the head, before it was released ,was MUCH needed but there were still so many inaccuracies that just really were disappointing. Especially since it didn't even equal the quality of sculpting found on the figures that came before it. The issues I had with the figure were that the spines were way too small, and were not very screen accurate plus were missing the outermost rows (that are little more than bumps but are supposed to be there and were on the previous Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla figure), the feet were too small, and the tail design was pretty weak. Due to the tail issues and the feet not having enough range of motion, it was pretty near impossible to get the figure in to a pose that was accurate to his stance in the film. After changing his tail, spines, and feet with another Neca Godzilla figure, I was able to make a version that I liked, but was still very disappointed with the base figure, as it was released. I do suspect that some of the issues were due to the intended re-use of the mold to make the NES "Monster of Monsters" videogame version. Though that game used the 1964 suit as it's game model, I don't think at the time that they had any intentions of making a proper 1964 figure, and they were saving money by re-using and repainting existing figure molds. Fast forward to present day. I saw that Neca was going to be re-releasing their previous figures in new packaging. Which is nice looking packaging with movie poster art and all, but the newer design kind of sucks in comparison to the previous packaging design. The plastic "clamshell" type packaging not only was better for hanging the figures MIP, because the plastic hang tag that was part of the clamshell, was far more rigid and sturdy than the new cardboard hang tags are. These figures are heavy and the hang tags don't hold up well in the store, let alone hanging on a wall for years. Plus the plastic clamshells were clear so you could see the figures without having to repeatedly open a Velcro flap. It appeared that the figures were going to be pretty much the same as the previously released figures just new packaging. Then I saw images of the 1985 figure and noticed right away that it was NOT just simply a re-release! First thing that I noticed right away was that the spines had been resculpted! Not only are these new spines accurately sized but they are now film accurate. They also, very intelligently, were able to add the missing outer rows by simply sculpting them as part of the new spines. Very clever way to add them without having to completely resculpt the entire body. The tail has also been redesigned, and is much better. The feet are still the same but either something was tweaked, or simply the tail changes, have now allowed for some very nice film style posing. Another very welcome changed is that the wrists are now hinged, so the hands can now move up and down without constantly popping off of the old weak ball joint that the figure previously had. The figure sports a new paint job too. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It is a nice dull greenish grey color. It does look very nice, but honestly is much lighter than the suit was in the film, and should be closer to black. It appears that he figure was actually molded in black and then painted. I know this because the figure I opened has a very noticeable square patch on it's right hip joint that didn't get painted. So quality control is definitely still an issue, and of course it is on the hip that is on the back side of the figure when it is in the packaging, and being in a box also blocks your view from searching for such noticeable defects before purchasing. I also think that the teeth were painted better on the original release. They were a nice off white with a brown ink wash that accurately depicted his teeth in the movie. This new release has far more brighter white teeth. About the same shade as the eyes, and more "bright and sparkly" looking, when compared to the film. Overall this new updated version of the 1985 figure is seriously a nice figure. FAR better than the previous release and much more what I had been hoping for from the initial release. It may have gotten a 5-star from me, but the still smallish feet, nice but inaccurate paint job and especially the defective spot on the paint job, made me knock off a star.

Muy buena figura de Neca, es mi cuarto Godzilla, me gustan los detalles de la marca, los puntos de movilidad no son tantos, pero aún así estan muy padres.
