Good but kind of hyped
Its a great movie don't get me wrong its just kind of not like how I expected it would be with all the parse it gets. The plot and story are good, the characters are how yo would expect and are good and mysterious but it felt like it started really slowly and then it sped through the whole horror part. I don't remember much form the first part but the clown and his chicken.DVD was it great condition for second hand and looked brand new, played smoothly.Overall a great movie and should be watched just don't listen to anyone that tries to say its the greatest horror or that its iconic as its only iconic because of the big bang theory.

A gritty, gory mess
If there’s one thing modern cinema is criticised for, it’s that it’s made by executives and corporations rather than by fans of the genre itself. However, that cannot be said for the delightfully-titled ‘House of 1000 Corpses.’ It’s made by the (equally delightfully-named) Rob Zombie, who, despite being better known at the time as a musician, is definitely a fan of the horror genre. But, without even going into who made it, perhaps it’s the title that should give you all the information you need to know as to whether or not you’ll like this film. If you’re expecting anything deep and meaningful then you’re going to turn it off within minutes. What you have is a pretty standard ‘slasher’ flick (okay, so it probably bears more in common with ‘Texas Chainsaw’ types films than ‘Scream,’ but there are definitely ‘slasher’ elements thrown in there), but presented with a sense of art. Or, if you’re feeling a little harsher, you could replace the word ‘art’ with ‘bits-thrown-in-that-look-like-they’re-taken-right-out-of-an-MTV-music-video.’Rob Zombie tries to do something different with the way the film is shot. It’s got a lot of cutaway films and stylishly-filmed segments which break up the narrative. Some may find those interesting and different, others may find that they distract from the narrative – it’s really a question of taste, but you can see his music video influence shining through. But, you probably don’t watch a film called ‘House of 1000 Corpses’ for its artistic integrity – you want the gore. And it doesn’t disappoint on that one. It’s packed full of disgusting characters and imagery – from grotesque mutants to gorgeous babes (who are equally grotesque when it comes to their tendency to murder people at the drop of a hat – Sheri Moon Zombie, I’m looking at you!).Overall, ‘House of 1000 Corpses’ isn’t an original story, but it’s done differently enough and with the required levels of gore that will satisfy anyone who wants to watch a film entitled so. It does feel a little ‘raw’ here and there. Sometimes I felt that was almost intentional, other times I wondered whether Rob Zombie was letting his visions get a little too convoluted. However, he definitely proves that he can do more than sing (assuming you agree with that in the first place!) and, seeing as he’s a fan of the genre, hopefully this will be a good stepping stone to launch what might be a promising horror career.

Friday night gore fest that makes Hammer look weak
A typical gore fest that should be expected from a Rob Zombie flick so if you are of a nervous disposition, don't watch.Heavily influenced by 70's cult The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Zombies film follows two couples on a tour of the small towns of good old US of A to find the freakiest, scariest amusements and museums for a self penned book which one of the fella's is writing. Happening upon a roadside amusement run by Captain Spalding (Sid Haig in a chilling comic performance), he gives an over view of america's most illustrious killers, including Dr Death (who no one has heard of). After sending them on there way to find Dr Deaths gallow tree they encounter Baby (Sheri Moon) the pretty unsuspecting blonde of the Firefly family, who are anything but normal. In true horror film fashion a flat tyre forces them to shelter at the Firefly homestead but with horrifying consequences for all involved.Film is presented uncut, unusual for the amount of gore content. Story is also far from new but many original elements have been incorporated to make it a decent horror yarn.Bluray contains a 5 min behind the scenes special (looks like it was ported from DVD) and theater trailer. Video and audio quality are excellent.

Not for everyone, but lovers of gore will enjoy it.
This has got some really rather side reviews from professional critics, who point out it's derivative (of The Texas Chainsaw , I suspect). It is, largely. The director even says he wishes he could have changed a few things, and as it was his first film, I get that. That said, this film, it isn't bad. It sees Rainn Wilson, and 3 college buddies (his girlfriend and another couple) give a woman a lift home, only to stumble upon a house of horrors when they arrive. Much gore, and violence, then occurs. It's never going to be The Magnificent Ambersons, but it's perfectly enjoyable, if you enjoy gorefests. Oh, and an initial scene in a gas station (where 2 character actors are just having a ball with the material) almost makes the film worth the money on its own.
