My kid absolutely loves this Melissa & Doug Sushi Slicing Play Set. The wooden pieces are well-made, colorful, and sturdy — perfect for little hands. Velcro connects the “sushi” pieces, so slicing with the toy knife is satisfying and safe. It’s great for imaginative play and also helps with fine motor skills. This is so fun and cute. The pieces are true to size. The materials seem sturdy and quality. No assembly required. I just keep an eye on my little one when she’s playing with this (or anything) because she still wants to put everything in her mouth, but this kept her attention for a while.

Gift for a 5 year old boy. Along with Melissa and Doug grill and Melissa and Doug pizza. Quality is way above most pretend food available. I buy this brand for my grand children. I’m never disappointed. I added a storage box to help him store the pieces. He loved it!

We bought this set, and several other pretend food sets for my two and four year old boys for Christmas. This has been by far the favorite, for both boys and me as well. From the moment they opened the package, the kids have been serving up sushi to everyone that comes in the house. My four year old loves to use the cleaver to chop the individual servings. It did take my two year old a little longer to figure out that the individual pieces had velcroed together to make a large sliceable roll. Once he figured that out they were a couple of sushi making gurus. They've both decided that sushi is 'yummy' and have developed quite the love for California Rolls. I love that this product has made something as 'foreign' as sushi approachable for them. I was pretty impressed with the quality of the product, the pieces are very nicely made, and beautifully painted. The velcro dots seems to be very securely attached, the only place that we've had any issues at all are on the chop sticks, the edge of the velcro on one of the sticks came loose, but a dab of super glue solved that. The box is very cute, and the kids like to sort everything into their individual compartments. The only thing that would make this any better is if it had a lid.

My Littlest first played with this set after having her appendix removed at the hospital. She absolutely LOVED it. Santa brought her this set for Christmas and we've had a sushi date at least once a week ever since! It's very cute, well made, and easy to play with. The storage box is really handy for keeping the pieces together. 10/10 recommend for any kid with an imagination and a love of food.

Our son who is less than 2 years old loves to play with this toy. He especially likes cutting the sushi with the knife. The velcro is just strong enough to hold, but easy enough for him to cut. It is fun to make little sushi rolls while we make sushi for dinner as a family. Thought it was a decent price for a well made toy. It seems to hold up okay so far, although the knife has had a bit of chipped edges and paint coming off where it has been hit against other pieces of wood. Overall great buy though.
