Sturdy and spacious
I ordered this desk and only 1 box arrived. Box 2 was nowhere to be found. Eventually I had to send box 1 back and order the desk from the website for $150 more. Had I not previously owned several Sauder desks, I would have went with another brand. I’ve owned three other Sauder desks and it’s become my go to office furniture over the years because they’re sturdy and reliable. It’s as close to hardwood as you can get without paying the price. All of the desks have been nice looking and solid so I decided to stay with the brand. The three other desks have since been passed on to friends and family due to moving or downsizing and they all love them. I ordered this desk because I renovated my office and needed a desk that was smaller than the previous L shaped Sauder desk that I had. The desk is well made and easy to assemble. I have worked from home for 5 years now so I’m at my desk for at least 40 hours/week, which I would consider heavy use, so I needed a desk that could handle it. This is my favorite desk so far because of the amount of storage space and it’s beautiful. I’m not sure what the hidden door on the front of the desk is supposed to be for, but I’ve stuffed the dozens of wires from my work and home computers in there so I don’t have to look at them. This is an upgrade compared to the other desks because there was nowhere to hide the wires. I have a 34” and 35” ultra wide monitors on top of the desk and there’s still plenty of room left. I took my time and it took about 3 hours to assemble. A few of the pieces didn’t line up so I had to drill my own holes. Unless they changed how it’s assembled, I’m not sure how it would take anywhere close to 8+ hours to assemble this. If you are reading this review and were as confused as I was, the drawer glides for the keyboard tray come attached together and they need to be separated. Maybe it’s just me but I’m not sure why these pieces came assembled as this caused so much confusion. Aside from the shipping (and price inconsistency) issues, I haven’t had a problem with it so far. Since it seems to be made from the same materials as my previous desks, I really don’t anticipate having any issues.

42 steps to assemble, but totally worth it!
Absolutely solid desk for the price and worth the effort to put together. That said - plan for an afternoon of fun and excitement... This was the "final boss" of furniture assembly for me and took me every bit of 3 hours and some help from the wife. Totally worth it though and instructions (all 42 steps) were very easy to follow. Finished product looks outstanding!!! Definitely would recommend!

Lots of pieces and one wasn’t drilled!
This desk comes in two boxes, of course you can’t just start with box A and then move to box B because pats you need for assembly are scattered in both boxes. When you open the boxes prepare to be overwhelmed with the number of pieces in this kit, there are a lot! Some parts are marked directly on the piece with ink while others have stickers. I absolutely HATE when manufactures put stickers on the parts, BUT these all came off super easy and didn’t leave any sticker glue behind. With that said, because they come off so easily, a couple of them came off in the boxes so I had to really spend some time figuring out which part number they were. Once I had the drawer pieces all in piles as the instructions suggested I started the actual build. Right away in step 2 I found a pretty significant issue, one piece made it through production and packaging without a single hole drilled in it! Of course this was a piece that not only had through screw holes, but it also had partial thickness cam lock holes too. In a way I was fortunate to be the one to receive this particular problem piece since I do a lot of wood working I was able to take the piece into the garage and drill all the holes in the right places after a lot of measuring. Once I got past that step the rest of the build was pretty straight forward. Just follow the instructions and don’t rush. The desk looks nice and seems sturdy, I’m not a fan of press board furniture at all, so we’ll see how durable it is in the long run. My only real complaint so far is the one piece that made it through without the holes.

Well designed and good looking.
I purchased for my home office, I assembled with some help from my wife. The assembly takes several hours, but can be performed by most people. It takes coordination and care of 2 or more people to turn the desk over (most physically challenging task). All of my parts were correctly manufactured and included all hardware necessary to complete the installation. We think this is a good looking deck, in both overall appearance and tolerance of assembled parts. I would recommend.

Worst desk ever
Words cannot even begin to describe the frustration and hassle I’ve dealt with as a direct result of purchasing this desk. I’ve literally spent thousands of dollars on it between trying to have it moved and the movers absolutely destroying it during disassembly and reassembly because it’s too big to fit through doorways, having to replace the desk entirely, hiring another company to build it for me because I was too stressed and fed up to rebuild it myself and now the company I’ve hired to build the second desk messed it up too, the whole time complaining about how annoying it was that there were so many parts. Thousands of dollars down the drain and my desk is still not fully functional! Then when I contacted support the only thing they could do was offer me 20% off my next order (even though I’d get the same offer if I signed up with my email?) as if I’d ever order something from this company again. I had to go out of my way to ask for the numbers to different handymen in my area that the company has worked with before and deems reputable so now will have to spend even more money on this stupid desk. I honestly feel completely defeated and truly sick to my stomach and I hate so much that there’s nothing anyone can even do.

Just what I wanted
I looked at desks for a very long time and took my time in deciding which one would best fit my needs. I read the reviews and was prepared for the assembly to be a major project (which it was), but the two of us got it done successfully. It was probably more than a 6 hour process from beginning to end, and we are both very capable people. However, the directions are clear for the most part, and the parts are organized and labeled well. Do yourself the favor of laying everything out beforehand and maybe even watch a couple of the posted videos to help. The screws to attach four of the knobs on the drawers were too short, so I found longer ones elsewhere to accommodate them. Other than that, everything was in perfect condition and well-packet. The desk is very heavy and absolutely beautiful. I can’t speak to durability yet, but it appears to be very sturdy and well-made. I love the look and the large workspace. Very happy with the purchase.

It's not hard to assemble, but VERY time consuming
The color is beautiful. The parts are great quality. The instructions are VERY clear and the parts are easy to identify. But this took a really long time to assemble. For me, by myself it was 8 hours. There are about 6,783,567 parts. But the instructions are clear and have cute little comments in the booklet along the way about how long assembly is taking. This is EXTREMELY HEAVY. I and another person struggled to put it right side up after the bulk of the assembly was complete. You can always pay someone from task rabbit to assemble it if you're not brave enough to take it on. But if you like puzzles, just throw on some true crime TV, get a really caffeinated beverage and dig in. Remember to have someone strong help you flip it over on its feet. It's really a beautiful desk.

EXTREMELY CHALLENGING TO PUT TOGETHER & IT SEEMS TO NOT WANT TO STAY TOGETHER
The Better: The desk LOOKS nice with all the distressed lines, etc., but its particle board and evidently does not hold well together. Definitely have someone who knows what they're doing put this together... there's TONS of pieces! The Worse: I signed up for the assembly service at $65; the assembly team sent ONE GUY 37 days after my purchase who was here 5 hours trying to put it together. He tried his best to be very organized putting this together, however he needed two more hands; it IS NOT a one man job with the insane amount of parts needing assembling, knobs, top, sides, drawers, etc. With that, there were parts that didn't fit correctly, and two, it ended up coming apart within minutes of his completion due to the material being PARTICLE BOARD. The one side had not attached correctly and when he went to tighten it, it evidently just stripped its way through the board and could no longer attach leaving two huge damaged 1/2 circle the screws no longer fit in. The entire side panel was loose and pulled away from the top and drawer section making it very difficult to open and close the drawers. I could not get it to stay in place. I went back and forth with the Assembly team AND Amazon Chat for 2 weeks trying to get resolution even after reaching out only 5 minutes after he walked out the door texting them and calling them. Mind you, the return time expired on the damaged/non-working drawers desk, the assembly team took 37 days to come out and assemble.... a HUUUUGE MESS.
