Portable, colorful music stand
While in Germany a few months ago (my first trip to Europe!) I borrowed a music stand. It was cute, colorful, and sturdy too! I took note of the brand, K&M, and planned to look for one like it when I returned home. Of course Amazon had it. I had a couple of folding music stands; the Hamilton Combination is not too bad. I like that the angle of the music rack can be adjusted. The other Hamilton stand I have lacks that feature. Unfortunately, neither of these stands is very sturdy and the Combo especially tends to slide down so the music eventually ends up somewhere around knee-height. I found several models of K&M stands, but this was the only multi-colored one (which I loved)! There are cheaper folding stands, but based on the experience I've had with those, they don't come close to this in quality. This K&M stand has multiple height adjustments (with screws to tighten them so they DON'T slip) and the angle of the music rack is adjustable. One caution: there is not a very wide RANGE of adjustments for the rack. I really would like to be able to adjust the rack almost flat (parallel to the ground) but it won't quite go that far. I still like it. :) The stand is quite sturdy, capable of holding a thick book without a sign of buckling. It is heavier than some other folding music stands, but that is the price one pays for sturdiness! It is compact and easy to transport in its folded configuration. Just a couple of issues. . . I was disappointed that the stand did not have as many colors as I expected--it's in primary colors only. The one I borrowed also had green, purple, and pink. It should be noted that the music rack is not super-simple to fold and unfold. Make sure to follow the directions (pictures included) or you might damage it. It's not at all complicated or difficult to remember, it's just not entirely intuitive, which is why the instructions are included! (there was a leaflet in the box as well as diagrams on the outside of the box!) I would recommend this stand to anyone in need of a portable music stand! There are other colors including plain black if you want something less flamboyant.

Strongly Recommended.
Our house is called "Rainbow's End". I ordered this to use at my sister's wedding, which we held in the front yard. It was perfect. It's also sturdy, and lighter than the heavy-duty K&K stand that's been my favorite for years. Unfolding the desk on K&K stands is a little fiddly until you get used to it, but the construction of the joint between the stand and the desk means that it folds down more compactly than many stands that look similar. It fits perfectly in a suitcase.

The best stands out there for gigging musicians.
I learned about these from a friend who gigs regularly. I finally got tired of flimsy, cheap, unreliable stands. This is seriously one less thing to worry about at a gig. They cost a little more, but worth it.

Love this cheerful multi colored stand!
I just got this music stand, and so far I am delighted with it. It is a little heavier than I had hoped, a little tricky to figure out the unfolding/folding routine (I got mine at a substantial discount, used, because someone not mechanically inclined had really screwed it up and bent several pieces by folding it wrong... but it was not hard to straighten out) and I wish it had come with a bag to carry it. So for those reasons I knocked off one star, but really, I love it! I wanted a stand that wouldn’t get lost in the sea of black stands when I go to music camps, and this cute rainbow stand should do the trick. Note, it isn’t really “rainbow” - just red, yellow and blue - but that’s fine for me. For regular use at home, I have a sturdier (black) stand that will hold heavy songbooks. I am not sure how this stand would hold up if burdened with that kind of heavy load, but it will do just fine as a traveling stand. I am very happy with it!

Best Mic Stand!
It is the best mic stand I have had. It is really sturdy, and the materials are the best in class. It has a 5-year warranty also.

Not that sturdy after less than a year
Pros: Great color choices, light weight, compact when folded Cons: Couldn't hold the weight of the music binder even when screw was tightened and holder would tilt too far back (but the stand itself didn't tilt or fall over.) Bars on the music holder bent easily Will be buying a second portable stand for my other child and will try a slightly heavier and more solid stand in the hopes it will be able to hold the binder or an iPad.

This stand makes you feel fancy...with a touch of gray.
I play 100 shows a year. I had a Hercules which lasted almost 500 drunken gigs. I slammed that thing in the trunk so many times I lost count. Also had a few "bigger" people fall on me and the mic stand. So why did I not go with the Hercules? After 500 gigs or so you learn that the telescoping boom is the way. I sit on a bar stool and sometimes I have to put the stand on the right inside of a corner so it cant extend much past the main pole so people don’t jam my mic into my upper lip. That and the Hercules has to be readjusted after a while. My beer and shot holder fit it well. The K&M is heavy so it seems sturdy. Super easy to use that any drunken musician can use it properly. Only 4 stars because I have yet to drop it out of a truck or run it over like the Hercules. I sure miss my old faithful but this K&M seems so fancy I would think Bill Gates would use her.

Great Mike stand. It is built solid but not bulky. Enough weight to be stable yet not so heavy as to be a burden to take on a spur of the moment recording set. I spent most of my career as a licensed toolmaker so when I say this stand was well designed and well built I can say so with confidence. It is worth every cent. Buy cheap and you end up paying more since you will need to buy it again.
