I absolutely love the self-sharpening feature on the knife block — such a game changer. These knives are great middle-of-the-price-range quality, sharp, sturdy, and comfortable to use. Perfect for everyday cooking without spending a fortune. Highly recommend!

Great set of knives. The built in sharpener was the reason for my purchase. No more dull knives when you are ready to use.

The misses has wanted a set like this for as long as I've known her. She was quite excited when these were order for Christmas. The knives are sharp and attractive. A nice complete set that we will cherish for a long time to come. There is however a design flaw in the concept of a self sharpening block. Having a sharpener in each of the holders requires the user to rinse and wipe ever time prior to use. This adds an extra step to the already labor intensive task of cooking. Perhaps having a singular slot dedicated to sharpening or a sharpener on the side of the block. But not in each slot. This also creates a collection of dust and metal shavings at the bottom of each slot to be cleaned out from time to time. Despite this the set now sits prominently and proudly on our kitchen counter.

First - amazing knives. Great. Razor sharp, efficient, and a great variety (I got the 20 piece set). Downside... the knife block takes up a huge amount of counter space. I had to reorganize my entire kitchen to find a good way to fit it in. For me, it was worth it, because I do a lot of cooking, and great knives are a must for me. Another downside... the knife block has a huge crack that started at one corner at some point during shipping. I'm trying to get a replacement, but either this particular set is going out of stock, or it's tripled in price... I might have to just live with the crack, which is incredibly disappointing for such a lovely and solid piece. Still, I'll give it 5 stars, because the knives are great, I love that the non-serrated ones have sharpeners built into the block, and I totally love using them.

This is probably the most money I would ever spend on a set unless you are a chef. I am talking about average family living life here. After spending countless hours over the years watching top 10 videos I decided to purchase this set for a couple of reasons. These can go into the dishwasher for one, although I would recommend hand washing over that you could still do it and not worry too much. The other reason is that for this price (20 Pc ~ $173) you usually do not see sharpeners for each knife (Straight edges only) The sharpener accessory (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GJXT272?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) will still be needed periodically but you will need to sharpen them much less often than without them. The block is a perfect size to fit under cabinets on the counter and really no issues to speak of, this set is perfect for any family!

These knives are just terrible. I purchased another set of J.A. Henckels knives for my daughter that were made in China, these were made in India I think. Both sets came at the same time. My daughters were the 7pc. self sharpening block J.A Henckels International. Regardless, I compared the China made verses what I got and the difference was insane. These knives easily bend, feel and look incredibly cheap. The China made were sturdy, had a good balance, good look and just felt like they were made better. After comparing my set to hers, I boxed these up (which I received yesterday) and will be sending them back tomorrow. I have several pieces of J.A. Henckels cookware and they make great products. These knives are NOT a representation of their products! There is no way they would put their honest name on this crap. I could have purchased these knives at the dollar store for a few bucks. Garbage.

My husband bought this set due to the Henkel name. The set I received had one steak knife with a funky sharp end on it, and the knives are quite dull.
