Braun vs Phillips
My first venture into the realm of electric shaving occurred last year when I bought a Philips Smart Shaver 7000 series. The Philips was OK, but I have fairly sensitive skin, and it would leave my skin red and blotchy after each use, unless I shaved wet while in the shower. It would also miss several fairly large patches of hair, despite multiple attempts going over the same area in the mirror. The fine trimming attachment was also a bit useless, so the razor could never really get at the hard-to-reach hairs just under the nose. All this started to get a bit annoying, and I’d find myself preferring to use my old razor instead, somewhat defying the point of having it! As such, I’d been toying with the idea of replacing the Phillips for a while. I was torn between sacking-off electric shaving all together, sticking to the wet-shave standard Gillette/Wilkinson sword models and classing it as a failed experiment, vs upgrading to a different style premium electric razor. The cost of the premium models (c.£300-500) had always been prohibitive. However, when I came across this Braun Series 9 with cleaning station for a massively reduced price (£169.99) in the Black Friday sales, I thought ‘now or never!’, so took the plunge. I must say, I’m really pleased. The set-up was really easy, and the first use was great. It handled my skin really well, and left no annoying patches. Afterwards, my skin was soft and there were no red blotches in sight. It also successfully got at the hard-to-reach areas with no issues at all. It feels solid and well-made, but isn’t too heavy, so it’s easy to maneuver. The cleaning station is fairly chonky, but isn’t too intrusive. It sits quite happily on my bathroom shelf in the corner with plenty of room to spare. I returned to find the unit perfectly clean, fully charged and ready to use again. So, all-in-all, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone else, especially at this price. It’s good for sensitive skin, quick, efficient and has a handy extra blade for hard-to-reach areas without having to take the head off and add another separate attachment. For me, at least, it seems to work better than the rotary razor equivalents. That being said, I haven’t tried the equivalent Phillips 9000 model, but I’m satisfied enough with this Braun not to bother.

Extremely smooth shave.
Ever since I started shaving I have used Phillips rotary blade shavers. I always buy top of the range as shavers last a good while so worth the shell out for the quality during the lifetime. However the last shaver I bought, a Phillips Series 9000 was awful even new the best I could attain was a low stubble. So this time I thought maybe try a different type and brand of shaver. I am certainly not disappointed, the Braun Series 9 provides one of the closest and smoothest shaves I have ever experienced. Which is ultimately what defines a shaver. I will for the purpose of balance put it some negatives though as something may be deal breakers to some people. I find the shave incredibly bulky and quite heavy, this is quite a minor niggle, however it does also affect the ability for quickly mowing the stubble lawn especially when it comes to the area around the philtrum. The vibrations are quite aggressive, this may be due to the different type of shave to what I am used to rotary shavers don't really have much feelable vibrations on the face also this does something involving sonic vibrations to help the shaver glide. Either way this thing feels like a a mobile phone vibration on steroids running across your face and takes a lot of getting used to especially making that jump from a rotary. Sensitive skin, I have a pretty poor complexion and get skin irritation very easy, I cannot use shaving foam which is why I use electric shavers. However this shaver does seem to exasperate my sensitive skin. I have to use moisturizing cream afterwards to prevent rashes. However, the ease of shaving and the time that shaves off (pun intended), means I get to have that additional skin care time even on a busy morning. So in a way it is a net win. The cleaning station, I don't really have much issue with the cleaning station, although it is quite a bulky bit of kit for my small bathroom. One thing to be aware of is the cleaning fluid smells of when used. Not a problem as I love lemons but some people might not like it and there does not seem to be any choice. Hopefully Braun might make some options in the future but given the cleaning station is more a maintenance feature than a grooming feature they probably won't. Also the device chooses what level of cleaning it will do, I have not found anyway to change it manually, which means if you want to economize on the fluid use then tough luck, the only option you have is do or do not. Overall though this is definitely a 5 star piece of kit well worth a 200 quid price tag.

It’s not worth it at all. I invested in it hoping it’ll be better for my sensitive skin but is not. The shave is not perfect and leaves a few hair behind and also the skin is braised

Simplemente perfecta.
