Large Sets Are Best
These are excellent, unique wc-type brush pens, but they work best with the use of a water-brush as well, to blend in stroke-lines and graduate the color. (They don't work the same as a regular brush and watercolors creating pools that blend without lines. You have to add the liquid to the paper before the color dries..) Zig Kuretake are high-quality across the board. Always. With everything they make. I have and use many of their pen varieties... I am very happy with the 60-color set, though be forewarned that it includes 48 newer colors plus the colors from the original 12-color set , so if that is what you started with first, like me, you will have at least 12 color repeats... I don't mind, as they were ready to replace anyway after nearly 5 yrs., but If you are serious about collecting these pens, the best tip I can give is to start with the 90-color set, if it's in the budget, then add on to those colors with the unique 30-color sets they bring out new each year. This way there are no repeats. They are also sold individually at many art stores, so I will supplement the colors I am missing between the 60 and 90 sets and build on from there. My pens have all lasted me at least 4 yrs. and still going strong... I have yet to have one dry out on me.. At first I didn't think lighter and darker shades of the same tones were necessary, but later learned that using various shades together and blending the edges was the way to really make these pens and your creations pop. I now want them all! It's also very helpful to turn the pens upside down in their clear case so that the colored ends are easily visible instead of their white caps, and definitely keep a log or swab-book with both the number and color-name for no-confusion ordering and reference... Shipping from Japan they arrived in perfect condition and 1 week early, in case you're wondering, and all of them fresh and juicy!!! Zero damage. I have already moved on to my next 30 new-color set!

Great set of markers
I bought these pens for one purpose: to color in coloring books. I have yet to use all the colors, but so far the colors I have used are great. There a few fluorescent colors. The color number of these are preceded with an "F". The brush tip tapers to a super fine tip. If you need reading glasses, you'll definitely want to wear them to see the tip. Otherwise, it's easy to color outside the lines. So far, they have yet to bleed through the paper in my books. I have nearly a full set of Copic Sketch markers, and I will say this, I like the brush tip on these markers much better. However, these do not blend nearly as well as Copic, but they blend well enough for coloring books. The tips clean easily enough when they happen to pick up another color. I think they're a tad expensive for what they are: one-ended, non-refillable markers. However, for adult coloring books, I find them perfect. My Copics are sorted into small buckets that hang from a rail on the craft room wall, and are not portable like these markers. Another reason I decided to buy them is because the case is nice, secure, and travels well whether it's from room-to-room, in the car, or on a plane. I like that the one end has a tip that is the color of the ink in the pen. It makes it super easy to see which color it is because it's hard to tell through the brush cap. I sent a box to my adult daughter and she literally squealed and jumped up and down; they made her so happy and that made me happy. All-in-all, this box of markers is nothing less than pure joy.

Quality No Overlapping-marks Pens
Purchased these for my daughter’s finals project and they worked amazingly! The colors blended seamlessly as she worked - no streaks or overlap marks which was imperative to have that professional look. The colors were vibrant and she loved the feel of the pen. Would definitely recommend for art majors or the casual artist. We had to pay extra for shipping to get it here in time, but if you can plan ahead better than a college freshman :) it will be fine.

Vibrant & Worth Every Dollar!!!
I absolutely love this brand. The brushes are amazing. I've attached an image of some art I did today. I created a human mermaid . The scales are the watercolor brush pens on top of OHUHU alcohol markers. Both work very well together so buy both if you create art with multiple mediums

Excellent Quality and Versatile but Bit of a Laerning Curve
I like these brush pens so much that I'm slowly expanding my set. They have at least three purposes that I've discovered so far. First, as water-based dyes, they can be used much like regular watercolors. That said, I'm pretty sure they are not light fast (unlike most colors of the Winsor and Newton Watercolor Markers), so that is a consideration if you want a painting created with these markers to remain bright over time. Second, given their ability to make very small to larger, thicker marks, they are very useful for adult coloring books. And since they are water-based, they do not bleed through all but thin paper (e.g., copy paper or slightly heavier) paper. Third--and I haven't heard this mentioned much (if at all), I really like these markers for doing brush lettering. That said, it does take awhile to develop adequate control of the pens. But hand lettering does take considerable practice to get proficient and that includes using these markers. Another feature of these markers that I haven't seen noted elsewhere is the fact that they have the color on the bottom of the marker, which makes it very easy to grab the right color when they are stored upside down. And these colored ends have good fidelity with the ink color, unlike some other markers. I have tried to point out features of these super little pens not covere (or covered much) in other reviews. I hope it is useful.

I love how these perform. They are easy to blend and make a very fine line if needed

How I love, love, love using these brush markers. My copics have been delegated to the back of the cupboard to make room for these, and wow, are they just gorgeous to use. I much prefer water-based than alcohol, and the colour range of these is amazing. They also blend so beautifully. The brush is smooth and fine, so getting into the details is possible in ways that other pens simply can't achieve. The colours are quite rich, so it's worth getting the blender if you like using paler colours or blending out to a fade. Watercolour pens work well with these too, however, I've found the blender to be the best when aiming for a smooth, even diluted colour. The quality of paper makes a HUGE difference, and I've found them to blend well on smooth cardstock or ivory paper if in colouring books (like the paper in Johanna Basford's books). They also work really well on watercolour paper, however much more ink is used and I've found I have less control with blending because the paper absorbs so much ink so quickly. Using them on wet watercolour paper is also good but they very much behave similar to watercolour paint, in that you're best to allow the ink to do it's own thing and go with its flow, than try to control it too much. I've found it best to dab colours to blend and play with on an acrylic or silicone palette, then use my blending marker or a water brush to apply to the page when I want to apply or blend with lighter or diluted dark shades. The skin tones you see in the image I've shared are not included with this set but can be purchased separately in the portrait set (6). I also used watercolour pencils to complement some of the colours I used from the 60 set.

I had purchased two individual brush pens of this brand, but had no idea where. When I found them on Amazon I bought the 48 colour pack. I received them 16 days earlier than the earliest date in the delivery range. Arrived well packaged and ready to use. Despite having been on the porch in a snowstorm, they worked right out of the box. You can get an amazingly thin detail line with these, as well as a true brush stroke look. From there, you can add water to get true watercolour shading and blending. A quality product from a world famous and respected manufacturer. Highly recommend these and I will buy more.
