RubiesRubie's Costume Co Buccaneer Hat Costume

This hat was great for my Halloween costume. It was big but I was wearing a wig so that worked good. It stayed on fine. The bows seemed to be sewed on upside down, I could have easily fixed them but chose to remove them completely. I got the hat a couple weeks prior to my party and used a binder clip to clip the top together for shaping. I'm also storing it with the clip on and in the plastic bag. Very nice costume hat for the $$.

The quality of this is so poor, it is unusable. One of the bows was falling off and hanging by a thread. This does not look as portrayed in the picture at all. The crown of the hat, the part that sits on your head is so shallow, maybe a small child or infant could wear this, but not an adult. I do not have a giant head or anything, either. The fabric is a cheap material, but the crown of that hat is crumbled, and the lace sticks up poorly and zig zaggy. There is a feather on it, but clearly it was just a tiny feather (no smaller than a duck feather or something like that) and it's just tacked onto the top, you can't even see it unless you are standing over it, which no one would ever be doing if the hat were on. I'll add photos when I get home. What a disapointment and what a rip off.

The hat was a little big, but I sewed in some stuffing to help shrink it. Otherwise the hat was exactly what I needed to complete my costume. Great Product.

Good for costume but definitely not as cute as the picture. You have to mold it into shape yourself and it's difficult to do and get it to look good .

Actually, no stars. I’ve ordered several things that disappointed me for various reasons but this is the worse. The hat was shipped in a plastic bag folded in half. You can visualize what that did to the wired rim. The wire was terribly misshapen and broken in one place. The whole thing was a crumpled mess. The lace was only partly sewn on and the bows fell off within minutes. I make hats so, optimistically, I chose to make repairs because I planned to use the hat a few days later. I removed the lace (that was easy since it was just hanging on) and I managed to replace the wire (not easy). My attempts to smooth out the crown were just not very successful. I didn’t need it to look anywhere near perfect since it was to become a Barbarossa-style pirate hat but if I’d been smart, I’d have returned it with a sympathy card right away. This hat was dead on arrival. Just pass on this one.

This was (obviously) for a costume. It made my outfit look much more pirate-y! It gets pretty warm, but that is to be expected from a costume hat.
