Ideal storage for pastels, pencils
For me, this is the ideal solution to storage of a moderately large selection of soft and hard pastels. I bought the four drawer version, and iit easily accommodates my collection of about 130 semi-hard pastel sticks and 35 pastel pencils, with one entire drawer left over for a basic selection of my soft pastels. There's plenty of drawer height for my Rembrandt soft pastel sticks (which are thicker than the semi-hard sticks), though I understand that someone posted that the drawers aren't high enough for Unison pastels. The sample I received has none of the defects described by others. It's attractive, compact, and the drawers slide in and out smoothly whether they're full or empty. It was not advertised as having foam lining, and it didn't come with lining, but that's not essential. A small piece of "cutting mat" could be purchased for about $20 if someone feels foam matting is necessary. ADDED One Year Later - I still think that, for me, this is the ideal storage "system" for my pastels. In fact I like it so much that, as my collection of pastels has grown, I've just bought a second box. By the way, I have not felt that foam matting is necessary.

These are fabulous.
These are fabulous. I can finally see all my supplies without having to rummage thru bins.. The one drawback is the drawers tend to wabble when sliding out and need to be pulled exactly straight. It's a minor issue.

LOVE this thing!!
Where has this piece of furniture been all my life?I’ve always used plastic art bins and they would break down after about a year or two.It was also very hard to organize my different tones of pastels, pencils, kneading erasers, charcoal rubbing tools, my variety of charcoal pencils, pencil sharpeners, paper-glass-plastic-metal pencils and sandpaper in a plastic art box. This 4 drawer art organizer was not only perfect to separately organize each item, but there was more than enough room with just the four drawers! And I have extra room to spare for anything else I might want to add to my supply.Everything is very easy to find an easy to get to and it’s not an eyesore if I leave it out.I highly recommend it, totally worth some money.

This drawer has helped me enjoy and relax while coloring again!
The media could not be loaded. Update 9/14/2016: I have just received my second drawer unit and I did have some drawer issues but I was able to resolve by swapping some around with my first unit I ordered and it fixed the problem. I have also uploaded some additional pictures and a video with the two drawers as I have them in use. On both units I did not get the foam padding inserts, but I have developed another solution. Overall I am still very pleased with this unit and it has really helped organize my drawing materials.Original Post:I am glad I discovered this storage unit! I have collected hundreds of colored pencils, markers, gel pens, etc.! I was tired of searching for a color in a large bulky drawer (which is why I have so many pencils now) and it was taking the joy of coloring away. As soon as it arrived I started putting it right to use! Now all my specialty and regular colors are available and very easy to get, use and replace! It fits perfectly on my desk and doesn't take up very much space. Furthermore, the drawers remove fully so I can have the drawer with its contents set up near my work space! I am going to order one more drawer for my markers and even though I have not put it right to use, I can tell that while sorting everything into the drawers it will be very easy to remove/replace the utensils with little effort, not to mention find the color right away without digging! Every once in a while it is very nice to find something that makes a hobby very enjoyable and easier to relax. I think it is safe to say this unit fits the need very well! While I was shopping between the single, triple and quad drawer selections many reviews were about the build quality not being the best. The unit I received is in great shape, all the drawers close securely and sits flat on the surface of my desk. The dividers are not removable, mine are glued in place, but that isn't a big concern to me and actually made some of the orientation easy to keep certain categories from rolling into others, per say.The wood is not stained, from what I can tell, and perhaps one day I will paint or add custom drawings to it.Overall, I am very pleased with this unit and I do know I will be ordering more in the future! I may even give some away as a gift to friends as well!

A few setbacks but still very useful
Many people are saying the wood is unfinished , which made me expect it to be,so I was suprised to find that it does have a very thin finish on it, I found this out when I was labeling it and the pencil would not stick to the more glossy spotsI love it, and it is much better then what I used before for my prismacolorsIt lost points for two reasons though,What has already begun to bother me is the lack of support for each drawer, instead each one supports the one above it, so when closing any one under another, the top ones need to be lifted for it to go back into placeThe second reason is the lack of any lining, so if you struggle pushing the drawers in like I have ,the pencils slide to the back , which makes seeing them difficult the next time you open it, and it needs to be lifted from the back to slide them forward( so if you aren't gentle the pencils leads can be damaged)I put in every color pencil prismacolor has so far, and gave 3 additional spaces to black, white , and the blender. Even after doing this I still have 3/4 of a drawer leftLove it, it's one of the nicest things available for pencil storage, plus the top has strips of wood that raise my laptop off it, so it works as a laptop stand and keeps it from overheating
