Each generation thinks that we've invented everything from curse words to music to the wheel. It ain't necessarily so.Les Paul is a living genius and a treasure. All of the people roaming around with their i-pods playing multi-track music don't realize that Les made it all possible.Les Paul and Mary Ford may not be as well known as the Andrews Sisters or Bing Crosby, but they are of the same era. I think one of the reasons they are not as well known in some circles is that people didn't realize what they accomplished. Every track on this album contains music history - Mary Ford's vocals (and whenever you hear female harmony, it's her) are layered and beautifully harmonized. And Les Paul has forgotten more than most of ever knew about guitar.What makes this most amazing to me is each track had to be laid over the previous with no mistakes. Imagine starting over from the very beginning of 5 or 6 or 7 layers if you make one mistake! It's easier to make a house of cards unless you have the technical virtuosity of Les Paul and Mary Ford.Mary Ford passed away several years ago, but Les Paul is still going strong at Iridium in NYC Monday nights and the occasional concert at Kean University. See him live, there's nothing like it!

As I said on a previous review for a CD by these two. Find, and listen, to them on You Tube before buying. You'll be hooked immediately. His guitar talent has to be considered one of the earlier greats (before Jimi, Prince, Dickie Betts, Duane Allman, etc.) and her ability to harmonize in MULTIPLE layers is beyond compare. Especially given the basic recording options they had back then. (One of the You Tube videos has them poking fun at themselves using a faux computer...bigger than a fridge.)You Tube it then you'll understand why it's worth buying, especially at those prices

Having seen a fine documentary on Les Paul, we determined to lock away their hit songs. He was such an amazing innovator and total musician, most of which was unknown at the time of his hits. He actually created the electric guitar and the wonderful tones and shades all subsequent electronic music continues to explore. This record does not disappoint, but recalls the great Les Paul/Mary Ford years. How high the moon? Pretty high! Sought, found, ordered, delivered. What more could one ask from a fine supplier? Rehtorical question. Nothing.

If you want some of the best guitar sounds around.....HERE YA GO! Everything from the sound to the price were just what I was looking for and it made a great gift for my partner who rarely listens to music. When he does he always mentions this duo. Thank you for helping me find such a wonderful piece of ear candy.

I love the rhythms and lyrics of Les Paul and Mary Ford. But I didn't get the song I wanted, which was "How High the Moon." I assumed, stupid me, that "All Time Greatest Hits" would include that one. Why don't you list contents on your albums? Is there another way I could have found that song?

I have every Les Paul and Mary Ford vinyl and this was my first CD....will not be the last CD....just wish the CD's had more selections and when they say greatest hits, they should be the greatest but always seems to be a lesser one tossed in....however, am not complaining....these two folks will forever live in our hearts of the best....

Vintage Les Paul & Mary Ford.Brings back memories from the fifties.This along with "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise" album and this disc is all you could want from the true hits of Les Paul.

レスポールは、今は「ギブソン・レスポール」ギターの名器の名前としての方が有名でしょうか。レスポールに憧れた人は多いですね。クラプトン、ジェフ・ベック、キース・リチャーズ・・・。ところで、レエスポールというのは人の名前です。そのレスポールさんは、カントリー音楽の人だったんですね。当時奥様のメアリー・フォードとコンビで一世を風靡する人気者になっていました。レスポールさんは、その過程でエレキ・ギターを開発しました。ソリッドタイプのエレキ・ギターですね。それが、ロックの代名詞のような存在になってしまったわけです。ギターでない方のレスポールさんの音楽が詰まった作品です。ロックのお好きな方にはルーツに迫るような思いがするかもしれません。

モッキンバード・ヒルやバイア・コンディオスなど若い頃に熱中した曲があって、今更興奮します。
