Great kit for band students!
Very pleased with this percussion kit! My 5th grader just began band this year and needed her own xylophone. This kit was well priced compared with those we found in local music stores. The xylophone keys are etched with the notes which is a nice touch. The mallets are much nicer than we expected, well-finished with a decent heft in the hand. She will not be using the included snare drum, but the drum itself is not flimsy or cheap at all, it has a nice weight and sound and affixes to the xylophone stand easily. The entire kit was easy to assemble and more importantly, easy for my daughter to set up and break down quickly. The xylophone stand is surprisingly sturdy and the unit lays right on top using a single screw which can be tightened or released easily. It also has a stand for sheet music/books which isn't as solid as the base but works fine. She won'2 be using that part anyway but it would certainly work for someone in a marching band. The included carrying case is nice and sturdy as well! It functions as both a backpack and has a handle for carrying, very important for a kid heading to school with other books etc. It isn't prohibitively heavy. We added her name using a silver sharpie to the outside and it looks perfect. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with our choice. She got the xylophone, mallets, and stand she needed without breaking the bank! Excellent value for money. Highly recommend for beginning band members.

Top notch for your beginning percussionist!
This kit is perfect for my 12 year old beginning drummer. He is taking lessons in school and this is a slightly cheaper alternative to the kit recommended by the school, especially if you don't want to waste money renting! The kit comes with bells, drum pad, mallots (plastic), pair of drum sticks and a stand with music holder. The stand works for the drum pad and the bells, HOWEVER the music stand will only go on if you are using the bells. So it is recommended to buy a separate music stand for drum pad use. That being said, the included carrying bag holds everything included plus the additional stand with no trouble. Everything assembles easily and is sturdy -- no worries there! And the bag easily slings on my son's back for carrying. Recommended for a beginner when you don't want to invest a ton of money, but still want them to have quality to get started with!

Zipper broken on bag
Zipper on carrying bag was broken, would not allow us to open to get to the kit inside. It was very obvious just by looking that the metal of the zipper was deformed. How disappointing, was about to wrap to give to our daughter for her birthday. NO quality control but the manufacturer OR Amazon who shipped it. Asked for replacement, we will see if we get lucky or not.

Design defect (or production lemon): either way, there is a problem with my bell set
It was fine for 8 months, then suddenly happened that the screw connecting the stand to the base was hitting one of bells, so we could not make any sound out of it. It is a design defect, I'm not sure how i can fix it

Decent but...
I bought this for my son to play in band. The bell kit and drum pad are perfectly fine and comparable to ones we would have rented for a much higher overall price, but the case was junk and the zipper broke, making it unusable. Since he has to carry it on the bus, he needs a case, and it's very difficult to find a replacement. For younger students, be forewarned it's pretty heavy and a rolling case would have been a much better investment.

Awesome value, super speedy shipping
Similar drum kits were being sold locally for double the price. The only advantage was that I could have it right now. Other music stores only wanted to rent-to-own, which I was not interested in. This kit has everything your kid needs for percussion class... it has a music stand and comes in a sturdy zippered bag that has nice carrying handles. I was worried this would be "cheap," because the price was literally half of what I was finding locally. My son says the tones and the quality of the equipment are equal to what some of the other kids have - and he'd complain if that was not the case. He likes nice stuff and is easily impressed by high dollar amounts. Additionally, we needed the kit ASAP for band class. It arrived in about 2 business days. Amazing price and value. Would recommend to anyone who has a kid who wants to play percussion...

Very satisfied
This kit arrived as described sooner than promised. Case is sturdy and well organized with different pockets for the various components and for sheet music, practice books, etc. It is heavy for a fourth grader and bulky to ride with on the bus, but my daughter managed it without incident. Of course, this year she has given up percussion (no surprise there), so I am grateful that I bought this product at a very reasonable price, she had the quality instrument she needed while she experimented in percussion, and I am not out a pretty penny. Renting a kit like this from our local music stores would have cost more, and I feel the quality was more than satisfactory for our needs.
