Great Waterer
This is a good unit for the price, I have three units, but they are good and reliable after you change out all the plastic water fitting to brass. I changed out the plastic fittings on 3/8 pipe, also change out shut off value too brass, change out float , factory one is too big to get adjusted right. The rubber plug that comes with it, horse and cattle pull it out, so I took a bolt wrapped rubber tape around it, put it in the drain hole solve that problem,so after you do all of the upgrades, it is and awesome unit.

POOR, light-duty design - buy the Ritchie instead!
This unit is made so poorly, it boggles the mind why someone would allow this to be marketed as a livestock waterer. First, the screws that attach the white top cover are too long & interfere with the function of the float, we had to remove them & replace them with rivets. Second, the float mechanism is EXTREMELY light-duty with plastic-to-plastic connections that fail at the slightest over-tightening. Third, and most critical, the drain plug is located exposed in the bottom of the basin right where the horses can reach it, and three times this week they have grabbed it with their teeth & pulled it free, draining the unit and leaving the water to run uncontrolled, flooding the paddock. How dare Brower design a LIVESTOCK waterer that is not durable and livestock-worthy?! This was a waste of money, we are extremely frustrated and disgusted.

Works well -- the only thing is that the float ...
Works well -- the only thing is that the float piece that it came with is defective and too large to fit underneath the white cover on top, so it constantly pushes the float down no matter what position it's in and overflows. Looking to find a new float for it that's a different size...

Installation was a challenge. Float parts failed.. DONE WITH BROWER
The installation was difficult. I had to go to my parts bin for adapters to get the correct fittings to attach to my 1/2" fittings. It was leaking once installed. Finally found the elbow fitting was leaking even though there was pipe dope between the vertical fill pipe and the elbow. Disassembly was required (more time). What should have been done easily within an hour took over three hours. I had a Brower waterer in place for over 20 years at different location that was totally reliable. I'm expecting the same reliability now that it is finally installed. 2025, Spring time. The plastic thumb screw on the float mechanism broke during the winter without any water or pressure against it. Once again, I had to dig into my parts bin to find spare parts to repair it. Get it right. Use better plastic parts or provide metal replacements parts. You've lost my business. I'll be replacing all future waters but none with Brower.

Brower is a great company.
This will be my second Brower heated stock tank. The first one went about 16 years. My new one turned out to have a faulty heater, but I phoned Brower and they sent a replacement immediately. Everything now works great. This winter's -30 temps in Wyoming didn't phase it. Great product.

Major design flaw! Fails every 5 months.
Recent change from metal float hardware to plastic has made what once was a great waterer into a piece of junk. We purchased our first brower waterers 6 years ago and after good results with them we decided to install them in the rest of our paddocks. We purchased three in Feb. 2022. Today October, 2022, all three units have failed twice! The problem is the plastic threaded arm and adjustment screw. After the first units broke, we contacted Brower and we’re told that they failed because there was too much water pressure (50 lbs.) We installed 8 lb. Pressure reducers at each line before repairing (with parts that cost over $200, and a two week wait). Now, 4 months later like clockwork, all of our units have failed again at the exact same point. The problem is clearly the plastic hardware failure. Unfortunately some pencil pusher at Brower company decided that they could save a couple of dollars, and as a result have turned what once was a reliable product into a piece of junk. We will not be repairing these units again. Do yourself a favor and buy another brand that will not leave your animals without water (they turn of when they break) and doesn’t have to be repaired every 4 months.

Automatic water
Perfect for watering horses. I have four more just like them. Some. are still working after 8 years. Parts are easy to get for easy maintenance.

Faulty product
We have had automatic watered/heated items in our horse barns for 30-some years. My husband was highly disappointed in the quality. The plastic pieces were too fragile and questionable upon arrival. After hours of time spent on the installation, the float stuck, and water was spilling in both stalls, causing a major clean-up project in the barn. After making several attempts to balance the float apparatus, it finally seems to be working. However, we don’t trust it! If we are going to be out of town for any length of time, we turn everything off, and provide the horses with hand-filled water buckets. This totally defeats the purpose of the automatic water system. We would not buy another one of these and are having to start looking all over again! Don’t buy this make/model. It’s too much trouble and certainly not anything you can rely on.
