(000400) CS-X3 Squash Scent Air Freshener

Classic scent of the 2000's and an absolute staple of Japanese car culture. Like others have said, this doesn't smell like a squash or gourd. The scent is themed after Ramune which is a popular soda flavor in Japan (if you haven't tried that I highly suggest going to your local import goods store and buying a bottle) I would describe the smell as citrus mixed with juicy fruit gum with a sprinkling of new car smell. It's fantastic and appeals to men and women (I've had different female friends gush over it multiple times when they first get into my car for the first time) Many companies have tried to capture the scent of Eikosha's Air Spencer Squash scent but so far none have succeeded. There isn't another product out there that matches the aroma. I've tried them all in an effort to find a cheaper alternative. Liquid sprays, metal tins, and other gel based brands. None of them come close despite what ANYONE says. The holder for the refills is attractive and looks great mounted just about anywhere in a car, but I'd highly recommend putting it somewhere that doesn't get direct sunlight. If you put it on your dashboard or in a place that gets a lot of sunlight the smell can fade within a week. I opted to put mine under the glove box and with the fins opened half way on the air freshener I get about a month as advertised. At the time of writing this review you can get the refills for around $6.36 a piece when buying in a pack of ten from various sellers. It's a bit pricey compared to locally available brands and scents, but it's a price I'm willing to pay. My car doesn't feel like my car without it anymore. You'll be hooked on these after your first purchase.

I recently purchased the Air Spencer (000400 CS-X3 Squash Scent Air Freshener), and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. Who doesn't love juicy fruit gum? Sweeter and less chemical smell compared to the can types. Longevity isn't great, a smelly tree will outlive these hands down, but you can also cut up the insert for a few days extra. For months these will have a lingering scent, just not powerful enough to scentify your car. They smell great though, and I usually throw the old ones under the seat in the floor vent and get a couple weeks more until they give up. The dispenser is aesthetics only, you can absolutely use the refills only. They are sized to be placed somewhere in view and not be in the way, and match well with 80s-00s styling. Blended in well with the 510 interior just as it does the Tacoma. For a more permanent install, use some 3M tape... just know if you leave it the sun, after a year or so they kind of get loose and tend to open up from time to time. They are priced to be replaced and these are bespoke items so you'll be in the market to buy more most likely. Squash is the best scent.

Been using this product for over 18 years. My go-to scent, refreshing, strong, long lasting. Unique scent always gets compliments.

Before purchasing this product I was searching across the stores for a real good product for my new Mercedes. Nope my car doesn't stink as it's new, but ordered this expecting a pleasant aroma while in the SUV. I really didn't wanted the often used AirWicks and Trees so thought of giving this a try after reading the reviews. A wonderful product. Pros: 1. Neat looking container. 2. A wonderful fragrance. Pleasant and not unbearable. Smooth. 3. I opened the cartridge inside my house to fix it in it's container box. I was immediately able to enjoy it's fragrance across the room. The fragrance was still present inside the room for almost 10 to 15 minutes after fixing the box in my SUV. 4. I am using Squash. I thought of a veggie (Squash) and once thought of trying Crystal or Lime as this is my first CS-X3. But after reading reviews for Crystal and Lime, people said Squash is better. It doesn't smell like Veggie but a bit of Bubblegum. But it's nice and pleasant. Cons: Will update if any after using this product for couple of months. I read couple of reviews that it doesn't smell right out of the box or it has no fragrance at all. That ain't true as I was able to smell the fragrance right away after cutting the plastic bag of the fragrance cartridge. Rather I have hardly kept the cartridge vent open and it still mixes wonderfully with the air inside the car. FYI, am not fond of the Bubblegum flavor either, but this one is pretty decent and bearable. I will be trying Crystal next and then Lime. Way better than AirWick, Trees and Refresh brands. I was skeptical enough before purchasing this product but it paid off. Suggestion to the manufacturer: Could have given small samples of other fragrances within the original box to maximize your business and letting customers make a better choice. Updated July 29th 2011: Yes, I have lost the fragrance totally. Till this date I rated this product 4 stars but I am taking out a star from it now. It last for hardly a month and the cartridge valve wasn't opened much. Though I am going to order Citrus and test its lasting power. Will update it later. Cheers...
