Great taste and great value
I LOVE matcha and have tried a few different ones from Amazon, but this one is by far my favorite. I take roughly 1 tsp (I just eyeball it honestly) and mix it with water, then add ice and almond/soy/oat milk, and stir it some more. I wish I was fancy enough to have one of those matcha whisks but I haven't made the plunge yet, though I drink it every single day so I should. Anyway the point is if you just stir the hell out of this stuff with a regular old spoon, it's fine. It's not perfect but the matcha mostly dissolves and isn't an issue. Also, the taste is AWESOME - not too grassy or bitter or anything like that, just a really nice, smooth, green matcha-y taste. Honestly, I've been to several matcha places all over NYC - like tea rooms that use fancy, ceremonial grade matcha that they sell for like $80 for a miniscule tin of matcha - and I honestly like this stuff better. I'm sure there are fancier versions of matcha out there that you could buy, but I don't feel the need to explore those because this stuff tastes great and gets the job done, and for the number of servings you get out of a tin, it's actually a very reasonable price. I have one 2.8 oz tin at work, and it's lasted me three months (and I drink a cup every morning). That's roughly 20 days x 3 months = 60 days/$34 = 58 cents per serving. BOOM. I also bet it would be delicious hot - I just prefer it iced/it's easier to throw together than heating up milk and stuff in the office kitchen. DEFINITELY recommend.

(Organic) Second Harvest vs First Harvest vs Bigelow Bagged Green Tea
I will compare my experiences with Organic First Harvest DoMatcha, Organic Second Harvest DoMatcha, and "Organic" Bigelow bagged green tea. I have not tried the non-organic DoMatcha teas, nor do I plan to. I'm currently on my 5th tin of Second Harvest DoMatcha and recently finished my second tin of First Harvest DoMatcha. They are both incredibly delicious, creamy, and richly flavored, but there are differences. First Harvest DoMatcha is slightly creamier, slightly less bitter, contains more delicate and diverse flavors, and is absolutely pampering; however, it requires twice the amount of whisking to completely mix it into the water. I never knew anything could make me feel as pampered as when I am eating an organic dark chocolate, but First Harvest does it for me. I buy a tin of First Harvest for special occasions, holidays, or when I just feel that need for extra pampering. I know that something this good for you shouldn't be described as if it were a sinful indulgence, but to me, it certainly feels that way. Second Harvest is excellent for everyday use; it's a part of my morning routine. It's healthy, it's delicious, and it gives you a little caffeine boost. The way I prepare either First or Second Harvest DoMatcha is to mix 1 tsp to 1 tbsp into what is probably about a cup of water but I'm not certain, as I haven't measured the water. What I can say is this: I like it thick, creamy and frothy. I do not add anything to it. When I run out of DoMatcha and am waiting a few days for my next order to come in, I go to my backup: organic bagged green tea (no longer Bigalow brand). I used to drink Bigalow Organic Green Tea daily, but it cannot compare to matcha in any way; it is a far inferior product in terms of flavor, texture, and health benefits. In general, bagged green teas will not be in any way creamy/frothy and will have a lot more bitterness. For green tea lovers, matcha is a huge upgrade that I recommend to anyone. Regarding Bigelow bagged green tea, I eventually learned that the tea actually comes from China, not from their plantation in SC, which greatly angered me because I felt like I had been deceived all that time. The company makes a big deal out of their SC plantation but doesn't sell the teas online or in any stores I have access to. I also learned that anything coming out of China, even if labeled organic, is not healthy due to unavoidable exposure to toxins and pollutants that run rampant in the air, soil, and water.

Brilliant green! Worthy substitute for more expensive 1 ounce tins...
I felt like I was taking a leap of faith when I decided to try this. I have been a long time buyer of Eden Organic Matcha, but it was just getting too expensive for me to drink daily using 1/2 to 1 tsp per day. The first replacement I tried out was a "culinary" grade tea by SerendipiTea. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but figured I would at least be able to put it into smoothies if I totally hated it. I totally hated it. The Eden Matcha was a beautiful, vibrant green while the SerendipiTea was almost brown. Blech. And the flavor....I couldn't even handle it in a smoothie, it tasted like dirt and made everything I put the tea in taste like dirt. I was a little gun shy after that because Matcha is just so expensive and very difficult to find organically grown. The DoMatcha seemed to be my only other option. I am glad I finally took the plunge because it is a good substitute for the Eden brand. I get almost three ounces for a similar price as 1 ounce of Eden. I was happy as soon as I opened the bag inside the tin....the powder is a gorgeous emerald color. It doesn't taste quite as good as the Eden (a bit more pungent and grassy), but it is good and I feel the same sense of vitality and cleansing I got from the Eden tea. I am a happy camper. NOTE: I do not prepare and drink this Matcha in a traditional way. While I love green tea (and tea of all kinds), I drink Matcha specifically for the health benefits of consuming the whole tea leaf and don't muck around with water of a specific temperature and bamboo whisks. I add 1/2 tsp to cool water first thing in the morning in a shaker cup and shake vigorously. To me it is a lovely, frothy way to start my day. I also put a bit in my smoothies.

Excellent Quality Organic Japanese Matcha
I started drinking matcha after a stay in Yokohama, and have tried several brands and preparations since then. There are many people who know much more about tea than I do, but I can tell you why I like the DoMatcha Second Harvest Matcha. This tea is a (reasonably) affordable matcha that is very high in antioxidants; since I started drinking it for the health benefits that was an important feature for me. The second reason I am a fan of this particular matcha is that it is not as grassy tasting as some; although it does have a slightly astringent aftertaste when made with fairly high concentrations of tea, it is smooth and has a wonderfully creamy consistency. Depending on your preparation technique the tea does tend to fall out of solution quicker than some other teas I have tried, but not annoyingly so. I appreciate the care with which it is packaged (there is a metallic inner bag that's vacuum sealed inside the tin) which ensures freshness to the consumer. Although far from cheap, I like the DoMatcha Second Harvest and keep coming back to it: the combination of taste, health benefits, and obvious care taken during production and packaging make it a good value for the price.

Not as tasty as the Ceremonial but you can't beat the price!
I've been drinking the 1oz DoMatcha 1st harvest ceremonial grade for 14 months now. I wanted to try something that was similar in taste but with more bang for my buck. Enter the 2.82oz DoMatcha 2nd harvest. This tea is a great price at almost 3 times more matcha for about the same price as the 1st harvest. The product comes in a sealed tin containing a food-grade bag. You definitely want to put this container in the refrigerator after it has been opened to delay the onset of bitterness as the tea ages. The matcha isn't quite the vibrant/electric green found in a ceremonial grade batch. It is also nowhere near the army green color of an culinary grade matcha. I would say that this batch is about upper mid-range quality for what you can get in the U.S. The taste isn't bitter or astringent but it does lack vegetal depth, creaminess, and sweetness found in higher grades of matcha. If taste and experience are secondary to the health benefits of matcha, you'll love this tea.

Pure organic product
Wonderful deep forest green color, smooth fresh taste, healing properties . Great per se or with milk as a matcha latte; a little honey sweetens the experience. Gratitude for the. Artful growing, harvesting, and processing of this wonderful drink

Impressed with the taste and quality
This is an excellent matcha. I have tried several different mathcas of varying quality and from different suppliers, and this is one of the best. Everything about this matcha surprised me. From the package inside the tin keeping it fresh (expected it loose inside the tin), to the super bright neon green color and complicated, somewhat sweet taste. There is really no drink I enjoy more than a good matcha and this satisfies completely. Aside from all the apparent tastes there are two sensations that lurk right below the surface but permeate the entire experience - freshness and pleasantness. They aren't tastes but a kind of experience that can't be seperated from the taste of the tea. Is this what is called the 5th taste, umami? I don't know but nothing else is as pleasant as drinking a fresh cup of this matcha. I know there are other better matchas out there but is anything more expensive than $10/oz really worth it? I mean, will you actually be able to tell the difference between this and a ceremonial grade matcha selling for $30/oz? For me this is already too expensive to drink every day, but not so expensive that I can't enjoy a great cup occasionally. But if you already have a $3-5/day coffee/latte/frappe/stale teabag habit, then replacing it with this will be well worth it.

Love it!
I did a lot of reading on the reviews for various matcha products and I am pleased that I chose this one. Some reviews had said it has a bitter taste, I just add about a teaspoon or so of sugar and it tastes great. Previously, I drank coffee on a daily basis but for those who also drink coffee regularly they might be able to relate to my situation. My skin breaks out and coffee contains ingredients that can take a toll on skin after prolonged use. Also, I feel like I need my coffee to function and if I don't have it I just don't feel energized at all. And then the coffee jitters when you drink too much! Awhile back I quit drinking coffee for about six months and I felt amazing. However, as a full time student and working as well I need caffeine to keep me going! So back to this product...it is high in antioxidants and I can really tell a difference in my energy level overall. I only drink one cup with 1/2 teaspoon of the powder a day and I feel great and energized all day (with coffee I would need to refuel with a second cup later). I highly recommend this product. It seems pricy, but it is well worth it and it seems that it will last me about a month since I only use 1/2 teaspoon a day. So about a dollar a day doesn't seem so bad when I think about all my trips to Starbucks and peets!
