They are encapsulated by tiny bubbles made from fat cells, and they protect the vitamin C from the digestive tract and go directly into the bloodstream and are highly bioavailabile meaning that the body more readily absorbs the nutrients. The capsules look plastic, but they're not. There's no taste, and they're easy to swallow. Look at my photo, and you'll see what size they are. I usually get an upset stomach when taking Vitamin C, but since these are encapsulated, I've not had any GI upset.
