I am so impressed with Shirley MacLaine's book, Going Within.As a new devotee of the String Theory and Quantum Mechanics it is startling how early on Ms. MacLaine embraced the science that is bridging into the metaphysical world. After the debacle of the Spiritualism movement of the late 1800s, its not surprising that the two sectors avoided each other in the same manner as parties to a one-night stand!'Going Within' has been like reading a friendly-encyclopedia of ALL of the elements that would guide one into a spiritually based, and more serene, life. If being curious and shedding blinders appeals to you - you're about to have a delightful experience.MacLaine explains and contrasts western and eastern religions in a non-judgmental manner; includes scientists and religious leaders in her discussions; provides step-by-step guides on meditating, astral projection, psychic surgery, dream-interpretation - and SO much more. Einstein, Bohm, and Hawking's theories are explored; as are the teachings of eastern religious leaders.Love her -- or Leave her --- but, personally, I'll take the former. "Going Within" with its generous helpings of the methods of attaining a calm, sane life, is exactly what I was looking for, and thanks to a Higher Power, received.Recommended for those who want to take a journey into TRYING to take an inclusive, thoughtful approach to THIS lifetime. ;D

I am so glad I finally read this book! After 10 years of personal work and study in meditation/intuition and following the work of many channelers and psychic readers, I am still amazed at the high caliber material offered here, and that I'm still learning from it. These topics can be amazing to experience on your own but hard to express, and Shirley Maclaine does a masterful job of articulating the details in a relatable way. She's fearless about bringing up the most fringe, esoteric, highest conciousness topics that used to be kept hidden in the Great Mystery Schools.Not sure that a beginner would understand much of this book, but someone already well-versed in Past Lives, Astral Travel, and Light Work will love it.

If you have read other books by Shirley MacLaine you can rest assured that you will get just what you are expecting and a bit more with this one. I love how candid and human she is. Her writing flows easily and the stories are fun to read but they are not without depth. I also liked that at the end of the book has the first chapter from her next one. That one is less about her spiritual life and more about her career (by the way). I like her so much I find myself wishing our paths would cross as I am sure if we did, she would somehow notice too.

Lots of helpful information on meditation and how to do it, breathing for meditation, meditation on the chakras and so much more. Unlike her other books, where you can pick them up and read them straight through from cover to cover, Going Within requires one to read more slowly and contemplate what you are reading. I highly recommend this book. I just wish the audio tapes were still available. There was some good guided meditation on them.

The insights are the same I've had for years but it is comforting to know others have the same insights on life.Everyone has they're own crosses to bare and no one person should have to bare the cross of those who don't raise they're minds, hearts and souls up to a Higher being than ourselves.Solving problems and dealing with the pressures of everyday life comes from within every soul.Very interesting reading.

For a celebrity to expose her honest spiritual experiences for all to comment is truly a courageous gift to humanity. Congrats of the highest order. Thank You.

I treasure this entire book!!! It full of fascinating information that I truly value having had the opportunity to read about! And. The clear manner in which all the material was presented made it an easy " GREAT read!"!! Loved it!!!

Placing Alex Orbito and Steve Hawkins side by side is magic! If only both of them could have met. Nice work Shirlet Maclaine! A tad to short...

Best book I've read. It deals with Shirley's experiences on chakras, meditation, crystals, colortherapy, sound therapy, it's a really, really good book. She talked in the 80s about everything we are talking about now!

A mind expanding and mind blowing book, gives lots of food for thought, although difficult to take in on one reading you can keep going back to it finding more stuff that didn't go in on the first read.

Interesting read if on a spiritual wave length.
