Perfect part but a little difficult to install
This part is obviously the perfect replacement for the original thermostat. The item photos aren't very accurate, but mine arrived as a cast aluminum part just like the original. I installed it in my 2003 Trailblazer EXT 4.2L in about an hour. The installation was straightforward and only took a few tools. Tools: 3/8" Breaker Bar 3/8" Ratchet 3/8" Extension (6") 3/8" Swivel Joint 8mm Socket 10mm Socket 15mm Socket Channel Lock Pliers 1 - Disconnect the battery (8mm bolt). 2 - Remove the serpentine belt from the alternator pulley (3/8" breaker bar is used in the tensioner) 2 - Remove the AC line bracket (10mm bolt) from the LF engine lift bracket. 3 - Remove the LF engine lift bracket (3x 15mm bolts). 4 - Fully loosen the lower alternator mounting bolt (15mm). You will not be able to remove the bolt yet. 5 - Remove the upper alternator bolts (2x 15mm) 6 - Tip the alternator forward to access the wiring connections. 7 - Unplug the plastic plug-in connector (no tools) 8 - Pull back the protective boot and remove the battery wire lug (10mm) 9 - Turn the alternator so the pulley is facing up and the brackets are facing left and right. This will allow it to fit between the engine and the radiator fan during removal. Now you will have good visibility and tool access to the thermostat/water neck. The hose clamp can be compressed with slip-joint pliers and the water neck is attached to the block with 2x 10mm bolts. Not much coolant comes out when the hose is removed, but LOTS will come out when the neck is removed. After replacement, the parts can be installed in the reverse order that they were removed. Remember to insert the bottom alternator bolt in the alternator before putting it back in place.

GM Envoy-Trailblazer thermostat replacement- OEM - Excellent price
OEM part, not at OEM dealer price. Fixed slow warm up on Envoy with the 4.2 L6. Pain in butt to change- look it up on net for complete instructions- there is a lot in the way of changing this part..which is the very reason they made the thermostat part of the neck, as there would be no way to hold a thermostat and then place the housing over it. This fit perfect, it was OEM part. Fixed slow heat issue, a common problem on these motors. Use a scanner and watch your temperature. I also recommend changing the temp sender unit, which is also a pain to change on this motor. After replacing this thermostat and neck assembly, you can claim victory and feel like you can rock the world! On the 06, it was located on the bottom of the driver side of the engine, behind the alternator, which in most cases, will need to be removed to install this. I was able to go thru the left front wheel well, but I have a large assortment of tools and a vehicle lift which made this job tolerable. Do yourself a favor-use OEM for this job, you will be hating life if you have to do this twice!

Do the job once
I opted to buy genuine GM did not want to do the job twice it's been installed on the vehicle for approximately 3 weeks everything's working fine

Perfect fit OEM replacement thermostat
Perfect OEM replacement thermostat for my 04 Trailblazer LS 4.2L SUV. I had already replaced my original factory installed thermostat around 130,000 miles using another brand, BUT either that unit was defective or failed after install within months, so after ruling out other potential causes of P0128 code (engine temp not reaching operating temp soon enough) the only thing left was the thermostat, AGAIN! If you are a DIY guy like myself, replacing the thermostat on these trucks ISN'T the easiest job, which is why I waited until the end to re-do the thermostat, AGAIN! Installed this OEM ACDelco unit, car reaches normal operating temp, electric fan turns on at 190 degrees & no longer get the P0128 fault code. Only time will tell, but based upon the factory assembly line installed one lasting 130K, this thermostat will outlive me! Lol.

O.E. part.
Was an exact factory part for a 2007 chevy trailblazer with straight 6. It's kind of a pain to install but I can't fault the seller for that. I have seen many you tube videos about replacing this and unfortunately for the most part the videos are making it way more difficult and you take apart way more than what is necessary. In a nut shell jack up the vehicle put on a jack stand and remove the l/f wheel. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Take off serp belt but leave it on all pulleys except for the alternator (not necessary to completely remove) Remove front lifting bracket from top of alternator area. Remove alternator bolts but they can remain loose in alternator holes. Tilt alternator forward slightly and hold with a bungee cord or piece of wood or whatever. Disconnect spring clamp on the thermostat housing catching coolant in a clean drain pan for reuse. Now reach through the wheel well with a long extension and a universal wobbly and socket, remove the top and bottom fastener and take out the housing. Install in reverse order and don't forget to fill the coolant and get all the air out. It's a but tedious and takes some time but it's not difficult. It's been installed for about 5000 miles now with zero problems & the price is very the best that I found.
