Chinese Watercolor Journeys With Lian Quan Zhen

The book is beautiful as I expected because I love Lian's watercolor paintings. The book has beautifully written story of Lian's fascinating journey from a small village in China to a world renown watercolor artists living in the USA. The book itself was in brand new condition even though it was sold as a "used" book.

This a an awesome reference book. It is filled with amazing and inspiring images. This is not a 'how to' book. There is some technical information but buy it primarily for inspiration on the possibilities of watercolor. The works are documented indicating support ( 'sumi' or watercolor paper ) and size. Beautiful photos offer insight into the creation of the pieces. I have returned to school to pursue a degree in fine art. So glad I purchased this book.

I was thrilled to find this book on Amazon because I attended a demo he gave in December and was enchanted. I didn't purchase his book before lunch, and when I returned all the books had been purchased. I have shared the book with classmates as well as my art instructor; they were delighted since nobody in the class had one.

Excellent illustrations of paintings. There are some explanatory notes but I was hoping for more tuition in the picture notes, hence only 4 stars, but that said it is a really beautiful book.

Beautiful oversized coffee table book from a great, internationally known artist ... I have attended 5 workshops with Lian and I learn something each time. I have all of his books, and they are all wonderful. This book is a great addition to my collection. If you get an opportunity to attend one of his workshops, don't miss it. You will get great Instruction, a lot of individual help, and have lots of fun.

If you love watercolor, you must have this book. It takes you through a journey through landscape, animals, fish, people, places, and flowers. The author is gifted and well accomplished in both Chinese and western watercolor. Each and every painting in this book is beautiful and exciting. This is an amazing collection.

This is a beautiful book by a wonderful artist. He discusses his techniques for his work which is very interesting. There are so many beautiful watercolors in the book. I am very pleased with my purchase..

Missing pages, otherwise in very good shape with no writing or notes, dust cover intact. However, it has pages and partial pages that were roughly cut out of the book with scissors. Missing pages include 57-58 (one sheet back & front); pages 63-64; the lower right fourth of page 74; entire page 81-82; lower right fourth of page 85; entire pages85-86. It appears particular paintings or references were cut out by the prior owner. As this is also an instructional book, missing paintings and illustrations is disappointing and distracting.
