It’s a great book, especially since it has the original text and English translations

Beautiful hardcover book! The Italian does follow side to side with the English. I bought this book as a gift for my daughter. I'm sure she is going to love it!

One of several translations that I have read. Excellent line by line, word for word rendition that is side by side with italian. No notes or commentary. All three canticles in one hard cover volume. Longfellow and his "Dante's Club" spent years on the translation, beginning in 1864.

There are written accents in Italian that should appear over the particular vowel. Somehow, the editors of this edition have chosen not to respect this protocol. Annoying, but not devastating.

My wife wanted this book because she says it’s the best translation.

excellent quality of workmanship and the only bilingual copy i've seen in ages. longfellow did a pretty decent job of fitting english syntax onto classical italian. granted, not all that applicable to contemporary italian, but if you want the thrill of the original and a sense of how italian has evolved, wonderful starting point.

Side by side translation..worth the money!

Exactly what I expected with only one annoying surprise: additional customs duty. My mistake - I was not aware of it. Maybe some visible warning in price or payment section would be of added value.

This is a very nice book. What is missing is that it has no introduction or commentary. The printing and workmanship are quite ok.
