I have three Makita Circular/Skill saws now. My neighbor was throwing his in the garbage because it stopped working.., but instead gave it to me. i dont know what he used it for, but it was a low mileage saw. One of the brushes was lodged by debris and difficult to remove. Once I got it out, the new one slide right in. Runs like new!

The burning smell was the brushes disintegrating and falling apart, it didnt withstand the heat for 15 seconds before doing that.almost half of each brush is missing and you can see a bunch of what looks like impurities that got hot and caused it to start failing..no doubt it would have been a catastrophe if i would have kept running the engine..
