Burlesque and the Art of the Teese/Fetish and the Art of the Teese: Dita Von Teese on Striptease, Glamour, and Seduction

This book is beautifully written and it's a two sider! One side is a look into the beautiful burlesque relm and the other is a peek into the fetish world. Both sides reference one another and it's nice to see how the two "personalities" intertwine. I bought the book because I have an admiration for Dita and I've always loved the pin up and burlesque style and I was overjoyed when I opened up the pages! The book is deliciously narrated by Dita with a peek inside history, costumes, corsets, stories of the good old days, her attachment to the style since she was a girl and many more gems. The photography is well done and she gives tips and styles to become one with the cheesecake burlesque style and a fetish style. The fetish side of the book turned out to be my favorite of the two. Dita made it so simple to see how fetish has grown into a chamelion of sorts and it's not all about whips and gags, it can be about sky high heels and rubber outfits! There is more a desire to be the damsel in destress and not all punnishment (although it is encouraged as long as it doesn't harm you!) I reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in the culture and lifestyle that Dita is keeping alive! Drink it up!

As a fan of anything and everything Dita, I had to get this book, and I'm so glad I did! Strongly recommend it. It's not just for Dita fans, and not just for people interested in Burlesque. She discusses the history of Burlesque and Fetishes, she shares personal stories and influences. It's filled with some of the most beautiful and stunning photographs imaginable. It's a picturesque trip through history as illustrated, and written, by Dita. She also has great tips on etiquette and behaviour, she discusses all sorts of fashion. It's not a biography about Dita Von Teese. It's an expansive and thorough book, artistically displayed. For those who are curious, there is nothing "offensive" in her book, not in the least. The entire book is quite tastefully presented, articulately written, beautifully photographed. It's a large book, and it has a permanent place on my bookshelf. I have read it several times cover to cover, and will continue to. In fact I still pull it out. She expresses grace and gratitude.

We luck out to get two books 1) Burlesque and the art of the Teese 2) Fetish and the art of the Teese The titles are self explanatory, Dita as the narrative is entertaining, the photography is beautiful, and the knowledge she gleams on the topics of fetish and burlesque are good for anyone wanting to be introduced into the modern history of burlesque. It’s worth the read.

And very simply the best book of its kind -- beautifully produced, with stunning visuals by great photographers, superb art direction and, of course, Dita. She re-invents glamour. It takes a remarkable model and some great stylists to hold your attention through a one-woman "show" like this, but she does it, and looks great throughout, over the course of an unbelieveable variety of settings, wardrobe, lack of wardrobe, styles and situations. Nothing lewd at all, in fact there is no nudity in this book. It's the "teese" that keeps you interested. You will not go wrong, a very, very well done book that you will be happy to own.

For those of us into this . This book was surprisingly great. My Mom went to modeling school so I had some knowledge of these old actress and stuff. Most times you get a book like this it's a few well taken pics and articles any one can find on the web. Not here ! For a person who did not write journalism for a living. Dita could teach a number of them about research and writing ! The writing fit the book . It was well written for anyone to enjoyable read and her work ethic also shows in the photos . Those of us who watched Creature Feature will love the 50s page movie type photo. Only wish for a few more ...see it an you will think old movies like Them, Blob ,etc .

A salute to burlesque and a wink at the fetish world. Totally sexy and delicious with lots of history - a celebration of all things sparkly, feathered and rubberized. Not too kinky, just a glorious peek into two very intriguing worlds via Dita's charming guidance and her very hot, but very tasteful photos.

This lady is hot, what else is there to say? Beautiful book, a great item in any collection.

This is a great book! This is a book of larger size, full of prety pictures of Dita. The text in it is quite mixed, a bit of fashion histroy, a bit of tips on burlesque, a bit of make up construcions and a bit of personal stories. It gives a wide spectrum of Dita`s interests. It`s great as a start, gives a knowledge base you can go out of and start your personal research, but don`t expect a book that describes burlesque from the tip of it`s toe to head.

I have been a big fan of Dita for many years and I am so happy to find this book on Amazon. Beautiful pictures. I have another couple of books from her, however, this one is my favourite.
