A Duke’s Guide to Seducing His Bride (Chase Family Series Book 4) - Kindle edition by Royal, Lauren. Romance Kindle eBooks @ desertcart.com. Review: Interesting and Intriguing - Lady Kendra Chase's brothers insist it is high time she wed. Although they have presented her with many wealthy, titled suitors, no man has caught her fancy. Her coach is held up by a dashing, mysterious rogue. She and the scoundrel are caught in a compromising embrace, and her overprotective brothers demand they marry. Kendra cannot believe they are desperate enough to match her with a highwayman. Scottish-born Patrick "Trick" Caldwell is the Duke of Amberley. He is also the notorious Black Highwayman, an identity he assumed in order to avenge past wrongs and serve his king. His already complicated life becomes positively convoluted when he finds himself compelled to marry a red-headed temptress he only just met. Caught in a web of secrets and half truths, Trick may be forced to choose between his duty to the Crown and the woman who is destined to steal his heart. -- Kendra is a spoiled delight. She is smart and fun. Her brothers are protective and sweet with her. Trick is kind, smart, and trustworthy. Kendra's family is loving and entertaining. The mysteries and twists are interesting. I enjoyed this story. Review: I Adore These Books ! - I adore these books! This one is such a lovely story in such a lovely series! It has wonderful characters in an excellent plot. I am confused by the three brothers each having a title of their own. One a Marquess, one an Earl, and one a Viscount. I read Violet, Lily, and Rose ages ago, and also Amethyst. I loved them all and didn't have that concern at that time. Since then I have come to understand that only the eldest son gets any titles, and he gets all of them. Maybe there was something special going on during the reign of Charles II that all castles and manors had a royalist lord in charge. I don't know. I couldn't find any information on that. I think it would have been a good idea, but I find no evidence of that happening. I have come to prefer my historical romances to be historical, so I certainly question this apparent divergence from the norm. As are all of Lauren Royal's books, this one is well and intelligently written. There was one typo, but not any word errors such as extra, missing, or wrong words, as is so popular in this genre today. Well plotted and turned storyline and charming romance is a special treat. Highly recommend!

Exciting, fun, romantic
I chose this book because I love historical romance and this was definitely not a disappointment! Lauren Royal is a great writer who (in my opinion) doesn't complicate things with so many different hurdles or problems to solve. I enjoyed the family dynamic, the chemistry, and the common theme of love. I also enjoy the adventure, how I can picture the scenery to the point where I can almost hear and smell everything as though I'm there. What a writer! I must say, I also like the history at the end of every novel. Some of the places or things I wonder about while I'm reading the story are answered by her at the end. How thoughtful!

Exceeded all expectations!
Lauren Royal has surpassed all of my expectations with Amber. Her books are always entertaining but I think this is the best so far, and that is saying a lot. Her books are all on the top of my list, but this is now number one. Fantastic, believable characters, riveting plot, onderful bad guys, great history; enjoyment in every word! Iighly recommend to anyone who enjoys historical romances.

Historical romance full of history
MY RATING SYSTEM 5 stars--WOW 4 stars--would read again 3 stars--was good, won't read again 2 stars--read it, but didn't enjoy it 1 star--didn't finish, it was so awful Do I need to read books before this one: no Cliffhanger: no SUMMARY Kendra, with her brothers, is on her way to meet a possible suitor when the carriage is stopped by a highwayman. She's immediately attracted to him. He robs only the Puritan. Kendra starts to feel pity, then remembers that the Puritans and their political allies are responsible for her parents's deaths. Kendra, not liking most men with titles, deliberately ruins her chances with the suitor by telling him she wants to open orphanages. The next day she goes riding, ends up helping the robber get his equipment into a cottage. He introduces himself as Trick Caldwell. Her brothers catch them almost kissing. “That will have to stop, you know.” “What the hell are you talking about?” “The highway robbery. You don’t need the money, and Kendra doesn’t need to see her husband strung up at Tyburn.” “Her husband?” They insist he marry her. Trick can't reveal he's on a secret mission for King Charles II. Kendra keeps expecting the ceremony to be revealed as one of her brothers's pranks. Trick likes knowing she's marrying him, not his money or his title. After a disastrous wedding night at the cottage, Trick takes Kendra to a mansion. Do you work here? Why, yes, I do. He introduces her to the servants as the Duchess of Amberley. EVALUATION A historical novel teaching us a little history! I learned more about Britain's Civil War, with Royalist views as opposed to Parliament views, and how English Royalists suffered. I also saw where some of our Bill of Rights came from. The romance starts with instant attraction and builds toward love. Well done, though I'm not attached to the characters. I appreciate the theme that trust in marriage is essential, both in giving it and being worthy of it. RECOMMENDATION This is a good read for adults, definitely for those who like some history! FAVORITE QUOTES She stared at a portrait of some stern, long-dead ancestor. Another controlling man, no doubt. POSSIBLE TRIGGERS (SPOILERS) Sex: multiple scenes, one handcuff scene Language: 0 F words, 38 Lord's name in vain, 0 S words Violence: armed robbery, lying, poisoning, fist fight, assault, drowning, theft, adultery CRITIQUE (SPOILERS) Was counterfeiting resolved?

Exceptional
Strong main characters. Well written to keep you entertained throughout the story. Never a lull in between scenes. Well places twists and turns which keep you on edge for a while. This will be a welcomed 2nd read at a later date.

Secrets can destroy a relationship if not for trust!
Kendra and Trick were forced to marry but both of them weren't unhappy with the arrangement. That didn't mean their marriage was a smooth one. Can they find their selves to each other or torn apart by secrets and doubts? You will have to read their story to find out! I enjoyed their journey to discover each other. This is my honest review.

Touching and quite believable story of Kendra and Trick stands for me neverless a bit far from the perfect first romance, „Amethyst“. If you’ve read the first book, it looks doubtful what independent and intelligent Kendra could be forced to step into such important (given the time) enterprise as marriage with the virtual stranger. Though the forced marriages were enough common these days. Other thing that unpleasantly striked me in this novell is the language. Even for the lame public the author’s language should be in tune with the period, the story refers to. The world „logistics“ (in the talk about deliverying the treasure) could not appear in the everyday speech before the middle of 20-th century.

Le genre de livre qui était engageante et attachant . Très racé dans certaines parties mais pas ennuyeux, serait-il recommander à un ami

The book was a little long at times. Loved the main characters. For the time period it is unusual to see a woman with so much spunk. The Duke was very likable. Overall this was a good read.
