These are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Way more carbon than most filters. This filter element weighs almost as much as some entire air filter units because of the amount of activated carbon it contains. At least they last for 5 years, so the cost over time is very competitive with the 6 month $60 replacements found in many units.

Expensive but worth it. Very powerful. Sucks nasty stuff out of the air in minutes! Lasts for years if you don’t use it continually.

So amazing, in fact, that after more than 18 years, I purchased two of their full sized machines. This purifier removes cat box smells, kitchen smoke, mold, and more. The bedroom and allergy machines have actually reduced my need for almost allergy meds. And the whole room, in the case of the Healthmate junior, or the whole house, in conjuction with the larger machines. I love that the filters only need replacement every 5 years. I cannot recommend these air purifiers from AustinAir.

Worked for 4 months and then began emitting a disgusting smell.

It lasted me 3 years, but for a whole year I wasnt using it. So lasted me 2 years, really. Out of the 2 years, I was using it pretty much constantly for nearly 1.5 yrs, and on and off for about 6 months. Now it's emitting a smell, which means time for a filter change. It's still getting chemicals out of the room though. Their customer service is also not very good, a pain to deal with really. Way too overpriced. I would look into another company, I don't know if there are any other ones selling air purifiers with carbon filter .
