Would the electrode holder holes fit a 1/4" shaft? I'd be using this for a different application. Thanks

The ESAB 200 amp can accommodate rods size : 1.6 mm - 4mm ( 1/16 in. - 0.16 Inch ) so unfortunately it doesn't fit to 1/4"

will it take 4/0 welding cable?

There would be no reason to use a 4/0 whip with this Electrode Holder. 4/0 welding cable is needed for much higher amperage than one could use with a 200 Amp Electrode Holder. Besides, who wants such big cable dragging down the holder? 2/0, or even 1/0, would get tiresome and heavy. For an electrode holder rated for 200 amps, the last 6 or 8 feet, (the holder's "whip"), is much better suited to #1 gauge.
