Mattel Barbie Swim and Race Pups Playset

I got this for my daughter when she turned 6 and she played with it outside for about 2 1/2 hours straight, which almost never happens with any toy. I had to show her how to wind up the dogs a few times and set them off. For the first few times, I couldn't get the dogs to race at the same time, then figured out the issue and after that it was easy and could show my daughter. Then my 3 year old took everything outside and played with it for a few hours while her older sister was at school. She didn't wind the dogs of course, but she played with everything else. I do recommend it be played outside or in a water safe area, because kids being kids, they won't just race the dogs, they will make Barbie swim and jump in the water. The thing I don't like is that Barbie arm's are permanently fixed in a certain position that is really odd. Not the best for changing her clothes. They move up and down, but are bent. And her feet are flat for flip flops, so you can't use other shoes on her. I was pleasantly surprised overall with the set though.

This toy good quality and my daughter really liked it. She loves puppies, so this gift was one of her favorites. The puppies do swim well. I wasn't expecting them to swim as well as they do. Overall this is a good purchase.

I bought this for my daughter and she absolutely loves it. The fact that the dogs actually swim is too cute and it's really easy to work. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a daughter between 5 and 10 years old.

My daughter wanted this for her birthday. They love to play with toys in the tub (and out) so I thought this would be a good addition. The product is a bit smaller than I expectf- the swimming pool is maybe 6 inches long. Of course she tore the box open so I don't know what of any instructions were included. They began playing with it immediately which I did not witness. However, when I went in to watch them it seemed a bit frustrating. It is all quite cheaply made (anymore, isn't everything??). The pups seem a bit fragile although none have broke yet to my knowledge. But it is a little tricky getting the mechanisms to work- you wind the tail like a traditional wind up toy. There seems to be a miniscule "catch" to hold the wind until you are ready. But there is no auto release to set both pups swimming at once. I am not sure if or how this toy could be played with by only one child. Finally, from my youngest child's whines- it seems that one pup always wins (which she of course never gets). Again I don't know how true that is, since I can't test the racing part myself (the diving board doesn't release the tail-catch- and I guess maybe my fingers are too big to have one hand release each tail without holding each pup in my hand; the wind goes to fast to let them release one after the other). Anyway, I don't actually think the swimming part works too well- everytime I set a pup loose it seems to mostly just sink. But they still play with the pups in the bath tub. The pool and doll have been relegated by the kids for other things.

I would not recommend this playset if your child wants to do more than just play with the Barbie. The dogs are difficult to wind up, difficult to set off and not well-balanced, so they do not 'swim' well. My grandchild and I were very frustrated with trying to get the dogs ready to race and then when we were able to get them wound up, it was virtually impossible to get them to 'release' at the same time.

100% is recommended. The product is excellent, the device is so useful that really looks like a tablet. With expansion memory can be used as a data logger, music and videos.

My niece loved it. I bought it upon her sweet insistence (and did it via amazon because, as most of the times, price was super-convenient). It took a few minutes for us (adults) to figure it out exactly how it works, how pieces need to be moved but, once we did, she instantly loved it and played with it for a long time. Perhaps I had the idea the pool would be a bit longer, but still OK.

Mes 2 filles jouent avec dans la baignoire quasiment tous les jours et s'amusent à faire des courses de chiots :-) Il n'est pas nécessaire d'y mettre des piles et ça marche parfaitement. Produit parfaitement adapté pour être utilisé avec de l'eau et dans l'eau (étanche) et ne se casse pas.

das beide Hunde ein Wettschwimmen veranstalten können, dazu muss man schon zu zweit sein. Die Hunde am Ohr zu drehen und schwimmen zu lassen funktioniert leider nicht immer. Am Anfan ist Übung erforderlich

This is a fun to play Barbie! Puppies are so cute especially when they swim to race! Can't beat the $10 price tag here! Great gift idea for girls!
