Tastes Exactly Like the Chili Pepper Itself - Not Vinegar!
This sauce was EXACTLY what I was hoping for - a sauce that tastes like the chili (Scorpion), not vinegar or a bunch of other ingredients. I had the chance to taste the Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia) this Fall at a chili contest in Europe. Wow, I loved that flavor! But nobody at the contest had it available, so I went home with a bottle of Trinidad Scorpion sauce instead. Like most sauces, the main flavor was vinegar (and in this case, sugar), but the Scorpion flavor was there and it was really good. Thus began my search for a higher quality Scorpion sauce, which led me to Rapture, that tastes EXACTLY like the pepper and not a bunch of other ingredients. (And it's hot enough to melt your face off on a snowy day, as well, which is awesome!) Since then, I tried the Torchbearer Zombie Apocalypse sauce as well, which is made from the Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia), and loved it as well. Like you probably, most sauces I've had over the years (pretty much nearly all) tend to have vinegar as their dominant flavor. That's the first thing you taste, and you "get through it" so that you can enjoy the pepper. But even so, it's rare to the point of nonexistent that you really even taste the chilli itself. Pretty much the only thing that differentiates most sauces from each other regardless of what chili they claim to be made from is the degree of burn. That, and all the flavors of the 'other' ingredients besides the chili, as in black pepper, or sugar, or cumin or whatever. It's to the point really that I think most people couldn't even say what chili a sauce is made from, as you don't really taste it anyway. Torchbearer sauces in my opinion are really different, in that of the three of their sauces I've now tried have the dominant flavor actually coming from the chili pepper itself! And not a bunch of other junk they add to the sauce. Not only that, but the heat itself comes from the chili, not chemical extracts and other weird stuff that tastes awful and gives you a terrible stomach ache and flames coming from various parts of your body! Don't get me wrong, they do sell other sauces with multiple flavor ingredients for cooking, burgers and the like. But they're chili sauces taste like... well, the chili they're made from. Amazing! So if you're looking for a high quality sauce that actually tastes like fresh Scorpion peppers (two kinds), then you've found it! (Or Ghost peppers, then go for the Zombie). Both are worth the premium price as you'll know the moment this stuff hits your tongue that you've found your new favorite high-quality chili sauce! Enjoy! An Additional Note: Since these sauces use much less vinegar than normal hot sauces, they have to be refrigerated after you open them. If you open your sauce and let it sit out on the counter it will go bad fairly quickly, as I've had the experience of finding out. Also, I called the company about why the sauces cost so much. They told me it's just their "superhot" sauces that do, (others they make are a lot cheaper), because they are indeed made from mostly the chili they list on the ingredient label. They don't use a bunch of fillers, dried powders, vinegar, chemical extracts etc., and so they obviously cost them a lot more to make. Finally, remember that the dominant flavor of the Rapture and the Zombie sauces is indeed the chili: Ghost Pepper in the case of Zombie, Scorpion in Rapture. If you're looking for fruit flavors, or other spices like I think a good Vindaloo is made from, then these would not work "as is" but as an addition to other flavors you'd add to a sauce. They are strictly "chili" sauce, not "sauce made with chili" and other ingredients, if that makes sense. And to me, that's exactly what they taste like: the chili. Enjoy!

Tied as the Hottest Sauce Without Extract I Have Tried
Rapture 2.0 (sometimes just called Rapture but 2.0 is visible on the label) is tied as one of the two hottest sauces without extract that I have tried. It has a dark color, has a pleasant visual texture that reminds me of fruit preserves (I’m guessing what I’m seeing is seeds) and is thin enough to poor easily but a little thicker than some competing sauces. It tastes a heck of a lot better than Da Bomb Beyond Insanity (or even Evolution) and the disappointingly mild (at least compared to advertising even though it’s still on the upper end of medium hot) Last Dab Xperience. Recently my journey to try the hottest hot sauces without pepper extract led me through many sauces from a variety of companies and after starting to think that even extract free sauces needed to taste bad to be especially hot, I came across the two hottest sauces without extract that I had tried in the same day. The Rapture 2.0 is one of them with 66% peppers and a burn that, while lacking the type of burn found in extract sauces like Beyond Insanity, is about as hot as you can get without it , tastes much better and doesn’t give extract related stomach cramps. The blend of peppers in Rapture and the sauce it tied with is very similar with both featuring scorpion, reaper and habanero at the very start of their respective ingredient lists but they also both hit slightly differently. While the heat in Rapture 2.0 hits many places the one I noticed most in comparison to Elijah’s Xtreme Regret Reserve (the sauce it tied with) is the upper chest while Regret Reserve’s heat was stronger in the throat by comparison. Rapture 2.0 is darker, thicker and has a more complex texture compared to Regret Reserve but the two are very similar and both taste surprisingly good for this level of heat (though don’t go expecting the complex profile of a mild sauce like Neal’s Real Deal Smoked Onion) and I happily use both of them on my food several times a day without worrying that things will taste worst (I’m looking at you Last Dab Xperience) or give me stomach cramps (unlike Beyond Insanity). The sauce met my expectations in heat and exceeded them in taste and utility. One of the hottest non-extract sauces on the market today and at its current price (as of March 2025) is a great value for the money.

Great flavor and consistency though not nearly as hot as I thought it would be.
First thing’s first - this sauce is incredibly delicious. As far as flavor goes it’s definitely in my top 5. Due to the price I’ll probably use it more in moderation but I think I’ll always have a bottle on hand. This stuff tastes super fresh and I love that it uses all natural ingredients. Where it doesn’t quite live up to its hype is in the heat department. Don’t get me wrong, this packs a punch for sure, but it’s not nearly as hot as I thought it was going to be. I saw that this claims to be 1.2M SHUs and I was scared. It brought me back to the days when Blair’s 3AM extract (which is roughly the same) would absolutely knock me on my bum. I cautiously put the tiniest amount on a french fry and ate it. I was waiting for the heat to build to a moderate level but I only felt a whisper. I shook the bottle making sure to mix up all the good bits, tried again with just a touch, and same thing. I finally dipped a fry in it similar to how you would dip a fry in ketchup and - ahh yeah - that was the good stuff. I felt a nice rolling burn that lasted a couple minutes and then faded away. Still though, for the amount of sauce I put on my fry I was expecting to get absolutely blasted. Even Da Bomb (which is less than 200K SHUs) blasts me way harder than this. The difference is that Da Bomb is made with extracts so the oily extract might coat the mouth more and cause a different kind of pain, whereas these ingredients are all natural. I finally put a very healthy double-dollop on a chip and that sent me somewhere nice, though only briefly. I’m not some macho overly testosterone’d guy who pretends that heat doesn’t affect me. Da Bomb knocks me out, Mad Dog 357 puts me in pain, even eating a raw habanero leaves me panting, but this sauce just isn’t what I was hoping for. To me this feels like 100-150K SHUs, certainly nowhere near 10X that. Luckily the amazing flavor saves this sauce.

The tastiest, hottest, non-extract sauce out there.

A battle not for the feint of heart
After many days of consumption and several different uses of this hot sauce i can confirm one thing: This is a capstone to the Scoville scale that every chille head should have. No concentrates and 66% actual pepper flesh contents leads to an EXTREME and unique flavor. However with that being said, this is not a beginners sauce, or even something that people who " Oh i love spicy food" should enjoy, this is for SERIOUS spice hunters or people that want to push the boundaries of their extreme foods. Approximately a Q-tip sized glob on a single chip and the experience begins with a sudden burst of fruit like flavors that comes from the Peppers flesh, chewing, the bits of pepper get processed and the juices begin to soak out and into the mouth. This is where the heat kicks in, If you chew like a regular human being be prepared for an assault on your gums with numbing results and a seething spreading heat that can only be described as an apocalyptic fire fueled by napalm and pure hatred. The flavors of the additives such as the oranges and carrots gradually begin to be overwhelmed by an act of the devil himself and flavor of the seemingly smokey flavored Naga jholikia and Trinidads begin to show their bite. Their oils that have now presumably coated the entire mouth begin to settle in and start purging the unworthy. The actual heat gradually builds up in every area covered by the oils, tongue, lips, gums, teeth, tonsils, you name it, its probably on fire, I would have to imagine drinking a small glass of Millitary pepper spray ( Scoville level 1,100,000~) would be nearly refreshing by the time the heat reaches its pinnacle. This is some serious sauce with some serious repercussions for consuming raw / copious amounts of it. And I, I will be picking up another bottle to conquer once again. Overall this is some of the most flavorful and spicy sauce I have tried, I would rank it a close 1,200,000 Scovilles~ with probably around a 300k variation going UP to around 1,500,000 depending on your tolerance and knowledge of peppers, this is one of the first sauces that has caused NUMBNESS of my mouth entirely! Among my previously conquered variety's are the likes of Blairs 3AM - Concentrate 2,000,00 Scovilles Melindas Naga Bhunt jholikia - 800k Blairs "Death" sauce line - 300k ~ 500k Of course every good chilleheads rookie starter - Daves Insanity ~500k ~700k

Not as hot as I thought it would be.
This sauce is absolutely delicious and the natural pepper flavor really shines through. I just don't see how this hot sauce is 1.2 million Scoville units. Dave's ultimate insanity sauce seems far more spicy than this and it sits at a much lower Scoville rating. Otherwise it is a very good hot sauce, just doesn't seem to be as hot as advertised.

Hands down, THEE GREATEST SAUCE EVER.
What can I say? As a chili head I get pretty excited about all kinds of sauces/chilis, but I now know for 100% fact that it will be a tall, tall order for ANY company to top what the geniuses at TorchBearer Sauces have birthed in this beautiful elixir: The Rapture. The heat is as strong as you're going to get without nasty ass extracts. All of the heat here is from the chilis! Completely all natural. I can take the hottest of the hot and if you're looking for tears and heavy breathing, this sauce will definitely deliver. This sauce is NOT for the faint of heart. The taste of the three star chilis in this sauce is so delicious, I really am at a loss for words. The orange added to the mix adds a mild sweetness to the kick that just straight up makes me happy. Every bottle is made with 66.6% three of the world's hottest chilis. I was considering buying a second bottle after only trying a couple of drops just so when I ran out of of the first bottle, I wouldn't have to wait to get another one. Just buy it. Seriously. Don't even bother reading anything about it because once you taste it you'll realize words fail to convey it's greatness to those interested. LONG LIVE THE RAPTURE SAUCE.

Great heat AND flavor.
So I have loved this company for quite a while- as all their sauces are sooo tasty. This one included. It is not the hottest, all-natural sauce by any means, but it has a kick. My "problem" is- it tastes so good you go through a bottle in no time. I have some all-natural sauces that will take me 2 months to go through- Painapple, Primo's Swampadelic, etc... way hotter, but they don't pair well will a lot of foods- better in sauces that you are making for your food. The Rapture is great in or on anything. Keep in mind to refrigerate this one- as the others I mentioned don't use veggies and use more vinegar- but you don't taste it at all. If you like your sauces very hot with no added crap- buy this or the others above. But it is pricey and it doesn't last long.
