Funny book just like the anime.
The book is pretty amusing and easy to read. It's pretty darn short, though only about 190 pages. If your coming from the anime, the only real difference is you get Kazumas inner monologue.

A Blessing on this Wonderful Series!
This novel shares similarities with other isekai series, such as Re:Zero, .hack, Gulliver's Travels, and Alice in Wonderland, however this series is very self-aware and has a great comedic focus. Originally based on a web novel, and now with a manga and anime adaptation, with each having many similarities and several differences. The light novel is directly from the author whereas some important details are in this book that aren't mentioned in the other two current mediums. The characters are quite varied and all four of the main group are weird in their own unique ways, but they fit together so well. As the first in the series, this book definitely has more focus on Kazuma, the main character, and Aqua, however if you begin to develop favorites outside of those two, don't worry, as future books delve into the other characters in greater detail. This is a definite recommendation to anyone into isekai and comedy genres.

Really good start
I really liked this book and found it very difficult to put down. There were a lot of surprises, moments when the standard Isekai tropes roll in but the author will switch things up in a never-expected manner. Really looking forward to the next installment.

Hilarious
Having come to the light novels after having watched both seasons of the anime series, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was afraid that the comedic timing and hilarious delivery of the anime would be lost on written paper. Well to anyone on the fence I can safely say, the light novel is just as good if not better than the anime! Natsume Akatsuki is a genius plain and simple and really loved getting a more in depth look at the world of Konosuba. The level of writing also really surprised me, some light novels are so poorly written that while the plot seems interesting, the writing just puts you off. Konosuba is well written, a lot more than I was expecting so hats off to Mr. Akatsuki. All in all, I really enjoyed the book and look forward to more!

Just as fun as the anime!
I loved the anime and couldn’t wait till the next season. I was a bit worried at first that it wouldn’t be as funny however the light novel retains the same humor. It is just as fun to read as it was to watch originally.

Megumin is best girl.
KonoSuba is a fun, comedic take on the traditional fantasy genre with common RPG video game mechanics thrown in. The story will be familiar to anyone who has seen the anime, but I would still recommend the light novel for fans who enjoyed the characters. For reference, episodes 1-6 of the anime cover the entire first book. The story is pretty light and moves along at a brisk pace, so I never felt like it had any dull moments. Instead of a strong plot, the characters and humorous situations take center-stage. The only downside is that the book is roughly 30-40 pages shorter than most other light novels, so I burned through it pretty quickly. All in all, I would definitely recommend it.

Read this after watching the 2 seasons + movie of anime and still craving more Konosuba content. Overall excellent read, though the first half of this book felt like reading the script for the first few episodes of anime: it's almost exactly the same. The novel does differ after the Main 4 are all together, and adds more context from the anime. Since season 3 is nowhere in sight, I will have to read the light novels to scratch my Konosuba itch. And after reading this first one, I'm not sad about that!

Funny and interresting, a good parodie of Isekai novels. You should read it. If you watched the anime, this is firt half of the season 1.

Oh boy. Having fallen in love with the anime and discovered that the reason it was short (10 eps only) was that its prime existence was to advertise a light novel...... I've bought the manga, since I like comic books even when they read back to front. I gather that there are 11 volumes of the light novel of which only two so far have made it into English. and also *sob* that there'll be no season 3 of the anime unless more people buy the light novels and manga..... Right. Is the light novel as good a read as the anime is to watch? Oh definitely. The prose style is easy to follow and enjoyable even if one misses the slapstick of the anime. An advantage is that you get more story, quite a lot gets cut from the anime including the first time they meet Wiz! Kazumas descriptions of his adventuring companions are priceless. Such cynicism in one so young. Between this volume and volume two - we reach the point at which the first anime ends with Destroyer. Am I going to keep buying? Oh yes. If theres no more anime I want more Kazuma, Darkness, Megumin and even Aqua. Will Kazuma ever get a chance with Eris? Even if she does pad her chest? Roll on the next 9 volumes!
