Workhorse more air volume than expected
This review is for the 18" High Velocity Oscillating Pedestal Fan in Chrome. This is my second one. The first one I put together in about 30 minutes did not run – Motor was dead on arrival, it had a big dent in the plastic housing from shipping. I returned it and got another one. Was pleased with the excellent job getting the replacement to me 2 days after I reported the failure. They did not wait for the return before shipping the replacement – BRAVO. Overall, I am happy with the fan and recommend it. It is workhorse, putting out more air than my 22-inch box fan. The aluminum blades are superior to plastic blades. The small diameter wire metal grille provides far less air movement resistance than the bulky plastic louvers on many fans for two reasons – one, the surface area is less and two, the round bar material is more aerodynamic than the square bars used on plastic grilles. Below are my pros and cons plus some tips on assembly. Pros: This fan blasts air – definitely high performance on the volume of air delivered. Stick your head out of your car at 20 mph to get a similar effect. This is not a personal fan for your desk or office. This thing is good for a 15 x 25 foot large room even then it is a bit of overkill. The fan is simple to operate. The 100 watt motor is about 1/8 horsepower and gets warm during use as expected but not that hot. There is an ETL label on motor. Height adjustment works well though at full up the center off the fan is only 46.5 inches off the floor. (The description misled me as I expected it to be taller. The description says it adjusts from 44 to 57.5 inches – those dimensions must be for the top of the fan. Actually the top only goes up to 56.5 “.) There are three speeds but they are very close to each other, the difference between low and high is marginal. Not near as much variation as my old box fan. There is a FUSE in the power cord. Never saw this before on any other tools. If your fan does not work, you will need to remember to check the fuse – I hope I remember. Overall all, the fan looks good. I like the metal blades and chrome grille. The chrome plastic motor cover is ok so long as the chrome stays on it. In addition, the amount of air it puts out is fantastic. CONS: Low speed needs to be much slower. I cannot use the fan unless I move it far away or tie down everything that can move – it will blow pencils off the table. No cord storage as described but who cares the 6’ cord is too short to require storage – it needs a 12’ cord minimum. No vertical tilt as claimed in description. You can only blow horizontal. Vertical tilt would be nice – I have already put the fan on top of a box to get it to blow higher. Since the base is round, it does not work well to try to shim the base to vary the angle, I am afraid it would fall over. No adjustment to sweep angle. The fan oscillation is very wide, its sweep measures in the 68 to 70 degree range, short of the 90 degrees claimed in the description but still very wide. It would be nice if the sweep could be adjusted to a smaller angle in the 30-degree range. 70 degrees is good coverage for a barn but in my home, it blows papers and other stuff around so I usually have to turn off the oscillation. Not Whisper quiet, Measured in the mid 80 dB range, a quiet library is 40 dB, an office is 70 dB and a noisy street is 80dB so the fan is about as loud and a city street. The main frequency is in the 200 Hz range so it is not an obnoxious noise, it sounds like a prop airplane ready for take-off. Since the three speeds are so close together, the noise level only changed 1 or 2 dB from low to high. This is too loud to use while watching TV. ASSEMBLY Experience: Pretty easy to assembly: attach base with 4 bolts – mount motor to base with 1 screw, attach blade assembly to motor shaft with 1 screw, attach back half of grille to motor, 4 screws, clip front half of guard in place with attached latches. Recommendations: • Test the motor before you assembly the fan – plug it into your wall outlet and turn it on, make sure it runs before you waste time, like I did, putting it all together to find out it doesn’t work and then have to take it apart to send back. • Do not bother trying to get the four bolts very tight that hold the main support tube to the base. There is so much flex in the plastic base that it does not matter if the bolts are very tight. The whole assembly is wobbly when finished. The motor wobbles on the support tube too. • The blade assemble hub that sticks out goes towards the motor. • Align the blades for a better balance; mine vibrated straight out of the box. I mounted the blades positioning the fan so it faces my countertop in a manner that I could measure the distance between the countertop and the blade face. I rotated the blades by hand to tweak them so the edges of the blades were all the same distance from the countertop. It made a noticeable improvement in reducing the vibration and reduced the noise level a little too. • Remove the burrs off the edges of the blades especially the tips. These create drag reducing efficiency and causing more noise. • Put the guard on correctly so the carrying handle is at the top – I did not read the directions and mine ended up on the side. • Use needle nose pliers to bend the grille latches so they clip on. Do not try to change the opening – Slightly bend the latch around its pivot point towards the front grille so when it closes it is forced against the back grille and over the front grille edge. July 29, 2022 Update: Fan is still working, I use it 24/7 during the summer months to circulate air in a circular circuit through 6 rooms of my house. It is wonderful at keeping the air conditioner air well distributed and I've noticed that I now have my thermostat set several degrees higher than normal. The motor bearings have frozen up twice on me during the winter months when I don't use it. It just hummed when I tried to turn it on. I shut off quickly so the motor winding didn't burn up. It is next to impossible to get to the bearings to lubricate. I broke a hole in the side of the housing and ended up spraying WD-40 in the direction of the bearings the first time. I fully disassembled it the second time and still had issues getting to the front bearing as the assembly is press fit together. Both repairs worked and the fan runs great, it starts without issue. The noise is less of an issue for me as I have it in the door opening of a room I don't use. I also don't use the oscillation. I originally bought to put in the laundry room to dry cloths on a line but it is too powerful for that purpose.

Comfort Zone CZHVP18EX High-Velocity 3-Speed 18-inch Industrial Oscillating Pedestal Fan
Didn’t see the instructions until I had it put together! LOL 😂 Easy to assemble. Nice looking, really circulates the air. I love it, been shopping for a good fan for the last few weeks, this old house doesn’t have central air and it’s getting humid here and the window air is in the living room, so it’s warm in our bed room. Looks very nice. I’d recommend this if you’re looking for a larger fan with lots of air flow. I’m impressed. Update: I had to move it as far away from my bed. It blows to hard on low! This fan is too strong for its own good 😉 But I love it, keeps me cool, I have to have a fan all year long. I’m very very happy with my purchase! Update: this is the second one I’ve ordered that’s how happy I am with the fan. Bought this for the dining room. Moves a lot of air. Again I’d recommend this fan, I’m very happy with it! Update again...fan is still working great and on the lowest setting and it’s very cold here at night and I’m using my heater and fan together and it’s keeping my room perfect. Like I wrote before I have to have a fan running at night to sleep 💤 and I’m sleeping like a baby. I really love this fan! Update-I’m still using my fan on low, medium and high blow to hard and I get a stuffy head from too much air in my face and now I’ve moved my bed around and this is nowhere close to the foot of my bed, and I still stay cold with my heater on. You may have a need for a heavy duty fan, then this is it! I still love it and it’s running 24-7! I still highly recommend this fan. It does feel good to sleep in a cooler room! LOL 😂

Poor quality product, poorer customer service
So we purchased one of these fans last July. It was powerful enough to blow cool air even on the hottest most humid days. (We live in Michigan where the humisery is terrible during the summer.) Anyway, it worked well so we purchased two more. They arrived in August of last year. (Shipped August 6 to be exact. We no longer have the specific date they arrived but probably within a day or two of shipping I would guess, so exactly one year ago, give or take a day.) Any way, we used them for a month or two with no issues. Then summer was over. The fans got placed in a spare bedroom for the fall/winter/spring. We took them out to start using again this summer and only one still works as it should. One quit oscillating within a week of this summers use in June. We didn't say anything (our mistake, will not happen again.) But we figured fluke it still worked, just didn't oscillate, not that big a deal. Then last week a second one stopped spinning altogether unless my husband took the front cover off and manually spun the blades to get them going which he has to do every time. It will not stay running in low setting, only high and only after being forced to start. I contacted the seller. The fans are only a year old. One year, but have only had roughly four months of total use. Since its possibly a day over the one year warranty (because I didn't complain right away and can not say exactly what day they arrived), according to them, they will do nothing. I dispute it but I am sure I won't get anywhere. So buyer beware. These people do not stand by their product. By the way, the first one I purchased at about 40.00 early in the season and when I went back to purchase again, the price had increased to almost 80.00 as demand was higher due to the season. I won't say price gouging, pandemic and all, supplies short, and I did purchase them because I was happy with the first. But that shouldn't mean quality and customer service should suffer. I would give them no stars because I don't like how they do business, and one fan is basically useless, but to be fair, one fan, the one we purchased first, is still working as it should. Its the two that the price was raised on that we got exactly one year ago that are crap. And I will stay honest in my feature ratings because they aren't overly noisy (especially the one that doesn't work) and they were easy to assemble so there is that. But they are not built to last past one season and then you've had them a year ( stored) and are screwed. Good luck.

5 months old and stopped working
No complaints on the fan it has worked just like it was supposed to. My issue is It stopped working after only five months and now how do I get it replaced with only a year warranty. They should make it a lot Easier to have it replaced.

Good enough
Not the best fan out there. I got what I paid for. The best price for a fan this size. Makes a lot of noise. Blade wobbles. Plastic housing around motor. Thin metal grill. But it keeps me cool on hot days. I use it at my work bench .

I Love This Fan
When we assembled our fan it had crack in the base & it vibrated really bad if you used it above 1 of 3 speeds. We called the company & they sent a replacement. Very easy company to work with. This will be our 1st summer using the replacement fan but I don't foresee any problems as it works perfectly and cools/blows air our large family room. It is a little noisy however, when I purchased a "High Velocity" fan I expected it to be a little nosier. It is heavy when we move it but again I expected that with buying a "High Velocity" fan. Last year the defected fan worked very well. If you purchase this product I hope you enjoy it's comfort as much as I do. With all the comments about the motor going out within a year I am certainly hoping that will not happen to mine. But if it does I feel the money the fan cost me was definitely less expensive than air conditioning would have been.

Ok product.
Ok product. Top screw for the fan' s shroud will not screw back on. Now it rattles when set to the high setting. 2nd fan did the same thing. Very strong flow though At first the fan smelled like burning plastic also and got hot after use.

Tornado in my room.
Its like having a tornado in your room ! Fan not recommended for everone. But for me. I Love it ! Had to do some adjusting cause the fan cover would clack. Not sturdy. Yes it is noisy. Wife hates it cause too much wind for her. But the velocity feels commercial grade ! For the price. Worth it ! Its a either you love it or hate type thing. I recommend to by 2 fans. 1 a little more easy. And this one when you need it. But yes. Worth buying ! Im using fan on low and it feels like a tornado in my room ! Lmao.
