Astouding. Best growth out of 4 cat grasses from the same vendor
I bought 4 varieties of cat grasses from this vendor. They were all prepared at the same time in the same way using the same soil mix. A sample was frozen overnight, then soaked in room temperature water for 24-hours, then finally spread over the soil mixture and then loosely covered with about 2 cm of soil. I have attached 2 pictures of the particular grass reviewed (Wheat) and also two pictures of all of the grasses together in their separate containers (wheat, 2 x rye, barley and oats) . They rye sample was planted identically in two different containers to see if that made a difference - which it didn't - which rules out any differences due to containers. What you see here is about one week of growth. All were planted in the same density so the differences in pattern are not due to planting one more densely than the others. The wheat is astounding - covering the entire growth area with no bare patches whatsoever. The oat grass is the least dense and vigorous variety. The barley seed seems to attract animals outside to dig holes in the mixture and also climb into the container and mat down the grass. and the rye grass is in between the vigor of the wheat and oat. All containers were grown in the same area so the only reason why animals would prefer to dig up and sit on one container and ignore the other 4 is due to the grass itself.I'm leaving the exact same text for all reviews, but the stars will differ. The photos of the specific grass will be only attached to the specific review but the photos of all 4 varieties will be in all. There is no feedback left for flavor because I didn't taste them myself and the grass is still to new for my cats to be comfortable with it. They are curious and sniff at it, but they still both prefer to eat the regular grass on my lawn. However, all of these purchased grasses are now at the stage where cats can eat them. All 4 varieties are great with the wheat in my particular order astounding. I bought the largest quantities available from this for each which was 10bs each of barley, oats, and wheat and 5lbs of rye.Look up the other Thunder Acres varieties if you are interested in the particular pictures of that particular seed.

One pack indulges our two kittie’s cravings for greens about a year. 100% germnation!
I got this to grow greens on a sunny south-facing window sill for our 2 indoor cats, who really enjoy their “greens” daily. I buy potting soil mix without fertilizer (changed from using an organic potting soil mix after finding white fungus growing over top of mix- maybe from earthworm castings in that mix - didn’t want my kitties ingesting fungus, yuk!) and have 3 coffee mugs I bought at Goodwill. I use about a teaspoon of seed per each. I start one on a sunny south facing window sill, and when it sprouts I start seeds in another so I have continuous supply. 100% germination last pack of seeds from this vendor which lasted me almost a year for two kitties - have grass tall enough for them to munch 4 - 5 days after planting and if I keep it moist they keep growing up to a week after first “tasting”. I do not allow kitties to free feed on grass - just an hors d’oeuvres before their main din and then I remove and hide. My dad and his wife grew in a big planter in their sunroom years ago and one of their kitties had to have surgery to remove a large mass of undigested grass - he became an addict and would not leave it alone🙀.

They Grow Fine but My Cat Prefers Oats Grass
Update: After I moved the growing grass to my car's dashboard, the grass got softer and became more like grass. Maybe with the artificial sunlight it gets very stiff, almost like leaves of big pines. Under the artificial lights there is no flat part. The leaf is like a skew stick and gets longer....... Maybe I am putting the grass too close to the artificial sunlight.... But the other seeds (oats) were grown under the exact same environment and they didn't become like stiff sticks. Oh, the most important thing to tell you is that my cat eats it now - not in the needle-like state, but after it became like a leaf with float part. He still much prefers oats, though. He's a strange cat with a very picky eating habit. He purrs while eating oats grass, while he hesitates before eating this wheat grass, and he eats much less wheat grass than oat grass. The original review after here: I know how to grow grass. My cat eats oats grass by a different brand, but he would not eat grass grown from this product. I notice the grass are very stiff, coarse, and fibrous. My cat sniffs it and tries to chew it but he does not eat them. So strange. I guess I have to stick to oats. I also give cat ready-to-use wheat grass bought at health food stores. My cat does have preferences in what kind of grass it is. He really likes oats. He's such a picky eater...I thinks this product has very high germination rate, though. I think it depends on one's experience on growing grass. I did a bit of trial and error stages and now I do this: Soak the seeds for an hour, drain them, and wrap in a wet paper towel and put in a container with cover on but not tight, giving a little air flow, and keep it in a dark place for a few days, then put that on a wet cray pebble with water only at the bottom part and put a loose cover over the whole thing and keep that for a few days, then I remove the cover and put that under the artificial sunlight set with 10 hours of light per day.

Be patient, plan well
For some reason, I had some bare spots in my postage stamp of a lawn, and my cat loves to eat grass, so why not plant some that's okay for him to eat, i.e., that he won't throw back up...inside my home? I had had good results with this grass seed before, so I tried it again. However, I forgot that I had an aerator until after I put down the seed and the soil on top of the seed (no, I'm not a green thumb!). I planted the day before rain was expected, with sun expected the day or so after that. I aerated somewhere in there. I also noticed that the birds and the squirrels seemed to be digging in that area and eating something. I wasn't too optimistic. It turns out that my fears were off base, for lo and behold, a couple of weeks later, like a crew cut, the baby grass started growing!

Best cat grass ever! Really it is.
So reading Lynn T.'s review, I took a chance and wow! I followed her example. I have 3 coffee cups and started the this process. (see pics for the stages) I put potting soil in one and then 1 tsp of the wheat grass. Press them in and give it some water. Left it out in a south facing window (I have a small hot house to protect our indoor plants) and let it do it's thing. When it sprouts, 2 days later (far left cup), I start another one. By day 4 the first one (middle cup) is ready to be eaten by the monster kittens! The devour it within minutes. (see kittens pic). I leave that for another 2 days (right cup) as the sprouted one is now ready. I then switch them, make the 3rd one and repeat. Compared to store bought is not even a comparison. With the 2lb bag I have enough for a year or two.

Very green and tall.
This cat grass grows very, very tall. My cat likes cat grass. She liked this one very much. She likes it when I feed it individually to her.

Cat doesn't like the grass
The grass grew ok but our cat refuses to eat it, we have bought several other grasses from local stores and he will eat it. We now have a large bag of seeds that are of no use to us.
