Once remixed, this product is superb. Excellent flavor, texture etc. This product has so many incredible uses. We love coconut and use this in cooking, drink mixes like pina coladas and desserts. The hard part: You have your work cut out for you since this product apparently got hot for a long enough period that ALL the coconut powdered solids fell to the bottom of the product and hardened. I don't even know if it is possible to get this product without this happening since it likely ships from overseas where temps can be quite warm. The shipping container as well as time it takes to get pulled and put into a warehouse are also factors. Additionally, warehouse storage could be warm. Then delivery to your home in the summer it could be warm. In any event, BE PREPARED for a long reconstitution period and hopefully you also have someone nearby to help you when you get tired of trying to re-mix this. I did this all manually with a wooden spoon and my wife and I took turns stirring this for over 2 hours to get this back to perfection. We started by making sure the contents were good and warm. Once we mixed it to zero lumps/clumps, we moved the pail into a large bowl and surrounded it with ice. We stirred it constantly, making sure not to get any ice/water in it while re-adding ice around it as it melted. Finally, we got it to a solidified state. This ensures a smooth consistency and it will hold once it fully comes down to 75f. The stirring toward the end, as it starts to set up firmer becomes quite a workout.

I love this coconut butter! It's very good. The flavor is excellent and I think it's smooth. I've used the Nutiva and Artisana brands and I think out of those two, Artisana has a more true coconut flavor. This Kevala coconut butter is just like the Artisana in my opinion, maybe even a little better. For those who say the lid is hard to open, especially the first time, there's an easy way to do it. I took a pair of scissors and snipped the side openings where they are marked all around the edges of the lid. Once that's done it's pretty easy to unsnap and no one gets hurt. This coconut butter is a great buy with excellent quality and flavor. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

After reading all of the reviews, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But, I eat coconut butter regularly. So, i went ahead and made the purchase. Opinion Quite honestly, it was not any different in consistency than any other brand of coconut butter. That being said, let me level set expectations: 1. No matter what brand of coconut butter you get, there’s always the “butter” (ground coconut pulp usually hardened as it is packed into the container) on the bottom and “oil” (the consistency of a wax, jelly, or liquid- depending on its temperature) at the top. The primary difference in this brand and others is its’ size. In my case, I purchased the 8lb container. 2. When you deal in large volumes, proportionately, there is naturally more butter and oil. As one can imagine, a standard size jar is easier to manipulate and stir, etc. Thus, be prepared. For seasoned coconut butter consumers, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. 3. You might consider transferring it to smaller containers for facilitate storage. It will be easier to distribute later. I noticed some reviewers complained about status of packaging upon arrival. My container was perfectly sealed. It looks similar to a small plastic paint can. And similarly, in order to open it, you must break the seal by cutting the lip of the lid in various pre-marked locations. This allows you to pull it off. I noticed others complained about expiration date and storage. If there’s been an issue with expiration, that’s no longer a problem. Mine doesn’t expire for nearly 11 months from now and it will be long gone before then. Further, in reading the container, it states “refrigeration is not recommended.” So, I have mixed feelings about this: I’m sure that they have enough experience with quality control, etc in order to state that. Why would any company risk their reputation otherwise? I would also guess that once you open the product and how you utilize and serve from the container may effect how long it will last before going rancid. I don’t intend to store mine in the refrigerator. I would also mention that I will always verify that it is fully closed after each use and won’t be double-dipping with utensils or anything of that nature which my shorten its’ life expectancy. Overall Evaluation Taste - excellent Quality - excellent Ease of Use - good / considering size Color - good / normal Cost - excellent This product is great for frequent users. If you are a casual user or experimenting with coconut butter, this is way too much for small/infrequent consumption. For those on keto//Paleo/Adkins/low carb diets, it’s a great addition. I hope my evaluation helps anyone considering to purchase this product. 👍🏻

When I first got this bucket of coconut butter I couldn't open this thing for NOTHING! They have it way too tightly sealed and I injured myself before I realized I should use some heat to get the plastic to get soft so I could take my claw hammer and open this stuff. Ugh I'm feeling better now and its been about 5 days, it was sealed in a big plastic bag, bare in mind this weighs 8 pounds so if you just want to try a little bit than you won't want to purchase such a huge batch lol, as it turned out I love the taste of this stuff and it is helping my diabetes and memory issues. Its kind of like peanut or almont butter consistancy but that coconut flavor is subtle and tasty, its really like a coconut paste and its great, I can't wait to cook with it! But for now I spread it on crackers, I had it on a croissant today and it was good stuff. I recommend it for people who love coconut!

I’m so glad I found this because I was spending so much money on the small containers. This last me so long but I have to say towards the end of the tub it was really hard. Taste was great!

I LOVE this coconut butter. I eat a ton of it. However, when it arrives the oil is separate from the butter and it has to be mixed together. Small glass jars you can heat up in the oven. This is a big plastic tub so you have to get creative. I left mine out in the sun all day to get it soft, but man, stirring it was still nearly impossible. Not sure what I'm going to do in the winter, probably need to stick it in a giant pot and heat it. I just don't want the plastic leaching into my food... other than that, the price is awesome and the product is top notch.

I have bought this product twice. I really like it, and use it in a special cookie recipe, and other baking recipes. It is a little hard to open the container, but my husband figured that out. I warm the amount I need over some warm water, so that I can stir it. The flavour is worth the effort!

I have been using coconut manna/butter regularly for some years to make a special dessert but recently used the Kevala brand in the 8 lb pail for the first time. Mixing in the separated oil was relatively easy and when mixed the flavour and consistency were as expected. HOWEVER, I noticed that the separated oil remains liquid at room temperature (below 70F) and the dessert made from this product is softer than usual at room temperature. Thus I am left wondering whether or not with this product I really am consuming 100% organic coconut butter. For health reasons I can only hope so. I have deducted 1 star based on the uncertainty but the product merits 5 stars if it really is as labelled.

This product is great, but when I opened it, it was obvious that somewhere along the way of getting from where it was produced to me, it had fully melted and then re-solidfied again. There are two distinct layers of separated product in the container, with the oil being at the top, and the outside of the container covered in an oily film. I tried to initiate a return or request a replacement via Amazon but it just says this product is not refundable. I ended up contacting the company outside of Amazon and they provided me with a video on how to resolve. It worked but was time consuming. I’m quite happy with the product itself, so I’m mixed on my review. Great product but I don’t want to have to spend hours remixing it every time I buy it. Saying that, this very well could have been a one-off circumstance.
