Elastic Thread 11 Yards-Black

I used a spool of this thread the very first time I decided to learn shirring on a new machine, and shocked myself at how well I did on my first attempt! The elastic thread glided through my machine and it was easy to keep the gathers relatively neat as a total novice! Then disaster struck. I ran out of elastic thread before I could finish my project and decided to buy a cheaper spool from a different brand. What a mistake. Suddenly shirring was the stuff of nightmares I always thought it would be. The cheap stuff kept jamming my machine, snagging holes in my beautiful fabric, and snapping in the middle of a row. I had to totally recut that piece of my pattern and start over after buying another spool of this because I learned my lesson. This is worth every penny. Don’t waste money on inferior competitors.

I purchased this to turn a frumpy T-shirt into a cutter one. It worked well-very strong. Color is accurate.

What we needed

Took a while for delivery so I had an opportunity to purchase some elsewhere for the intended project. Still a wonderful item to have on hand for smocking or joined hair combs or beaded bracelets or anywhere a stretch is desired in a small diameter. Fits in a yarn needle or a pipecleaner leader for a childs beaded bracelet project. Bobbin thread for stretch smocking by machine. Good quality. Delivered in good condition.

Not very strong

I admit, I used the thread in a non-standard way. I have fixed two pairs of socks and legwarmers that didn't have enough stretch in them. As both were already ready, and knitting them again was not an option, I found a quick fix with this yarn. I crocheted a line or two in the direction I needed the stretch with a small hook (3mm), and the result is what I was hoping for - good stretch where I need it. Better than if I'd have used a needle to add the thread post-knitting.

This product worked great! Exactly what I was looking for. My daughter had a dance leotard with a mesh designed back that ripped badly her first time wearing it. We couldn’t return it so this was an attempt to stitch it back together so it would remain stretchy and be usable. You can tell there is a mend but it blends in with the design fairly well and completely repaired the issue. Thank you!!!!

I used this to fix a toque that had lost its elasticity and would slip down over my eyes. Worked like a charm! I'm happy to have been able to revive this item for such a small cost.

This product was exactly what I needed for shirring a project.

I have not used this product yet. I like Gutermann threads.

It is shiny black not mate black. When stretch out you see white not black.
