Char-Broil Trentino Outdoor Fireplace

The finish was scratched & chipped on a few corners, but nothing that previous feedback had not mentioned, and nothing some high temp spray paint could not fix. Not sure if the damage occurred in shipping or by material handling in the manufacturing process. I suspect the latter. My most serious concern is over this unit's size. It is smaller (and less expensive) than the larger Char-Broil Fireplace that Amazon has available. This can be both good and bad. The appearance of both are very similar, and while this one fits into a smaller area, standard size firewood will not fit in the fireplace. There are always slightly smaller pieces of firewood in a bundle, and these fit fine, but you are going to have to cut a fair number of the larger pieces in half to use them. On the other hand, I suspect the burn rate is not a function of the wood's length, and that a fire with shorter logs would burn about the same length of time as one with longer logs - just not use as much wood and give off as much heat. It has been a while since I studied heat transfer in thermodynamics, but if this proves to be the case, it will be a plus. Overall, unit looks good and works great.

I just recieved my Trentino fireplace. I recieved it in a pretty beat up cardboard box with lots of extra tape on it. This makes me believe it was opened before, or even returned before. When I opened it up screws and nuts fell from the box. Although they were all in there, they were just loose in the box. I thought, good everything will be alright. Well, the large base has a 2-3" dent in it that caused the paint to chip away. I put it together to see what it looked like and decided it wasn't worth the hassel of returning it and waiting for another one. The fireplace functions well. Like another review said, the removable screens don't firmly attach to the fireplace. It looks nice sitting far out in our yard with some adirondack chairs around it so I'm happy with it. I am just not pleased with Charbroil's flimsy packaging and the fact that Amazon would send such a beat up box with loose parts in it. My first bad experience with Amazon.

Bought this 4 years ago and has been outside ever since. I've used it maybe 10 times and have it under a custom cover made for the unit.I have play sand added to the base which does a good job protecting from scoring heat. A shop vac will pick up the carbon leftovers without sucking the sand.Overall, it's held up quite well except for the area that arrived with the corner paint chipped (that has started to rust and a little sand/prime/paint should fix it). However, the mesh surrounding and all the bolts have started to rust as well and will need to be attended to soon.Not a bad unit, just think the price is a little high for what you get. Be aware this thing is not packaged well for shipping.

I have owned this fireplace for 9 years, use it allot and think it's wonderful. It has finally worn out so I ordered a new one. The only problem is that I did not receive what was in the picture. (a black pagoda style fireplace) what arrived at my house is the same style but it's charcoal in color covered with white specks. It looks like an oldfashion enamal pot. The box it came in is a mess so there was no shipping it back. My only recourse is to paint it black, so I guess you could say I'm not happy with this purchase.The original was great, with all sides opening so you can cook marshmallows, and I loved it, only thing is I like the appearance of it in black.It's basically a terrific fireplace if you don't mind using some spray paint.

just arrived today, have not tried it yet. But it looks very nice, I love the white specks in the enamel. As other reviewers mentioned, there were several spots where the finish was damaged, the bottom pan also was bent on one side. I spray painted over the bare spots, looks fine. It was very easy to assemble in about 15 mins. The only disappointment, but I had expected this: It is really small, sort of "dolllhouse size". I bought this to replace a similar one - but much bigger - which I had for 9 years, the bottom pan rusted completely through, hence the replacement. I love this style because it is accessible from all 4 sides, and I use it quite a bit to burn yard wood and other items.

This arrived in a very timely manner which made very happy. But as soon as I opened the door after the bell rang I couldn't believe how damaged the box was. It looked like a child taped it there was so much tape. I took pictures of it just in case I had to return it. Once opened the styrofoam was completely crumbled and made a mess of my backyard. All the parts appeared to be there so I like many others assembled it because I didn't want to deal with a return. The base was scratched and paint was chipped on the edges. Everything went together easily. I just was surprised at how weak the screws used were. I'm pretty unhappy how this arrived and how it was damaged. Seemed to be maybe repackaged and re sold.

We've had this same fireplace for seven years and used it regularly for many wonderful evenings sitting around the fire. It can be used to make an enclosed, controlled roaring fire, or using just a few twigs and small logs makes for a short but pleasant fire. It has sat out in the weather uncovered (So. Calif. coast) and held up well, but finally it was time to replace it. We previously bought it locally but this time could not find it so ordered it from Amazon. It arrived quickly, but as so many others have stated, the box was banged up, had lots of added tape, and inside parts were dented, paint chipped, etc. So my rating is a 5 star for the product, but a 1 star for the packaging. I will be calling the company to let them know because it really is an excellent fireplace and just needs some protective padding in the box.

Arrived with a couple dents in it -- poorly packaged. Didn't bother returning it. It took about 30 minutes to put together with a wrench, ratchet and screw driver. It looks nice otherwise and seems well designed. It's neither sturdy nor flimsy, somewhere in-between. The base stayed cool when I had a fire in it which I appreciate. One thing that's not obvious from the photos is the broiler has a lot of white flecks in the finish (on purpose). I did not notice this when I ordered it.
