Versatile, Durable, Comfortable, and Sharp-Looking
I bought these right before a trip to Thailand where I knew I'd be walking a great deal and likely getting wet on a regular basis. I did some research for "quick-drying" shoes and came across these on a list of recommendations. Firstly, I liked the look and they did live up to the pictures in real-life. But more importantly, these things held up to the test of 3 very rigorous weeks of use almost right out of the box. The soles are good, hard rubber with a good bit of traction for most all surfaces, dry or wet. They also have a pretty durable upper mesh construct that would sometimes get dirty, but washed off pretty easily with just some warm water so they stayed looking sharp. The insoles are pretty comfortable too, I was walking between 5-10 miles a day and only on those more lengthy distances would my feet get a bit sore. I could wear them with or without socks and be totally comfortable. The versatility with socks was key, because they do not dry as rapidly as I might have hoped. The first time I got them wet I took out the insoles and set them upright to dry and in the morning, they were still pretty damp. However, after wearing them for a couple hours they dried up pretty quickly out in the sun. My feet would get a bit hot when it was hot and dry out, which meant I was sweating into them and there is a smell-factor now that I'm going to have to try and remedy but that's understandable. I had to wear them wet onto an airplane for the last leg of my trip home due to walking thru the rain (and noteworthy, if it's wet at all out your feet are going to get wet, they're not waterproof at all which is a bummer with socks on). Altogether, these were my go-to footwear throughout the trip and I was thankful to have them. I live in a colder climate so having closed-toe shoes to wear when changing climates was really nice. They are showing some very slight wear and tear but nothing out of the ordinary for the level of use I put them through and seem like they'll be good, reliable and sharp-looking footwear for several years to come. If you're a traveler, I definitely recommend them.

Lots of potentially innovative features don’t quite land, practically speaking
Looked up that tidbit on the company’s history section, though it doesn’t have anything to do with my review. The fold down back of the foot is a really novel concept, unfortunately it’s not as practical in practice. Have you ever worn a sneaker or no-lace shoe that had a back to it, forcing the back down to make the shoe more accessible? Do you remember how it felt? Well, that’s pretty much how it feels in these too. I just can’t get use to standing on the back of the shoe, especially for a long-period of time. I always revert to putting the shoe on the normal way. It’s still a nice shoe, just not as functional as I hoped. Maybe if they made the back thinner? Also, the front toe box area is nice and roomy but the mid foot is kind of narrow, making my fat feet squeeze into them. Not the end of the world, I’ve dealt with the issue all my life, just wish they had wide sizes. Finally, the no-lace system is great in theory but there’s no way to hook the laces so they stay tightened. Having said all this, the shoe is stylish and breathes super well and I still feel like bragging about the features to other people despite them not quite being as functional as I hoped.

All-day Comfort and Solid Shoe
I bought my first pair in 2022 and because I travel a lot, they're starting to wear a bit - iPhone says I'm averaging around 10k steps per day, 2X what I used to do when at the office - so I bought a second one in advance. Fit: I have a slightly wider foot and I've found that this particular model of Olukai fits me perfectly. Comfort: Thick soles are a trend these days, but these are great for a solid ground feel with enough protection. Breathability: More breathable than typical casual shoes, but a bit less breathable than well ventilated running shoes. I think it's great because too much ventilation leads to literal cold feet! Wear: I would say these are above average in durability (especially the upper), the outsole is seeing slight wear and tear, but not anything out of the ordinary. I've washed them about once every 3 months and they come out looking new each time. Convenience: I usually wear them as regular shoes, but I've used them as slippers where the heel fold design is really convenient when your hands aren't free. Overall one of the few casual shoes I really enjoy wearing every day - note to Olukai to keep the same fit, but maybe have another version with a slightly thicker and lighter sole. Tried the Moku Pae and it didn't fit the same.

Best barefoot shoe (and I’ve tried a lot)
I generally don’t leave reviews, but these shoes are worthy of the positive review. I have other Olukai which have been ok, but if you are looking for a true no sock/barefoot shoe, this should be your go to. I have worn Hey Dudes and other “sandal” shoes, but they would either not breathe right, end up not drying well, aren’t great being worn wet, or not have a lot of support. These shoes give me everything I was looking for - breathes, support, great feel when wet, dries fast, and a comfortable shoe without socks. I waited several months after my purchase to post this. They have checked every box.

Pricey
These are great, comfortable summer shoes. But the price is way too high for the durability factor. I think Olukai is unaware that many of us would gladly buy two pairs if they'd half the price, but are unlikely to purchase a second pair at the current high price if they break down so easily. Would probably buy multiple colors too.
