The Bells of Dublin

I've had this CD for many years but like it so much that I bought 3 to send as gifts this year and they were well received! Has a little bit of this and that, fast and slow, many different musicians and singers with a very Irish flair. Not your traditional Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer songs, nice break from that :-)

A stellar collection from the Chieftains and their musical comrades. I can recommend the CD highly, and the price was certainly right. Just once, though, I'd like to get a CD without a cracked case.

This is a beautiful recording of Christmas carols done up "Irish style" by the Emerald Isle's ambassadors to the world, The Chieftans. If you're like most of the people I played this for during this most recent Christmas season, you will find yourself saying, "What is THAT they're playing . . . is THAT Christmas music?!", or "I don't recognize any of these songs".Truth is, you will recognize a lot of them - and the pop artists who signed on to lend their voices to the season (Sting, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, Rickie Lee Jones, etc).When it's all said and done, you may wonder whether this went over like a lead balloon because it wasn't traditional enough - or because it was too traditional for ears now trained on the recycled commercial trash that gets shoved down our throats ad nauseum every Christmas season (i.e., the one that now begins right after Halloween).If you're like me and are able to open your mind to a variety of musical experiences, then you'll see this recording for what it is: Gorgeous Celtic music that, unfortunately, doesn't fit into the everyday playlist rotation. Oh well - next Christmas - I mean Halloween - will be here before you know it . . .

There isn't anything negative. The CD is great and I bought it for meself.

Thought I would take the time to let you know how important it is to make memories that last through all generations. This cd was suggested to us when my kids were small. I bought it about 15 years ago and played it every christmas. They loved it and associate it to a fun family time throughout the christmas season. About 4 years ago it broke and I never replaced it, but this year I went on the hunt and couldn't find it in any of my local stores. I went to the internet and found it quickly at a fraction of the price. It really gave a chuckle to all my kids when I played it for them. I am sure that they will have it with their kids in time. Thanks for the efficiency in the mailing and the convenience in the ordering. I highly recommend this celtic fun loving cd for your Christmas traditions. Sincerely Shelley.

This has quickly become one of my favorite Christmas albums! There is plenty of music ranging from traditional holiday tunes to new songs, all of which are played in the classic Chieftains style.

Great songs, wonderful music. I just wish it was on Amazon Music to play on my Alexa!!

My all time favourite Christmas CD. It was a gift to someone special and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

The musicians use different musical instruments and all blended into each one of the music pieces and this makes the Chieftains a big success, they know how to soften and how to play loud in all the right places, would recommend

Really good album with some great songs added. I would have added full star but for some reason it won't play on my ps4.

I know that I'm being picky, but having spent 2 consecutive Christmasses in hospital my love of Christmas has gone through the roof, and if something is a Christmas product then I like it to have that Christmas vibe. It's the Chieftains so you know that it will be good, but for me it didn't feel as festive as I would like.

The best atmospheric convivial sound of Christmas. An eclectic sound as not songs are deemed traditional. Great for those who get sick of the same old tunes.

An average production. Those tracks including "headline artists", to my ears at least, added nothing to the song and could have been anybody.
