Each package says it comes with both a step by step guide and a savings coupon. Although sealed neither package came with these?

Contact them, the coupons should be there. Mine fell out when I opened the packages.

Do I have to heat the sweet potatoes?

This is a great question! You do not have to heat these, they are ready to serve directly from that package. If you would like to heat those, remove the foil seal completely, heat on high for 15 seconds in the microwave, stir and of course always check the temp before serving :)
