Fermentis Safale US-05 Dry Yeast, 11.5 g (Pack of 8) (Limited Edition)

I am a novice mead maker. This was my first yeast purchase and have made two meads so far. This yeast has worked well with my clumsy first meads. I have had meads from commercial makers, and based upon that experience, I have detected no “off” flavors from this yeast. I recommend for novice mead makers.

I've picked up brewing as a hobby within the last year or so. I purchase brew kits from Northern Brewer and many of them suggest this yeast, so I decided to just purchase a large quantity of it. It works great and even works for hard cider.

I ordered this yeast based on reputation, and the fact that Munton's Gold was unavailable. It is the last time I will order this yeast: it did nothing!

I have made Beer and Cider with this yeast and had no issues. I still prefer liquid yeast but this does do the job really well.

The manufacturer of this product puts an expiration date that’s 3 years out. The yeast I received was set to expire in 4 months which means my yeast was 2 years and 8 months old. I wasn’t sure why this was called “special edition” but it should have been a warning that the item was being sold as different from the normal product which isn’t always a good thing
