I wish the package comes with. premiere button battery, those good for 10 years, instead of the cheapest one that they can find. As is, the first trouble shooting suggestion is replace the battery. The last thing a sick person wants to do is open up the thermometer, take out the button battery, then go out to buy a correct replacement battery, then put the thermometer back and then check the temperature!

This came with a dead battery, which I expected after reading the reviews. We tested it after putting in a new battery and got (literally) the green light. Good to go, right? Nope. My husband tried to use it when he got sick today (just a few weeks later) and it doesn't work at all.I wish I'd believed the negative reviews on this. Don't make my mistake. Now I'm out the cost of another thermometer. This time I'm going with a cheap one.

it works intermittently not like the two older ones i have which work great! maybe defective battery

I have used this thermometer almost exclusively at home, having had bad experiences with both tympanic and temporal thermometers. This one consistently gives the most accurate temperature readings, and is easy to use and read. I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for these qualities.
