These wicks are too wide to fit into Zippo lighters by default, as another reviewer suggested I managed to get (about my seventh, after ruining all previous attempted wicks) a wick into the lighter, after cutting the tip at an angle. Despite all this trouble, I still have 93 more wicks to go through at a fraction of the cost of official wicks. I call that a win.

The wicks I received have a fiberglass core surrounded by a braided cotton sheath with brass stiffening wires. The core is NOT plastic. Test this yourself by torching a sample of the core. It will melt into a glass bead but will not burn like plastic would. Fiberglass is an excellent and durable wick material. These wicks have four advantages over Zippo wicks. First is the fiberglass core. Second, they are about 2.5 cm longer than a Zippo wick (see picture). Third, they fit into a Zippo insert better than a Zippo wick (see picture). Fourth is the price. Zippo wicks are at least 17 times more expensive than these per wick. As an extra bonus for those of us who care about the environment, these wicks have minimal packaging. If you have trouble inserting these wicks, work a very small dab of petroleum jelly into one end to hold the fibers together, insert the wick, and trim off the end. You won’t loose more than a few millimeters doing this. If you want to pay a fraction of the name-brand price for a superior wick buy these

I haven't had time to completely test this wick but I do know that the end smoulders and will develop an ember when dry. The outer core is obviously cotton or some organic fiber. Wires appear to be copper. Core does not melt like polymer or plastic material . Threads easily by hand or using the wire lead add on method detailed on Dependable Flame YouTube channel Will update. UPDATE. does not perform as well as a ZIPPO factory wick as far as actually wicking, (AKA soaking up enough fuel to get it into the combustion chamber)...which is what a wick is supposed to do. A larger diameter would facilitate that but they're already above factory spec diameter. Review adjusted to reflect testing results.

My brother needed this words as a lighter so I bought him a pack. Good price use it for his zippo.
