Good wedge. Works good
Split some good size pine rounds with this guy, better then the sure splitter but nice to have both. Once it was about 2/3 of the way down it split the round into 4 pieces. Good price. Good solid steel and build quality. I'm sure I'll have it forever

this works well
I had about 30 oak logs about 14" in diameter and 16" - 20" long that I could not split with a hand powered hydraulic log splitter or my log splitting maul. I did not want to rent a gas powered splitter due to the cost for only a few logs. I tried before with the traditional wood splitting wedge but little success. So I got this Collins 4 lb. Forged Steel Diamond Splitting Wedge 7-in. This wedge and an 8 lb sledge hammer worked well splitting these very hard logs. Turn the log on end, find a crack in the log, place the point of the Collins wedge in the crack, then use a sledge-hammer hitting there wedge in until the log splits (often in 3 or 4 pieces. In some cases, I used the older traditional wedge after creating a 1/4" wide crack in the oak log to supplement the Collins wedge. Logs cut at an angle (diagonal) were hard to split due to instability. I plan to get many years of use out of this simple and very sturdy wedge. Good tool.

Broke the tip off my 1st one
Go thet over a year out of my 1st one. Lots of heavy use on hard wood. Finally broke off about 3" of the tip in Oct. Used a grinder to shape a blunt tip & I still use it as an effective wedge. Immediately ordered a 2nd one. They are quite easy to use & the diamond shape really splits through hard & knotted wood. Not for amateurs. Most effective with a long handled, heavy sledge head. Love it.

Makes wood splitting much easier and faster.
I love these things. So much faster than a regular wedge splitter. Keep two on hand for wide or very hard logs. Easy to hit with an 8-pound maul or a 4-pounder. Goes in instantly and begins to split within a few hits, sometimes splits within 2 or 3. Easy to sharpen, keep clean, lasts for years, but the sharp, thin point can break off if repeatedly forced into very hard tree knots. Mine last three to four years. Worth it by far!

Doesn't work as described in reviews.
Don't believe the reviews here. I bought because reviews said splits red oak large pieces of with ease. It doesn't even come close to splitting. It gets stuck in the so deep then you have to bang it out, woodnever split. I don't recommend this product.

This worked better than I thought it would, if you’re going to split wood, you definitely need this wedge.

Good old fashioned tool
It is great for splitting the rounds. And a great physical exercise, swinging a sledgehammer at it.

Muy buena cuña para leñar. No se desgasta tanto tan fácil. Permite leñar troncos gruesos. El inconveniente es el precio.
