I'm now revisiting for a second time. It really does make me smile as I'm reading it.I've had quite a tough time at work recently and have been rather badly treated by some colleagues. (Public sector, what do you expect?!) This has really helped me with that and I'm trying to see the positives in moving on and not looking back.

Nothing cheers you up like a meandering blether with your best pals...and that’s what this is!
Imagine yourself sitting in a pub with a couple of your closest pals, moaning about the weather, work and the latest disappointing performance by your team...that was easy, right? Now imagine one of your mates flipping the table over, pouring a pint over your head, tapping you on the arm and shouting “Tig, you’re it!” before running out the door. This book is THAT. It’s the cold beer pouring over you shock to the system, it’s the shocking realisation that something isn’t right as a table flips. It’s the fun of a childhood game that reminds you to change your outlook and stop wallowing in your own self pity. This book will have you skipping to work, smiling at strangers and rejoicing in supermarket queues. In short, whoever said you can’t buy happiness was right, but if you BUY THIS BOOK you’ll have done the next best thing, you’ll have bought a simple reminder of how to rediscover your happiness and keep hold of it.

Positiveness-lite
While this would be a suitable pick-me-up for someone unhappy at work or recovering from a relationship break up, this think-yourself-happy philosophy is not suitable for anyone with depression, anxiety, PTSD or other mental health difficulties, and the authors’ dismissal of both professional therapy and medication is glib, inappropriate and could be dangerous.

Having just finished Shine with an ironic shine from that big yellow ball in the sky, I am enthused and energised for what lies ahead. I don't often read self help/therapy books but if this is anything to go by, then I'm hooked.Very well done Gav and Andy; I thought the style and manner in which you worked together for (quite unbelievably) the first time, was incredible. I absolutely loved the book and my eyes are now pealed as to what's to come from you both. The humour matched with phylosophy worked brilliantly. I laughed, I cried and I envisaged the endless possibilities that lie ahead.Boys, I applaud you.If you haven't read this then do so. Now.

Inspirational, informative, clever and laugh-out-loud funny
This is what happens when two brilliant people, an Englishman and a Scotsman, join forces to help readers discover, understand and apply the principles to improve their own energy, happiness and purpose. A self-help book like no other, using a wee bit of magic to transport us down staircases in cardboard boxes, to where the wild things are. I absolutely love this book, and whether you’re a Mr Banks or a Ms Poppins I cannot recommend it highly enough.
