The chain broke on my apartment ceiling fan, and I didn't want to wait for maintenance to come and fix it, so I ordered this, received it in 2 days, installed it with ease, and it works great! All for only $6.99 :)

Installed easily and works like a charm!

This worked fine, and I was able to install it myself (65 year old woman, only semi-handy). I did have to resort to AI and YouTube to walk me through some steps. I very carefully took my ceiling fan apart, and I wrote down the wire colors and the hole numbers where they went, to make sure I got the new one installed correctly. It was kind of hard getting the wires out of the old switch, but in the end, I just pulled them, and they came out. AI told me that some switches have little holes that you can put a paper clip in to release the wire, but my factory-installed one did not have anything like that. The wires went OK into the new switch with the exception of the last one. It just would not go in, and AI told me that sometimes the holes aren't open enough, so I had to stick a tiny screwdriver into it to "preopen" it. I guess this worked, because I finally got it in (after having to trim it and restrip the wire). The wire honestly looked kind of shredded as it went in, but the little clamp took it, and it was tight in there. I put everything back together and it works fine. It wasn't the super-easy project that I'd hoped it would be (and that the YouTube guy said it was), but even though it caused me some frustration, it was better than paying $100+ to an electrician to install it. So if you're even a little handy, I recommend tackling this project to save a little money. The scariest part was taking the light kit off the ceiling fan, because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it back on. Having a helper (or maybe being a three-armed person) would have been helpful, but I was able to do the project by myself.

The ball chain broke inside our ceiling fan and this switch was a perfect replacement. Easy to install and worked great!

After purchasing a few other switches, this was the one that finally worked for my ceiling fan. I don't remember what company manufactured my ceiling fan, but the original switch was a KTE 3089 without a suffix and was wired a certain way. The original switch had common ground in terminal L, power wire from housing in terminal 2, and 2 orange wires that went into terminals 1 and 3. The ze268s6 switch the common ground goes into terminal 1, power from housing goes into terminal L, the 2 orange wires go into terminal 2 and 3. For clarification the capacitor on my fan is a CBB6-1 that has the common ground butt connected to the fan direction switch with a pigtail that is still used as a common ground, a red wire rated at (3uf 300v) that is butt connected to a red wire from housing that didn't and doesn't get connected to switch, 2 orange wires (4.5uf 250v) that don't matter which terminals they go into whether it was 1 and 3 on the original KTE, or 2 and 3 on this ze268s6. The black wire from the housing on my particular fan was the constant power which gets connected to terminal L on the ze268s6. This wire was connected to terminal 2 on the KTE switch. If anyone else ran into the same problem I had, I hope this review helps. This is also for ceiling fans that operate in high, medium, low, and off pattern, but very dependent on original wiring like I stated in this review.

My husband accidentally snapped the chain for our fan, and this made the repair so easy! Definitely worth the money to replace the part rather than tinker with the old one!

Perfect replacement for fan speed switch on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Recommend checking impedance between terminal “L” to terminals 1, 2, & 3 before installation. NOTE(s): Only Black wire is Hot/Load. Recommend adjusting fan switch to OFF before installing. Overnight delivery w/ great price. RECOMMEND YES 👍
