Finally Clean!
With this solder wick I was finally able to clean up old solder. I tried those pump suckers with no luck, but this wick cleaned it up very easily. It did take me a little bit before getting the hang of it but once I added some flux and used it a few times it is a breeze! Way nicer results using this wick,,, I definitely recommend

All of these Chemtronics Soder-Wick Rosin SD Desoldering Braids do exactly the job I want them to do. They are a bit expensive but they work so I pay what I need to at least for now.

Don't be fooled by the picture: There is 1, not 8 reels in this.
The product page shows 8 identical reels in the same photo. When it arrived, there was only 1 reel. I went back to look, and when I clicked "See more product details", I saw "Item Package Quantity: 1", but given the photo, I think I can be forgiven for thinking there would be 8 reels in the package. It works fine, but $15.25 for 8 and $15.25 for 1 are, quite frankly, two very different deals. And to be honest, $15.25 for 1 is WAAAY too expensive for what it is. This thing better extract the chrome off of a trailer hitch for this price. I need to use this today, or I would be sending it back.

Soder-wick is the best - but not this size
Soder-wick is the bomb, but no small guage wick works well. Why? They don't hold flux very well, and they can't pull very much solder off per inch. I do surface mount all day long and bigger is better unless I have some incredibly good reason for going small. I run a Hakko 70 Watt D-4 tip @ 650 and I use Soder-Wick 80-6-5 wick. It holds plenty of flux, wets instantly, and pulls gallons off before it gives up. Just cut a steep crossed point on your wick when you trim it and then use the point for fine work. Take the right upright off a capital N, and that's what your wick end should look like. This fine stuff has never worked well for me, but Chemtronics is a great brand.

Works well, solder sticks to the copper braid and cleans up nicely
I used this product when soldering on a circuit board, and to remove any excess solder that I made. It worked as described and I would buy it again.
