Not just for the money but in general these are very good banjo tuning mechanisms. As I write this I hope they will continue to keep the quality consistent. And yes I've had American made that had working flaws that were unacceptable. Just make sure you don't get the cheaper brands because I've had them and they're terrible.

very smooth
peg is very smooth. A peg is shorter than the other brands. Therefore a peg isn't crashed against the bottom of a case. If an end screw is a minus screw, I put perfection.
