Expressive Pencil !
I got this pencil a few months back, and I'm finally here to give my review. I use this pencil as an artist, I have many pencils and I absolutely love metal pencils such as the graphgear 1000 series, and I decided to try this one out, more due to the aesthetics. When I received the pencil, I wasn't entirely sold on its packaging, it came in a plastic pencil holder, not like a bag, but just a single pencil holder. That aside the pencil looked amazing! It came with some lead but unfortunately the lead broke during shipping, I did replace the lead with my own and it took it great! First Impressions The pencil was, to my surprise, very light feeling, it was a bit hard for me to personally adjust to its weight as I expected something slightly less heavy than a graphgear, but man, once I got a feel for it it was amazing. The pencil writes very fast, almost like a ballpoint pen, it glides. And I love the lead hardness indicator! The pencil performs well under a light hand and a slightly heavier hand. The Barrel Tip The tip of the pencil is probably the only thing I could find a problem for, and if it wasn't for the poor shipping, it wouldn't be an issue at all. The tip is very elongated which is nice, it is to protect the lead, and also be helpful when using a ruler for straight lines, however, my pencil came with the tip slightly bent, which causes lead to break inside the barrel every so often. It wasn't a big deal, but it did become a bit expensive having to constantly put in lead every hour or so. I have tried to straighten it out but I don't want to put pressure on it as I fear it will break. But I find it easier to just use a single lead and only replace it when it inevitably breaks or is worn enough. But I do appreciate the barrel tip! For Sketching/Drawing This is honestly my favorite, go to pencil for anything, I write with this pencil, and more importantly (to me) I draw with it! The lightweight of the pencil helps me be mindful of my own pressure I put on it, so making lines has become very easy now, as well as the opacity of them! The feeling of this pencil on paper is top notch, as well as it's look! I can not stress enough how much this pencil makes you feel good about your projects! I have linked photos of art I made with this pencil! The Meh Aspects Finally where I talk about the things I don't really hate but don't like either, and I'll start with the grip. OH. MY. GOD. The grip is nice looking but it feels very uncomfortable. The grip is sticky and feels kinda fuzzy. It is an uncomfortable and unpleasant feeling, and due to the stickiness, it gets dirty really fast, and since the pencil is metal, I wouldn't recommend washing it with water for fear of the metal degrading. The last meh thing for me was that the pencil itself just gets dirty quickly, I keep my pencil in a pouch but lead and other objects continue to constantly dirty the pencil, It is very easy to clean with a cleaning wipe however! That is about it Final Thoughts If you want a pencil that looks nice, and makes you feel like you are very skilled in the project you are working on, this is the one. It's cheaper compared to other pencils such as the graphgear 1000 or the kuru toga advance, but it is very similar in quality! It writes and draws well, and for me, it is my go to pencil for everything. Do not let my negative points deter you from buying this pencil, because while it has its downs, there are so many ups!

My favorite pencil by FAR.
I love this pencil. So much, that when I lost my old one (left it somewhere when traveling), I immediately knew I needed to get a new one. It feels amazing, it's nice and heavy, feels like the quality item that it is, and has never let me down. You do need to be a bit careful with it (so it may not be ideal for kids), as it's possible to bend the metal shroud around the tip of the emerging lead if you drop it on a hard surface tip-first. This pencil is my favorite writing instrument, and it's what I use for my daily planning, goal-setting, note-taking, and other things. I would suggest a separate eraser. The one on the pencil (under the cap) works great, but it's small, and while replacements can be found, they're not super cheap: Staedtler Mechanical Pencil Eraser Refill for Drafting Pencils 925 (92R) . Get a Staedtler Mars Stick Erasers (STD52850) instead. That thing is, for erasers, what this one is for pencils: a lovely and highly functional thing. Alternatives to this pencil: Staedtler 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil Night Blue Series (925 35-05) (the exact same pencil, except in a nice dark blue. I got the silver since it's easier to see (I don't wanna lose this thing again!) Staedtler Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm (925 05) (the cheaper, plastic version of this one; I say skip it. Metal is glorious!) Pentel Graph Gear 1000 Automatic Drafting Pencil, 0.5mm Lead Size, Brushed Metal Barrel, 1 Each (PG1015A) (also a good alternative, but I prefer the Staedtler... its just feels nicer to me). Uni Mechanical Pencil, Kuru Toga Roulette Model 0.5mm (I haven't tried this one yet, but feel that it's not as classy-looking). rOtring 600 0.5mm Silver Barrel Mechanical Pencil (1904445) . A lovely pencil, but at this point, I feel you're paying more for the name. I bought one, and it was nonfunctional. Eventually, I may try for another. While you can't go wrong with any of those excellent pencils, the Staedtler silver is my fave, and likely to remain so. At under about ten bucks, it's a great value, and a lovely and functional piece of art I love to use and keep around.

An upgrade from the Staedtler Mars 780 ...
The Staedtler 2.0 mm Silver Series (925 25-20) is an all-metal mechanical pencil weighting 21 grams. The extra weight feels comfortable in my hand - better control. This pencil is quality built inside and out. I am amazed that Amazon is currently selling it for a little more than the Staedtler Mars 780 Technical Mechanical Pencil, 2mm. 780BK which has a plastic barrel and weighs only 13 grams. I own both pencils. The Staedtler 2.0 mm Silver Series is a much better pencil then the Staedtler Mars 780. The Silver Series works more like a mechanical pencil then a lead holder. It does not have the big gaping jaws at the tip. It advances the lead a little bit at a time like a normal mechanical pencil. You can always grab the lead and quickly pull it to a much longer length if needed. The pencil has an adjustable lead hardness degree indicator. I only use the Staedtler Mars Carbon Leads with this pencil. It is the best 2.0 mm lead I have experienced. PROS: - All metal construction. This baby is solid yet comfortable. It should last for years. - Adjustable lead hardness degree indicator. - Lead width indicator is on the cap. - Beautiful design and finish. - Heavier than the plastic 2.0 mm pencils - weights 21 grams. - It also comes in the color blue Staedtler 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil Night Blue Series (925 35-20) CONS: - Does not work with the rotary lead sharpeners. - It advances the lead like a normal mechanical pencil rather than a lead holder. The speed of lead advancement may be an issue for some people.

Writes great, but leads break
Fantastic Pencil, but the lead breaks too frequently. I love the way this pencil writes. It's fantastic. It feels nice and heavy in the hand. It writes smoothly. I used a 2B lead and it constantly broke. I switched to a Rotring 600 and never had an issue with breaking.

I would buy again and most likely will

Staedtler 925 25-05
I work in a technical field and have used the disposable BICs since I was a student. I must have thrown out hundreds of them. Sometimes they write well for a while, and they can be refilled, but the individual pencils usually don't last that long. Often they lose their ability to hold the lead firmly in the pipe, so the lead just slides back into the pencil when you try to write. I have always used 0.7mm leads because the 0.5mm leads tend to break easily in the BICs. I transitioned to fountain pens around the pandemic and love writing with them. But sometimes a pencil is the right tool - especially when you want to erase stuff. So recently I went down the pencil rabbit hole. In addition to the Staedtler 925 25-05, I tried a few others like the Pentel GraphGear 500, the Pentel P205, and the Staedtler Mars lead holder. I enjoy all of them, but the Staedtler 925 25-05 is my favorite at the moment. The metal construction feels solid in hand but not heavy. The grip area and the knurling feel just right to me. I enjoy being able to write reliably with 0.5mm leads. The long drafting-style pipe keeps the lead from breaking very often. The lead advancing mechanism and clutch feel very steady. I keep this pencil at home because it's a kind of a luxury pencil for me. Though in reality it costs about as much as a Pilot Kakuno, which is one of the least expensive entry-level fountain pens (but still awesome). I am using Pentel Super Hi-Polymer leads. I also started using separate erasers (Pentel Hi-Polymer Block Eraser) and reserve the built-in eraser for quick touch-ups to avoid wearing it down too quickly. The P205 grip area feels a bit too narrow to me. The Mars lead holder is extremely cool, but I find myself wanting to sharpen it frequently and making a big graphite mess when I use the built-in sharpener. I'd recommend trying the GraphGear 500 if the Staedtler 925 seems too costly; it's got a plastic barrel but the writing experience and quality are almost as good for about half the price. One minor nitpick is that, in the course of writing, I somehow tend to unscrew the grip from the barrel enough that the lead indicator becomes free to move around. The indicator is not very meaningful to me because I don't deviate from HB lead. But if you do make use of it, maybe make sure the grip is tight before you put it down and pick up another pencil.

This is my favorite pencil, despite a few obvious disadvantages.
This review is for the 2.0mm pencil (925 25-20). I first started using Staedtler pencils when I found some Staedtler Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm (925 05) at my university's bookstore. I quickly fell in love with the pencil, but didn't like the fact that everything but the chuck and tip were plastic. I set about trying to find an all-metal pencil, and finally found the 925 25-20. The 925 25-20 is by far the best pencil that I have found. Every part of the 25-20 is metal, including the lead-holding tube. I have found Staedtler Japan's products to be of better construction quality than Staedler Germany's. There are a few disadvantages to this pencil, though. The first disadvantage is that it does not have an eraser. The cap is directly pressure fitted onto the lead-holding tube inside, with no eraser. This means that you need to have a separate eraser. In order to keep a uniform look, I use Pentel Refill Erasers for Clic Eraser, Contains 24 Erasers (ZER-2) inside of a Staedtler Pencil Holder, 900 25 (900 25) with a small piece of paper as a spacer to make it fit. (Yes, it has an eraser at both ends that way.) Or you could use Staedler's erasers or Pentel's erasers. The second disadvantage is that you need to have a way to sharpen the lead. There are two ways that I have done this. The first is by using the endcap of a Staedtler Mars 780 Technical Mechanical Pencil, 2mm. 780BK . I found this to be slightly difficult, though, because the sharpener in the cap tended to get clogged with graphite filings. The method that I would recommend is a Mitsubishi Pencil Pocket Sharpener DPS6001P For Sharpener Uni 2.0mm Wick Holder . I find that by using 2H lead and the Mitsubishi Uni sharpener, I can get a finer line than most 0.7mm and 0.5mm pencils. The third disadvantage is that you can damage the lead pipe (tip) of this pencil. I accidentally dropped this pencil on concrete once and bent the lead pipe to where the lead would no longer advance. I was able to fix this, though, by reshaping the lead pipe with a 2mm metal rod that I happened to have lying around. I love the higher center of gravity that the thick aluminum walls provide. Some people may not like this, but with my writing style, the pencil rests nicely on my index knuckle (2nd finger MCP). The knurled grip feels much better than a squishy rubber grip, and will not slide in your hand. The knurling is almost sticky (like velcro, not like duct tape). Using this pencil feels like using a well-designed industrial tool, not like using a toy (I'm looking at you Bic pencils). The choices of leads you can get make this a very flexible pencil. One can even use non-photo blue lead (such as Sanford Prismacolor Turquoise 2mm Colored Non-Photo Blue Lead (ANE2376-9) ) for when you want to scan your drawings, but you don't want to have your guidelines show up in the scan. When using different leads, you can set the indicator on the barrel to show what kind of lead you are using. In my opinion, the benefits of this pencil far outweigh the disadvantages. This is by far my favorite pencil.

The most premium drafting pencil!
I upgraded to Staedtler from my Kuru Toga M450 (used for print style writing) and my Sakura xs127 (used for cursive style writing). Suffice to say, this one does a great job for both kinda writing. The metal build is sturdy, the silver looks so sleek and elegant! The pencil isn't as heavy as I'd thought and I love the balance. It doesn't even hurt through long hours of writing and drawing. I think the price is justified well for this pencil as opposed to my 150 bucks Kuru Toga and 350 bucks Sakura, which also do a fantastic job but doesn't quite match the Staedtler. Got it off the sale at 1.1k.

Excelente portaminas tecnico
