XP13000EH - Great Generator At A Great Price
Edit 6/19/25 Strong storm cell came through our area; high winds and driving rain. Moved in and out quickly so everything seemed normal. A few hours later, power went out. Power was out 9 hours. The 1300EH fired right up and ran 8 hours on a full tank of fuel (gas). That seems to be the average time (in hours) with a nominal load. Edit 6/18/25 Still running great. I usually start it by hand just to see if it starts easily and it does. 80 hours on it so far. Have not tried the propane option yet, but have tanks available if needed. I try and run the generator at least every few months (for 15 minutes or so) to ensure the fuel lines stay clear and dust off the cobwebs. Each time I add fuel, I use Stabil fuel stabilizer since its hard to tell how long it might be before the generator is used again. I also add B12 Chemtool to at least one tank of fuel a year. Follow recommendations on B12 can for ratio. The B12 also helps keep varnish and junk from clogging up the carburetor. These two fuel additives work magic when used in small equipment engines that are not run often. You will never have a start-up issue when using these additives. Edit 9/30/24 Generator is running great still. Lost power at 5:40AM due to remnants of Hurricane Helene. Power companies are trying to restore power and probably had to shut off adjacent grids to make the repairs. Edit 7/23/22 We recently upgraded to a 3 ton compressor & evap coil (same air handler) due to the previous 2 ton compressor dying a slow death. The 3 ton compressor uses about 1000 watts more than the 2 ton compressor. The XP13000EH can easily handle the extra load. To help with turn-on surge, I turn the air handler fan from AUTO to ON, this way the air handler is already running and when the thermostat calls for AC, only the compressor will need the surge current to get up and running in that split second. With both HVAC units running the load is about 6000 watts, so I have approximately 4500 watts to run the rest of the house, which is more than sufficient to be comfortable when the power is out. As far as sensitive electronics, the only issue I have had is with a UPS (back-up power supply), but other than that, the 13000EH runs everything just fine, no issues. Desktop & laptops use a switching power supply, so those kinds of supplies don't need a perfect sine wave to operate. My old school air handler (regular squirrel cage motor) runs fine of the 13000EH too. End of edits. Original Review: We bought this generator based on other reviews and it has been dependable and powerful. One item that I wish they would address possibly in future models or a change is the muffler; it is a bit loud, but other than that, the generator is awesome. We live in north central North Carolina where power is fairly reliable, but has gone out periodically more than I thought it would and purchased the 13000EH as a whole house generator. The 13000EH is connected thru a 60 amp transfer switch and runs the following with ease: Two 2-ton HVAC heat pump units with gas furnace assist 1000 watt microwave oven Standard size fridge Two chest freezers Home office and networking equipment (computers, printer, etc) TV, Dish receiver, audio equipment Various LED lighting and ceiling fans Two bedrooms (lights and receptacles) Although some reviews have stated that the THD of this generator (this series in general) is higher than some other more expensive brands, we have not had any issues with our computers or other electronics being run off of the 13000EH. The generator has about 50 hours on it. It easily pull starts even though it has an electric starter too. Very happy with it’s performance so far. I have only run it on gasoline so far, not propane, but do have propane tanks as a secondary fuel source.

Works Great !
We purchased the 13000 watt. It arrived in perfect condition and arrived just in time for it to be wired in to the house (optional) before the winter storm hit. I advise everyone to read the start up instructions carefully. Especially if you are not mechanically knowledgeable. The instructions are simple and clear but Ive read where people were unaware that you need to remove the red metal shipping brace, connect the Negative Battery Cable and put oil in it first. Not doing those things will obviously prevent it from starting or damaging it. After following all instructions, our electronic start up cranked up immediately. I tested the pull cord and it worked as well. We chose to have an electrician wire it directly into our home. Our friends didnt do that to theirs. They just plug everything in to theirs and that works well too. It basically powers our entire home. Our heating and air, oven, refrigerator, small freezer, water heater, lights, TV and Wifi. We havent tried the washer and dryer yet. The ability to use gasoline or propane is awesome and its just a matter of turning a knob to switch. We put it on a small floor flat dolly/wheeler and it rolls around easy. We are very satisfied so far.

So Far So Good & Solid Value
I rarely write reviews, but I know for this purchase, I relied some what heavily on the verified reviews. First off I work in the construction world, and feel I have a above average aptitude for trouble shooting, installation, and confidence of use. The generator came on a truck with a Tommy gate, and the driver unloaded and placed in the garage for my wife (I was out of town), trucking company communicated well and timely. I put the accessories on, I.e. handles, wheels, etc, which was a semi easy task, I will note the generator is heavy, I don’t have an exact weight but I had to grunt a little to move it around with out the wheels. I filled with oil (full synthetic), fresh 93 grade fuel, and hooked the battery up and let it sit for a few hours. The generator fired right up with the electric start, and ran fairly good but was a little choppy and ran hard. I turned it off and checked oil and for any issues/leaks. I let it sit for a little longer and started back up and still ran a little rough, which I attributed to being a new start with no load to the motor. I hooked the generator up with the provided whip, into my 50a generator plug, that I wired into my panel. As soon as I started turning on breakers the generator rev’d up and was singing perfectly with no hiccups. I turned on all breakers, including my A/C and furnace (for blower fan). I live in Florida on the space coast, and this generator will be vital during hurricane season. The a/c for some reason didn’t start up at first, but after some time I did get it to kick on, and the generator rev’d up more and still sounded good. The noise level is actually quiet for its size and capability, but it’s by no means quiet. At the time it was running the majority of the lights in my house, A/C, tv, fans, fridge, and microwave. It finally tripped and pulled to much when my wife decided to run the dish washer. I will add to my review on my next maintenance run, or use after a power outage. I put 0 stars for tech support because I have not needed it to this point, so I can’t accurately rate this.

Great piece of machinery engineering!
I got my DuriMax generator yesterday. I read up on any info I could find before starting the set up. The delivery men dropped it two times while they were getting from their truck! Good packing because nothing was damaged. At 246 lbs this is nothing to try to carry. The box has that warning on every side. Instructions were above most instruction info. Be careful not to drop any removed bolts because they can find the worst place to slip into Once the wheels and handles are installed , the 240 lbs is manageable on FLAT GROUND! ! ADDED OIL AND GASOLINE, installed the battery, pushed the start button and it took over starting the engine on the third try ! Ran like a champ. Plugged the heavy 50 amp connector HOSE, and used the home lights for a light load bracking in for a beginning 5 hour break in. Four more to go. Turned on the tv, worked fine with the light load but didn't like the electrical noise with a larger load. Looking forward to handling bad weather electrical events with this monster of a generator!

Initial Break-In Procedure and Warnings
Picked this puppy up on Amzn Prime Day; can't beat the price, at almost 500 off MSRP!!! Yes, it's heavy, it's a 13kW generator. I slipped the delivery guys a Lincoln after they "helped" me wheel the 235 lb. UNIT around back of the house. -- My break-in process thus far has involved a small, 6 to 8oz. of 'Marvel Mystery Oil' in BOTH the fuel tank and oil reservoir. -- I initially poured in 64 oz. of 4 Cycle TruFuel Ethanol-free gas, designed for generators and small engines. The Genset was slightly angled away from the fuel inlet and the Generator failed to start on multiple attempts. I connected a 20 lb. propane tank, and 2 starts later, it was running flawlessly. So, I wound up elevating the footed end of the genset so that the fuel would hit the inlet without vibrational interruption. I also added another 16 oz. of TruFuel to the tank. This time, she started up and ran beautifully for about an hour and a half or so, before running out of Gas. Set up of handles and wheels were straight forward enough, and no guesswork to speak of. Unit moves pretty freely on large solid wheels. Note, the handles would NOT stay in the elevated position, and the right-side handle becomes hot as frick while sitting right next to the muffler, 1 star removed. ALSO, 1 side motor mounting bolt ended up backing itself completely out of the unit. I tightened it with the supplied metric wrenches, and away she goes. -- I hooked up a 1500W space heater, and she powered on with no hesitation. I then hooked up a 30Amp, 120V splitter to the 120V RV outlet, and ran a pretty powerful electric leaf blower while the heater was turned down to Level 1 at about 800W. She ran perfectly and powerfully with these 2 Loads of about 1.6 to 1.8kW for about 20 to 30 mins, all on the TruFuel gas, and with little to no objectionable fumes or hesitation. I used a floor fan to hit the Unit and provide fresh air in the running space. Unit was located about 25 feet from the back door and sound level inside the house was negligible. -- When she ran out of gas, I hit the 'run dry' switch, and she shut down promptly. On a previous note, the Unit attempted to start itself powerfully about 8 to 10 times while my fuel level was insufficient and angled off kilter. Subsequent starts with the push-button starter were strong and successful. I also utilized the low-idle switch a few times, and it takes about 10 seconds to idle down with little to no load present. When a strong load is sensed during low-idle mode, the Unit automatically idles up to accommodate the running load. -- I am now in the process of installing a manual transfer switch, and will report back with further findings when larger loads are connected and operational. Lastly, after the Fuel had run dry, I hit the inside of the gas tank with WD-40 to remove moisture and prevent corrosion inside the tank. I read this online, and thought it was good insurance to prevent future problems. Also note, it is recommended to break this puppy in on gasoline, as Gas has a higher compression factor than Propane, and will help to adequately "Seat" the Valves on the motor itself. Once the Valves have been properly seated with gasoline, I intended to run the Unit mainly on Propane, and will repeat the WD-40 procedure when transitioning from Gas to Propane. Stay tuned for part 2. Hope this helps anyone, thanks.

Powerful gasoline or propane beast with great features at a reasonable cost.
Very good higher power generator runs on gasoline or propane. Electric or recoil start. 500 cc OHV motor with low-oil auto shutoff. Carbon monoxide detector and auto shutoff. Three-way meter shows voltage, frequency and total run time. Includes no-flat tires. I never run gasoline in it but it's good that it can use it. Propane in a tank never goes bad, unlike gasoline, and it burns clean. The choke automatically opens when the motor starts. The muffler is pretty good and keeps the noise down to a dull roar. The engine has a single-button start/stop system like later model cars; press 3 seconds to start or stop the motor. If it doesn't start immediately, which it nearly always does, then it will pause the starter for 5-10 seconds and then try again. This unit can easily run a microwave, a well pump, a 240 V electric heater or kitchen range, or a fridge and freezer. Maybe not all of those at once, but 13,000 watts is a lot of juice for a portable generator. This is the third Duro-Max generator I have owned, and the highest powered. I am happy with this one. It was delivered just 3 days before a major winter storm cut the power grid for 6 days and nights. I just had time to put the wheels on, run it 4-5 hours with light load, before the outage hit. I changed the break-in oil at about 10 hours run time. Had 55 hours on by the time power came back on. It kept the house warm and well-lit. It got about 7-8 hours on a 20 lb. tank of propane, but drew gas fast enough to cause the latter half of the small tank to frost up. Placing the tank in the warm air flow out of the generator prevented that. I recommend this genny.

It may be a great generator, but will probably never know because of the TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
This 13000EH dual fuel generator has NEVER worked correctly. It never started using the start button. When it did start from the pull start it only ran 2 hours. Now it doesn't start at all. Has fuel attached, new plug etc etc. But wait!! It is under warranty!!!! So as frustrating as this generator not working is, CUSTOMER SERVICE is the ABSOLUTE WORST that I have EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!. This is a 3 year old unit and under warranty. Chat - all you get is AI, no live agent ever comes into chat on multiple occassions after several attempts. You can call and wait on hold for hours and never get a person to answer. But wait - there is this great feature where they can hold your place in line and get a call back - that never happens that same day or may happen at 6am the next day (if only I had been awake). You can fill out the warranty claim form with all the information they ask for with pictures, serial numbers, videos of it not working and what the problem is - but them you receive an AI email asking for all of this information to be submitted - I am talking about now having an existing case# and this is what is happening. IT IS TERRIBLE. Finally, I think it was a person emailed and said they were escalating this after all of my complaints to the AI chatbot and email - and once again - they are asking for all of the same information that is already submitted in the warranty claim case. So dysfunctional, so unprofessional. I will update this if they ever get this generator fixed/replaced/refunded. I will never again purchase this brand specifically due to the failure of customer service.

Beware on price change algorithm
After 2 years and a couple of uses here is why I quoted it: remove 0.1 for each bad or missing documentation (2 missing info) remove 0.5 augmenting the price on each visit (algorithm made me paid 500 dollars more because of that. No information about that on the site) remove 0.3 for to small battery (had to boost because it did not start immediately - missing choke information in the documentation. Definitely not a good ignition like Honda motor) Besides that, and after just a couple of use, very satisfied.
