WEN Variable Speed Scroll Saw, 16-Inch with Work Light (3921)

Wish I could give my saw six stars rather than five. I love it! I've had a scroll saw in the past, but this one beats it hands-down. The very long arm allows me to work on rather large pieces. The air jet blows the sawdust out of the way so I can see my line. The light can be moved to whatever angle you need to see correctly. The guide adjusts high enough so that (with patience) you can cut pieces larger than a scroll saw should be able to. Haven't really had to use the adjustable angle for the table, but playing around I can see it is quite easy to set up.

This is a really good little saw for the price, It used pinned style blades, so you cant get into the really small spots, but the saw works well.

I don't often write a review, but was compelled to offer my thoughts about the WEN Scroll Saw that I recently purchased. The base and frame are cast iron and the reciprocating parts are well balanced. The saw is quiet and runs very smoothly; I've already used it extensively and have not broken any blades. I'd give the saw 4+ stars, but that is not an option. As a hobbyist, it exceeds my expectations. My reasons for not offering 5-stars are that: A) It is difficult to mount from above (I had to use 1/4"-20 hanger screws); B) It is difficult to lubricate in-place the pinions that guide the reciprocating parts (The entire saw has to be tilted to either side from normal vertical--a pain in the butt with the saw mounted to a heavy maple bench); and C) The storage compartment's cover could use some improvement--awkward location and hard to open and close. For the latter, I just added an extra compartment in one of the bench's drawers to store blades and parts. I haven't figured out how to lubricate the pinions without demounting the saw each time. Other than that, this is a great addition to my workshop. It is much better that the saw which I replaced.

Perfect size for my woodworking and works great on my small projects. Easy assemble . Blades are what you get for price but so far working just fine.

Light weight and portable. Just right for those small intricate sawing jobs. Very flexible due to the various and different blades available. Changing blades is a snap. One of my basic tools, used a lot and I find more and more use as time goes by. Wood, PVC, plastic no problem.

This was a gift for my son, he likes to cut and make things to sell. He is very happy with it and it's easy to use and works well for his projects.

Let me preface by saying I am a big fan of Wen products - i own many woodworking tools of theirs and have been overall very happy at the value for such low prices. That being said, while I will say there are many good things about this scroll saw, there is one major drawback that needs to be pointed out so you can make an informed decision. If you are new to scroll sawing, let me just quickly explain that there are two types of blades you can potentially use. One is a pinned blade where it literally has a little prong at the top and bottom that fit easily into the blade holder. This makes changing blades a breeze and doesn't require any adjustments on the tension. The other type is a pinless blade in which there are not little prongs sticking out which then requires the user to secure the blade with the aid of a manual method (ie feeding it through a slot and tightening it down with a screw/bolt). While the ease and convenience of the pin blade is appealing, you'll find the more you get into scrolling, the more you'll just use pinless as your go-to blade.. primarily because you can get the blade into smaller regions that a pinned blade simply can't get into. So with that bit of explanation i must point out that the pinless options that go with this saw are glaringly lacking and what i consider a huge flaw. The wen scroll saw basically gives you two options that allow you to go with pinless blades. First is by using pinless blade adapters that work by "dangling" from the default pinned blade holders. This proves to be a very cumbersome way to continually remove and reattach the blade for detailed work. The second option wen provides is to swap out the pinned blade holder for a dedicated pinless blade option. In theory that seemed like it would be an ideal solution. The problem is, that unlike other models out there that hold the blade in with a simple adjustment of a bolt that holds the blade in place, the wen version holds the blade in between a slight gap in the metal holder itself which is then cinched down with bolt via a plastic knob. The problem is, that the knob requires such excessive force to actually be able to squeeze the metal gap tight enough to hold the blade that it ends up breaking the knob itself. I had to order a replacement after the first one broke and the replacement one ended up breaking as well. I called the company to see if it was an error on my end somehow (props to them, they picked up the call right away and were quite pleasant to deal with). The problem, however, is that the tech knew exactly what i was talking about and said that you just have to use a hex wrench because the knob isn't strong enough to tighten it down and i'd never get it to work that way. While I appreciated his honesty, its just not a solution i was happy at all with. I don't want to have to grab a hex wrench every time i need to loosen the blade holder so i can hop to the next pilot hole. Since then i have upgraded to another very popular yellow scroll saw and the ease of blade changes is a HUGE night and day difference. It literally takes me mere seconds to swap in and out from one pilot hole to another versus literally a few minutes per change on the wen (and heaven forbid the blade isn't tensioned right in the holder on the wen, then you have to do the entire process all over again). Again, i truly think most of the product wen puts out are quality, but this particular issue is such a noticeable one that i just wanted to point it out to anybody beforehand. I know other options may cost twice as much, but i have learned to live by the motto of "buy once, cry once". I hope this helps some folks out there! Happy scrolling!

For a starter, this is easy to use. I would recommend changing the blade holder to the toolless version(which comes with it) and replacing the 4mm wing screws with 4mm bolts. this will require a 7MM socket to tighten, but it is well worth the modification. It provides a better grip for the pinless blades. Understand, this works very well. If you are having problems, look up Youtube video content "scroll saw" for tips and tricks. This saw is next to idiot-proof and very safe...even for children. Excellent tool.

Tiene buena potencia

I did not like the LED light assembly because it was vibrating too much. Converting it into an air blower was easy and it works great! Other than that, it is a great machine and I like it a lot.

Al, ser nuevo en esto, no tengo mucha pericia para usar la maquina, pero he conseguido varias figuras y cortes buenos, eso habla de la sencillez de esta maquina, cambiar sierras, ajustar la tensión, mover la mesa en grados, todo es fácil. He cortado principalmente triplay de 6mm y no le cuesta a la sierra, no he probado con madera más gruesa o maciza, pero no parece tener conflictos. Lo único malo que detecté es la luz esa que tiene, que al estar funcionando la máquina tiembla y molesta mucho a la vista, si tu taller está bien iluminado no la necesitas para nada.
